According to some japanese sites, Bandai has disclosed information on GX-46 and GX-47, coming in 2009.
GX-46 ends with a 3: ○○○○○3 I'd say it's probably Daitarn 3 (ダイターン3), only other robot with a 3 besides Zambot is Gekiganger 3, but I really think it's Daitarn.
GX-47 ends with a 7... we have various options: トライダーG7 (Trider G-7) 大鉄人17 (Daitetsujin 17) レインボーセブン (Rainbow Seven) With these alternatives, I'd bet on Trider.

As much as I'd love a SOC Daitarn I REEEAAAALLLLLLY hope its Gekigangar 3 If for no other reason than to let me stop looking for that SOC conversion kit, plus I love his classic design.

Cool! I hope it's Daitarn 3, then all I need to wait for is a SOC Dangard Ace, and I'm done with the line!

i really doubt its the gekikanger 3....seeing daitarn 3 is at the third place in their most wanted list and some of the first ones(daimos and raideen)have or will be released soon and gekikanger 3 isnt even a proper series to begin with(just a meta-series within mobile battleship nadesico)....daitetsujin 17 came out in 1999 for another line (gd-17)...so its a bet between the trider g7 and rainbow seven and i d bet on trider, seeing it was rumoured already....

A clue given was that it had the number 3 in its name that there are 5 missing katakana/hiragana characters. Daitarn has 5 characters in katakana while Gekiganger has 6. So, Gekiganger 3 is not likely. It's the mecha in Ai no Senshi Rainbow Man (愛の戦士レインボーマン)

Hmmm I can see Bandai making Daitarn 3 since Tomino Yoshiyuki directed both it and Zambot and both are called "Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3" and "Invincible Super Man Zambot 3". I've seen manga or Anime books where both are pictured on the cover but I have no idea if both interacted. If so I wonder if Bandai will try and keep the scale of these two, of course Zambot is 60M and Daitarn is 120m so I doubt Bandai will make a figure twice as tall as Zambot but possibly Ideon sized just to show that Daitarn 3 is a larger robot. I'm pretty excited cuz I had the old DX Daitarn and it was a wicked figure even back then.
As for Tryder G7 being a possible SOC, I can see it. It's a transformer plus it's from the 80's so Bandai is representing 80's SR's. I picture it as Leopalden sized but come with a ton of accessories like in the show.
Two great figures IMHO, but this means I'll have to waite even longer for my SOC Dangaio :-(

Yeah I have that, it started out okay but I don't think they even finished the series.

Man, it's got to be Daitarn 3. That would be such the bomb, and everyone has been waiting for Daitarn 3 forever.

i used to have both of these robots when i was a kid. it would be so nice to have them both in the soc line. 2009 will be another exciting year for soc collection. daitarn 3 tryder g7 which reminded me, if bandai will follow the traditional height specifications of these 2 robots, then we would see daitarn 3 and tryder g7 as 2 of the new soc giants... hmmmm, its getting more exciting. tryder g7 with daitarn at the background..... daitarn and danguard ace, again at the background.... (courtesy of mechanicalrage.it) if this is for real, 2009 will be "sooo heavy" in the wallet.

Someone should try to redo that photo as more of the robots have been recently released (i.e. Voltes V, Reideen, Gaiking) and Daimos is coming soon. I would do it, but I am missing Dancouga and Mazinger Z. Besides my camera skills pale in comparison to some of the others on the board. I don't think that they will make Daitarn 3 to scale but it would be cool if they did. Just a bit painful on the wallet though. Then you could get a 4' Dangard Ace to go next to them all.

LOL yeah, I doubt it will be inscale, they haven't done it yet and I doubt they'll do it now. Besides some of the scale issues are just ridiculous, even in their own series they never follow it. Could you picture Koji in Mazinger being the same height as Great Mazinger's crotch lol. Plus some of the size measurements were just to one up the competition or to show the next bigger robot.
For instance Danguard Ace is "suppose" to be 200m tall, a little shorter in Satallizer mode but still huge, now take into account that a Boeing 747 is "only" 76m long that would make Danguard in Satalizzer mode almost three times longer than a 747, just ridiculous and even the show doesn't follow that nonsense.

As far as most SR's go (basing on the anime), they're basically the same height.
One only slightly taller than the other, unless specifically indicated (e.g. Mazinger Z vs Mazinkaiser).
Where did the "height hype" for SR's start anyway? From the SRW games?

Well that one famous pic is from a SWR game but some of the heights come from the actual creators/studios and some were just made up or the creators got in a height war saying so and so is the largest most powerful robot ever but never really backing it up with the anime.
Personally the only scale I'll follow is the "Soul of Chogokin" scale where you have your average sized Go Nagai bots, the smaller "real' mecha, and the larger combiners. To me it just makes sense and if my dream of a Soul of Chogokin Anime were to ever be made none of these robots would look out of place with each other :-)

I was just thinking that Trider G7 could end up being a sizeable release if they do the Beagle and Fortress support vehicles too.

Another robot that ends in a 3 is Dangaizer 3. Like Gekiganger, Dangaizer has 6 characters in its Japanese spelling. So far, Daitarn is the most likely one.
