Hey, sorry to hog the boards continually with messages for links + sales etc but Seouls third annual toyfare is being held on the 14th of December and apparently some really cool stuff appears at these events.
If you are looking for something other than vintage Jap tin or Jumbo Machinders let me know and I'll keep an eye out for it and get the sellers email.
A lot of weird bootlegs/Chinese and antique Korean appear at these shows.
Personally, I'm trying to collect all of the original movie posters from the 70's and 80's animated robot features.
Theres a display of about 12 of them in a gallery in Seoul right now but the prices on those have really gone up within a year. I once bought one for about $8 in a market and then 6months ago I got a weird Five Eagle Brothers (Battle of the Planets) meets James Bond 007(?) for about $40. Now I doubt I'll be able to get one for less than a hundred! Mc Donalds recently got in on the retro craze here and released ice cream cone promo posters with snippits of Five Eagle Bros and Taekwon V on them.
Another item I want to get myself which has nothing to do with bots is the FAT Homer Simpson wearing a dress action figure that Burger King sold here in 2001. Its made in Honk Kong but really funny anyway.
So if you are looking for something in particular let me know.

Okay, here's the link to the web site for what is thought to be the biggest collection of Korean made in the world! The Toto collection is very impressive and mixes garage memoribilia with robots, toys and movie posters. These guys are smart- they dont let people take photos of their collection because they make money from renting out toys to advertising companies etc. I post the link here because the Toto collection comprises so many good robot movie posters that feature Mechander, Grandizer, Taekwon V, Transformers etc etc. www.totoman.co.kr/click the fourth robot and a selection of categories appear- click the second category along and you'll find a photo of Bruce Lee. Scroll down to the Taekwon V poster. OK, it will show you the entire collection of Korean animated movie posters and robot posters but you cant copy and paste from the windows as these guys know they have something too valuable to let people just run off copies. The site has a lot of interesting memoribilia from Koreas bygone days. Theres an underlying military theme through much though... which is to be expected.

Very nice! I really like that Taekwon V poster you pointed out. Thanks for the link. THe only thing I would be interested in the toy fare would be a diecast of Taekwon V (if there was ever such a toy). I do appreciate everything else but don't have space Ed

Okay, I'll keep an eye out for Dairugger XV, Raideen and Taekwonv Diecast but I know for a fact that to obtain a Taekwon V diecast is nigh impossible in a nation with millions of Taekwon V fans! There is a diecast Taekwon V but I've only ever seen the one in the Kkambu collection. It hasnt even been shown in the Korean collector mags! Now for my wonderful news. I went strolling/shopping with the equivalent of $27 today right up Nth of Seoul. I visited over 13 toy stores and found some real bargains. I haggled down the price on a robot called `Servo' which is about 46cm tall from Sonokong 1995 and appears to be from a Japanese rip off of Ultraman. I got it for $8 in its box. At the same store I found an old 1988 vintage battery operated walking robot in box for $5 I've got a feeling that I've seen him for sale before on robot68 and I think he's worth a great deal more than five bucks! I also found a vintage 83 robo coloring book featuring some very retro name bots and I bought a set of 4 boxed transformers for $4. I also got 7 voltrons for $7. Thats what I love about korea- great robot hunting to be had and sometimes REALLY good prices!
