What is in your opinion the best representation of SRW Alteisen? I have recently become interested in this figure and the little research i did revealed a few versions. Please add to the list if you know of more: Kotobukiya - 1/100 plastic kit Kotobukiya - 1/144 plastic kit Banpresto - 1/144 diecast figure Volk - ? If you have any of these figures please let me know your thoughts on them. If you have more than one, I would love to see comparison pictures and hear about your opinion on which one you like better.

Unfortunately, it's been too long since last time I've held it in my hands for me to write any kind of review, but I can at least say that the Unifive/Banpresto gokin is one nice little piece of metal. I don't know how much it's going for these days, but for what I've paid I was quite pleased with it. Some say the sculpt makes it look too "fat". Kotobukiya's models do look "slimmer", but I don't know, I think it looks just fine that way too. If you haven't already, take a peek at CollectionDX's review. It matched mine on most points, except for the broken ratchet join in its leg. Mine held just fine, and I did reposition it several times. He just had bad luck with his. I also bought Kotobukiya's 1/144 model, but I haven't even opened the box. I did build its "girlfriend" the Weissritter. If it's any indication of the Alteisen's quality, then it's great for what it's selling for.

Yes that broken ratchet joint kinda scared me a little. Glad to hear that it is in fact an isolated problem. It seems that banpresto may have produced a few version of alteisen. One is the one reviewed by collection dx: and two others that comes in a box with see thru windows. One of these two (that comes in box with see thru window) is the SP-1 version, which seem to have more gimmicks. SP-1: normal: does anybody know what the differences are?

They're Dengenki Hobby magasine mail-order figures. I don't know much about them. All I've read is that they're not worth their price. Don't know if true or not.

thats because they go for hundreds of dollars do to thier limited and exclusive availability. I dont know much about them but I hear they were good figures just not worth the incredibly jacked up prices. I guess its how bad you want one. I actually got one of thier figures on the way I found on ebay (not of alteisen though) i paid a pretty penny but I had to find out for myself. I do hear they are around 7", they also cover a wide range of SRWs chars. more then kotobukaiya and anyone else for that matter. when i get my Bellzuette (spelled wrong) ill let you know. IF its decent I will proably go for more. I prefer completed figures over models (which I hear the SRW models lack in articulation) so we will see.

Thanks guys. Yup $150+ for a 6 inch figure is pretty $$$$. I think I will just go for the normal 1/144 banpresto version. Does anybody have more pictures of it? Mechamasterj, please let us know what you think of your new toy once you get it.

The Banpresto/Unifive diecast version is the way to go, since you get more for less, without the hassle of building a kit. Most of the ratchets are fine (it has many small ratchet joints), with the exception of the hip/thigh swivel being too tight. I didn't break mine, but I can see someone breaking it if forcing it too much to turn. What I end up doing is unscrewed the thighs, and added some oil grease on the ratchet teeth on that joint to lessen the friction. Works great now. Still clicks pretty tight, but not too tight like parts will break.
While not perfect, the diecast one is still better built than any of the Dengeki Hobby Magazine ones. I have a bunch of those. Those have nice sculpts, but not that balance on weight and structure. PVC with plastic hinge joints and a couple ratchets for the knees. A good number of them has trouble standing well, since they focus on look and proportion, and care less on durability or weight distribution.

sell them to me then lol. what you say is what i have heard too mpchi, but its the only way to get many of the SRW characters in toy form. I really dont know why they did not take off with this line. So are they really around 7"? I honestly cant wait to get mine, but man are they expensive.

Thanks guys I just ordered the banpresto / unifive diecast figure from Ebay. Look forward to seeing it!
so the dengeki magazine ones are plastic only? I was expected diecast with the high price, but you're right the sculpts look pretty darn nice.

So are they really around 7"? I honestly cant wait to get mine, but man are they expensive. Don't get me wrong, I still like the Dengeki ones quite a bit, and took a lot fo effort just to acquire what I have so far in the past few years collecting. But they are more for diehard SRW fans, or fans that had been following the line early on. Just not a very budget friendly line of figures to collect, especially when you are just starting recently. Size wise, the real robots rounds up 5-6 inches tall, around the size (and quality) of a MSIA Gundam figure (from a few years back, not the recent ones), but with beefier arms and legs due to the designs. Super Robots are usually a couple inches taller. For the price they were asking for, they are not a good buy for what it is. PVC figures with some plastic joints and parts. But the sculpt and rarity made them a bit more special. With cheaper model kits and more diecast figures slowly catching up, the Dengeki line seems to be losing popularity. To a point that the RyuKoOh got delayed for months and still no signs of release. The whole line came to a stop at the moment. Hope it doesn't die out just like that and I'll probably just get RyuKuOh as my last, if it ever comes out.

Thanks Quinjester for the pictures! Looks awesome. Look forward to getting mine. Hopefully I don't break it. It's an awfully solid piece, the only part I could envision being potentially fragile is the lateral swivel on the thighs which are RIDICULOUSLY tight ratchets. So tight that some people have actually opened up the leg and cut away some of the teeth to put less strain on the whole assembly when trying to rotate the hips. Overall it's a really cool piece though and I hope you like it.

Yeah. Its a shame that the Banpresto/Unifive SRW diecast line just kind of died after only Huckebein MK II & Alteisen's releases. I like them both quite a bit, with Alteisen being the better one.

Yes I have both and they are awesome! And the price for these arent so bad (anymore, wodering if they did a re-release at some point). both can be had for around $100 ea. lol Quin got me to buy my Alteisen as well!!
I dont know why these stopped as they appear to be of better quality then the dengenki ones and were cheaper too in comparison but had diecast parts.
So I guess I should stick with my model kits. There is a chance I could get a whole lot of the dengenki off of this one guy (still would cost me a pretty penny), but if they are not really worth it, then I will stick to my models. It also seems that Kotobukaiya is fleshing out the SRW line well and may even touch on lot of the chars. covered by dengenki. However, I am a lazy model builder and always prefer complteted figs over building, especially when they are the same size if not bigger.....arghhhhhhh what to do what to do...

The nice thing is that most of the model kits look really good with just a dusting of dull or gloss coating; the R-2 Powered especially is one of the most toy-like model kits I think I've built. Be sure to take pictures and offer up your thoughts locidm when you get yours . Even though I already have one it's still nice to read others' opinions on these things.

Sure thing. I'll post pictures and let you know what I think of it. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get to open it though. I still have many figures MISB..... By the way, Quinjester, it was after seeing your pictures of Alteisen from the gallery page when I started really wanting it! So thanks for putting up the pics, but I have to put the blame on you for less $$ in my wallet, LOL. I got mine (Unifive / banpresto Alteisen diecast) for $64 shipped.
