I thought that this line by Banpresto was terminated since Bandai introduced the HCM-Pro series. I was wrong. Here's the proof: ga.sbcr.jp/news/0605/12/05/index.htmlMetallic Special Creative Models. Now how can we get these things? I had a heckuva time getting the earlier F-91 and prototype RX-78 SCM's which I felt were terrific approx. 1/144 figures. Anyone know who's selling these things--and yes, I know that they're UFO crane catcher prize toys. Fortunately, some people occasionally sell these to spare us from having to go to Japan and play the machines.

No diecast. Wish they did like the amazing Perfect Transformation V Gundams from Banpresto that came out a few years ago. These SCM's are pretty hard to find though. I wish I had the SCM RX-79 G from 08th MS Team. It looked really cool and featured the backpack. www.zincpanic.com/toy/16906.htmlHere's the complete list of SCM's: www.zincpanic.com/view_toy_line.phtml?toys=12255Thanks to Zinc Panic for keeping track of this series.

I have the RX-71 one...nice display piece. It is a Banpresto "claw" machine toy.

Manny, here's the link: www.akadotretail.com/shop/shop_showbook.php?id=s-31903aI just ordered the RX-78 and the G-Fighter from Akadot. I hope the company is reputable and sends them to me. 00silvergt, do you mean F-91? I have that one, too. It's a terrifically engineered F-91 with lots of gimmicks including a transforming faceplate, moving beam cannons, and extending fins. It's truly amazing for such a small figure to do what it can.

By the way, SCM's are constructed of hard plastics for the most part and are painted though not with the same level of detail as the GFF's (Fix) or HCM Pro's. Additionally the RX-78 features a detachable and fully transforming core fighter with clear cockpit! Now that's impressive for a small figure. Even the HCM Pro RX-78 doesn't feature this. The quality overall isn't as high as the HCM Pros since they are UFO catcher prize toys but some of the gimmicks are great.

You're welcome. It seems Akadot is legit. They just emailed me to inform me that my order shipped. I'm looking forward to the SCM G-Fighter and RX-78. I plan to write about them afterwards.
I just wish the HCM Pros were the size of the SCM's and featured more things like a transformable core fighter for the RX-78.

yeah dude, same wish here. but i think it will go against bandai's marketing strategy. if the HCMs were 1/144, all the other lines in this scale including HGUC would go fubar (j/k) my ultimate wish is a new line of diecast 1/144 gundams, using the molds of HGUC . it will not go against HGUC kits because some would still prefer gunpla. that would be the perfect gundam line for me, and hope bandai reads this post

I just got my SCM 4 set from Akadot. It features the RX-78 and G-Fighter.
First off, the RX-78. I'm reminded why I like the SCM when playing around with this Gundam. It features good articulation including forward-moving shoulders, movement at the waist, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. There's also a retractable hook on the back for the included bazooka. Also included are 2 beam sabers (made of clear soft plastic) with removable handles so you can store them on the backpack, a shield made of PVC, and a beam rifle made of PVC. Last but definitely not least, you get a FULLY transforming core fighter (the smallest RX-78 core fighter I've ever seen) with clear cockpit, folding wings, etc. that you can actually store inside the RX-78 without hurting any articulation. The core fighter is made entirely of hard plastic (ABS). The RX-78 is almost all ABS plastic and fully painted. Very nice figure overall.
The G-Fighter is also a nicely designed piece constructed almost entirely of hard ABS plastic. It features a clear cockpit and retractable tractor treads. There are folding bomb bay type doors to hide the treads which are made of hard plastic and PVC. The treads don't move. Along with the RX-78, you can make the G-Armor, G-Sky, G-Sky E-Z, G-Bull tank, and Gundam+G-Parts (Gundam with G Booster). The G-Fighter accessories include an additionaly shield and dual beam cannons--both made of PVC soft plastic. Stuffing the RX-78 insided the G-Fighter isn't easy and I didn't force it. I think you could get it to fit with a bit of work.
Overall, a very nice set if you're not totally bored of the RX-78. If you want an awesome tiny transforming core fighter, you might want to check this out. I like this set better than the MSiA version. I don't have the GFF so I can't compare it with that. However, I do know that neither the MSiA or GFF G-Fighter sets feature the transforming core fighter and neither feature nearly all-ABS construction.

It appears that the next 2 Gundam Special Creative Models are the Gundam RX-78 gp03 and the Hyaku Shiki. I can't wait to get my hands on the gp03.

What scale are these figures in? Are they closer to GFF or MSIA scale?

They are approx. 1/144 scale I believe--therefore, closer to GFF in scale.

Thanks. These might be good additions to a 1/144 scale display.

I believe they are closer to GFF in size--12 to 12.5 cm so around 5". I'm guessing around 1/144 scale. These are usually found in sets of 2. I wrote a review of the GP-03S and Hyaku shiki in a related thread.

I compared my SCM GP-03S to my Super HCM Pro RX-78. They're both around the same size so I believe that the SCM's are around 1/144 scale --- so closer to GFF scale.
