No, it's not that one, there was a list of SOC's that was circulated at some point last year during a Tamashii Nations winter show, and it listed a Getter Dragon Sun Spark edition as being a 1 of 1. But since I didn't believe Bandai would do a 1 of 1, I just kind of wrote it off.

I am kind of completist, and some special edition.

Are any of you guys strictly an SOC collector and nothing else? Plus have the series from GX01 to the latest, consecutively? This is my collection... Pure SOC and I love it.

nope, I'm in no way a completist. I will always collect the one thing that tickles my fancy, be it whatever line or make or model (at least I try to love'em all )

These are the reasons and what influence me to collect chogokins: 1. I want to complete the super robots i know during childhood (normal/orig. colour). 2. New robots that i like (even if i don't know them). 3. No variants. (except anime accurate appearances from ova or manga).
And yes, I'm not a completist.

Thanks Zman But that's Gold...he's a "special" child....LOL ;D I think it would cost you more than $10K BTW, some of the rare SOC's are only 1 of 5 and one is 1 of 1...so if you are trying to do the Pokemon with these, you will surely be broke, not to mention if you got really crazy and bought all the accessories and non-Bandai items, like the compact mirrors, the bases, keychains, books...then there's the "SPEC" series... Thanks 00silvergt, I'll take that as a compliment ;D ;D I'd like to be a completist but I think I'll draw the line at the Iron Castle Mazinger (limited to 10 pieces worldwide I think?), supposedly costs as much as a brand new car (if the Hong Kong sellers are to be believed) Plus I passed on the Spec EVAs (felt they were too big next to the SOCs). Gold LOL, Gold, thanks for having a real good sense of humor...you got what I was saying! LOL...I think if we were all Sultan of Brunei wealthy, we may all want to be a true completist, but in order to be a true completist in the truest sense of the word, we really would be collecting SOC's for life!!! LOL ;D

If you have the time & money to be a completionist, great. I like what I like. A cool mecha design, great robot, whatever. Open to all.

i am a selective completist... like the fewture getter series, and the mazinger series... But SOC or aoshima.... I only try to complete the ones that appeal to me... I found no love for king joe but compelled to buy the black version... I didnt like the xabungle series and havent touched one even though it is everywhere... I bought pretty much all the black series... and selectively color variants...But honestly, its better to be selective completist vs everything completist...

Which one of the limited ones is 1 of 5? As for 1 of 1, I heard it was a Getter Dragon variant but I didn't believe it when I read it. Any pics or info? Here's the image of the chromed Getter 1 before it became the SDCC exclusive (pic was from 2005, from the "Soul of Chogokin:Project Iron Soul"/ encyclopedia from Media works). The SDCC version, note the different shade of green on the chestplate. Here's the metallic (metallic red?) Getter Dragon, first popped up around July 2006. If you zoom in on the pics you can see the text on the display card is in English, I think the photo was taken from an American Comic store (?) However, I don't think the metallic red Getter came out. It was offered at US comics stores and specialtiy stores from Diamond Comic Distributors and we all know how well they handled the SOC line in general. It did pop up on Ebay though, but I think that was a custom. Gold

Just a little report on the 3 SOC's I bought--the ones I swore I would never purchase:
- GX-32 Gold Lightan: Wow, I am pleasantly surprised. I can't stop playing with it. It's so shiny and is 18 K gold. I love how compact and heavy it is. I am so glad that I have it. Plus, I paid less than $50 for it. What a deal!!! One of the least most expensive SOC I've ever bought.
- GX33 Leopladen: I am underwhelmed. It is a lot smaller than I thought (the big spider man towers... How strange). I also don't like its design--I don't care much about the old school thing on this. I find this and Battle Fever uber cheesey. Like all of the bad things of the 70's combined. Oh well, I am still glad that I have this, it completes my set. Maybe I will grow to like it. It is only my first night playing with it.
GX37 King Joe: I've yet to open this guy.
I am so happy to see my family of SOC's from 01 to the latest. I feel complete and very happy.

I'm no completist, I just buy robots I like. I hate spending money to have figures that I don't like a lot. When I'm disappointed about a model, I sell it !

If someone IS a complttionist out there, I personally would like to see photos of the SOC line from GX-01 right up to GX-42. (MISB is fine too. I'm low maintence that way.)

Lejam. You have one of the finest SOC collection I have ever seen. Where do you get your SOC's in Paris, France? Thank you Mazfan. I mostly bought all these threw internet, some in Japan last year, and just 2 in paris (Gx-04 and Gx-13). Buying socs in Paris is just... crazy (as in italy too). For an example : when GX-14 Eva 01 Test Type came out in Japan (about 5500 Yens = 35 Euros), some Parisian shops, selling imported japanimation toys and goodies, proposed it for 150 Euros !!! You can calculate... So it's better for me to buy in Japan. But socs are not cheap ! It is not easy to save money to respect Bandaï schedule and I am not a salary man... I work as a freelance in Art and fashion... by the past, I missed a lot of socs ( I was on focus on Binaltech line). Now I have to buy old Socs which got new values and prices. But I am not a true completlist : I didn't buy the 2-robots packs for GX-01R + GX-08... ...but It's hard to resist !
