I hope it truns into 100% CG movie. I don't think it works as well as Transformers.

Looking at the Voltron design, I wish they would let go of the Transformers movie design aesthetic where they show tons of little tiny parts and pieces of whatnot. I mean, we don't drive cars or tanks where all the inner workings are exposed, so why would you do this for a robot? Also, the wings are way too small, and the shoulder guards should be bigger.

YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! Whatever happened to smooth, sexy mecha? Why are they trying to Bionicle-ba$t*rdize everything? Michael Bay should be arrested for screwing-up the robot world. The Voltron in the pic above looks like a rotting zombie. I guess Hagar has finally gotten ahold of the Lionbot! I am not joking, i feel like i'm about to puke.

My biggest problem with the concept art is not that it's concept art (all movies go through this; just because they hired an artist to brainstorm and come up with some sample visuals, doesn't mean they'll actually end up looking like that in the final movie). But what I hate is that they even bothered to set it on Earth... the artist doing the concept didn't need to make the image in New York - there are plenty of other ways to depict scale other than using an obvious Earth-bound landmark.
As for the Voltron... not too happy with the proportions either. Also not sure about the individual lions: not enough colour. One thing that I always liked about the original animated designs was that each Lion had sharp lines and colours... like a race car. I like that blue-lion's new head but it sure needs a little more white instead of being all blue and dark greys.

if there were anyone I would trust to modernize voltron. I really enjoy what Fewture has done. The nice delicate balance of the old.. and the details and realistic feel of a modern design.

they try to overload these designs with too much kibble. in reality all that crap would just get broken off and torn off in a battle. anyone with half a brain could see that.

I gotta apologize again for overreacting. But, still, I just can't stomache this concept art drawing of Voltron. Looks like a bunch of narns and greebs pasted onto a skeleton and he still looks like a malnourished parking meter. ;D
(Then again, I really shouldn't yack: I can't do any better with Mazinger and other robots).
I still like the comment about the Red lion using the Statue Of Liberty as a "scratching post". LOL!!! ;D

A lot of the problem here (as with Transformers) is a misdirected mentality of 3D designers, which is that they tend to want to throw as much into it as they possibly can. And this isn't only with designs, it's in the animation too. I can't remember who it was, but there was a director who recently spoke out about this, basically saying that just because you can do something in a movie doesn't mean you should, nor does it make it better. Someone needs to break this cycle where the current idea is that "sensory overload = cool." It's kind of funny that Hollywood doesn't see this and every single one of us here does. But then it's like my friend who is screenwriter once told me, "Hollywood is not a collection of geniuses, it's just a collection of money". Ok, so attention Hollywood: think Lamborghini design, NOT roto-rooter/ sewer pump design.

I believe it was the guy who did "Avatar" who said that. At least, to me, he seems like someone who'd make such a wise statement. Another problem, too, is that Hollywood production companies think that because they have the "3D" or "CG" technology that they can instantly whip up a "3D" or "CG" movie of a grand design and expect us, the consumers, to lick it off their laps... ...as a consumer, I find it Insulting; hence I've been going out to the movie theatre a helluva lot less in the past five years or so-- I'm not a sucker for everything "3D" nor "CG" unless it's faithful to the original concept. Them producers also Rush to get a new "3D" or "CG" flick out to make the year's grammy nomination ($$$) or be the week's box-office million-dollar blockbuster hit ($$$) So that they can make the year's grammy nomination in time with their "million-dollar 3D or CG blockbuster hit". LOL! Them producers simply Rush to get a new "3D" or "CG" flick out to the masses, Period. ( ie: Lucasfilms. After "Phantom Menace" I completely shut myself off from any more of their "3D" or "CG" Star Wars brainwash) I already got bought into by Bay's Transformers movie and the sequels. But, No Thanks, I'm not gonna let Hollywood beat me over the head with it. I'll just play around with DoGA and make my own "3D" or "CG" movie. LOL! ;D zozo-Magengar A lot of the problem here (as with Transformers) is a misdirected mentality of 3D designers, which is that they tend to want to throw as much into it as they possibly can.
