GLaw: Did you photoshop the eyes, or does this thing actually have an LED?

I received my Super HCM Pro RX-78 today. I was a bit DISAPPOINTED with it. It could have been great but my particular piece was marred with a bent V on the head, paint splotches and smudges, excess glue in places. I usually expect better Quality Control from Bandai especially on their more expensive pieces like this one. However, someone at QC must've been asleep at the wheel given the number of defects on my sample. Has anyone else experienced similar problems with the Super HCM Pro? I do love the gimmicks on this one though like the sliding panels on the upper legs, the opening hatches all over, and the core fighter with retractable landing gear! Not even the PG kit has a core fighter that does that. I was impressed with some of the features that were packed into this relatively small (1/144) figure. The tampo printing came out fine for the most part. It seems that maybe the sloppiness came from persons handling it on the production line. I wish I could return mine for a different sample. Bandai, if you're listening, improve your qualtiy control!!! Oh, by the way, there is NO DIECAST at all in this figure. It's like a mostly painted MG/PG kit squeezed down to the size of HG 1/144 model--all plastic.

Upon closer inspection, I did find a tiny amount of DIECAST metal in the soles of the feet of the figure. Wish there were more, but it's still a nice touch. Cleaned up some of the niggling smudges, splotches, and excess glue by gently using a very sharp hobby knife. I was also able to bend back the V. It looks much better now, but I don't think I should have to do this with such a high-end figure. It is the ultimate Gundam RX-78 figure (not kit) though in a lot of ways especially detailing.

My Super HCM Pro's antenna was bent (in the box) when I got it from HLJ. I think I got a bit of a lemon. Fortunately, I was able to correct most of the problems.

You know I can't think of another character/design that has had as many figures/toys made than RX-78-2. Nice pictures though, and as soon as they make a SOC version or I get the Metal FIX version I'll have my first RX-78-2 too.
