No that's what I am saying. You can link items YOU are auctioning on eBay or yahoo Japan.
You can't post links to other people's live auctions.
And as far as I know, you cannot hold your own auction for an item in the Sales section. It needs to specify a price, best offer or both. You can't tell people to send you bids.

Yes I saw that as well and it struck me as very odd. That's why I replied to your inquiry. Pretty sure it is a no-no and that person needs to change their post.

I'm not sure on having your own little auction because this is the first time I've seen it come up. I suppose anytime you post a sale and say "make me an offer" or "best offer" what you are really doing is having an auction. I guess for now I'm not going to say either way on this because I'm really not sure.
And as for posting up other auctions, that's a no no. But you can post up "buy it now" sales on Ebay.

Yes. Wanted/looking for is acceptable. There are many of those threads in the sale forum.
If you are looking for more than one item at the same time, put them all in one thread. If you are only looking for one item now, and then say another in six months, you can update your "wanted" thread since you are the thread creator.
Use words and/or pictures to describe what you're looking for, you can state if you have a price/budget you are looking to stay around, etc.
Listing what country and city you live in helps a member that may have the item you need determine if they can give you a good price if shipping won't be really expensive etc.
Please do not use live eBay auction links or yahoo Japan auction links to show the type of item you are looking for.
