Now this is a movie version Optimus (DA-28) I would buy for sure. Pre-orders are up at hlj. Nothing yet at amiami (can't seem to find listing). What are your opinions on DA-32? (Sorry if it has been already posted :/ ) A bit expensive for me (DA-32 retails for 16,590円) when compared the price of DA-28 Striker Optimus.

While the transforming trailer gimmick sounds nice at first, the Ultimate Optimus suffers from terrible designing that makes it so inferior to the previous ROTF Leader Optimus. Not just the hideous looking robot mode, but the combine mode does nothing. No articulation that makes it a good figure, and the trailer wings looks terrible as well. And when you have Jetwing Optimus Prime and now with the Striker Optimus Prime, it just not with it anymore. It feels the whole of the DOTM line is a mess. The quality control is terrible, Japan gets more figures than the world, the scale got smaller, the plastic is more fragile than ever, little to no paint, and despite that, it costs more than the previous lines! I think the only thing good they got is the Stealth Force and the concept of weaponized vehicle modes. But it was done poorly thanks to the Mech-Tech gimmick. ================== Better pictures for Striker.

Yet another retooling of the ROTF Leader Prime?
Well if the mold is "that" good I don't think I can blame takara for doing all these variants. The strikers' alright, though I'd still go for the Jet Wing Prime because I prefer the FAST pack as opposed to the claw and gun weapon of the Strike though the Alt mode looks fantastic, I'd take this over the dual model version any day.
Perhaps if I were Japanese and I saw this at my local TRU for $40 I wouldn't think 2x and pick it up as it stands its likely going to cost us here in North America upwards $150 so on that premise I'd pass.
Any how I got both HA leadfoot and Roadbuster recently and that closes my toy buying campaign for DOTM toys.

Looks great, but it's sad that Hasbro keeps passing on these amazing pieces in favor of junk for little kids. Don't they realize most of the stuff they release is so complex that the kids they're trying to appeal to can't even transform them properly and that they're for a movie they're too young to even see? Throw the collectors a bone sometimes, Hasbro, kids'll still buy stuff like this.

As for the "toys for kids based on a movie not aimed for them", isn't that what happened with Batman Returns?! The parents complained about promoting toys for kids from a movie that was too dark and not kid-friendly?!

Really, I think it's been going on for as long as there have been movie based action figures. I had Aliens and Terminator toys in first grade, and those are R rated movies. They were awesome, and I didn't need to have seen the movies to want them. The problem isn't kids, it's that the adults assume they're stupid and have no taste.

I think it was more prominent with Batman since he is a superhero, and superheros are usually affiliated and marketed towards children.

Are you saying Mech-Tech gimmick is better than Stealth Force (what is the difference between the two?). What line is Striker Prime from? I assume Mech-Tech?

A friend of mines once asked, how is it that the movie toys and all of these unsold overstock toys at retailers be profitable and why is it that Hasbro announces higher profit margin on things that doesn't look like they are moving? Last year when there was no movie and all they were doing were Generations and HFTD and RTS, and it was a down year. Even though, at times, it seem like you can't ever find any of the RTS figures like Grappel or Lugnut etc...
My response to him, you see the entire aisle of TF3 toys, you see them on the shelf. Walmart, Target, TRU, etc... All Hasbro have to do is convince them to buy and stock them. Doesn't matter if it sells or not. As long as you can convince the retailer to buy it, that all that matters. Difference is really, how do you convince Target or Walmart to put up an entire aisle of RTS or Generations figures. Without a movie or a cartoon show to base the toy on, retailer aren't willing to risk it.

No. I meant the Stealth Force is better than the Mech-Tech. We do see weaponized vehicle modes in the movie and in the games. And I say it could have been executed better if they were just weaponized vehicle modes like this Leadfoot figure. But the Mech-Tech gimmick ruined it. Instead of adding normal weapons, they made these stupid giant transforming weapons that are mostly considered a waste of plastic and budget.

$5 off DOTM figures coupons at Walmart. Saw them there tonight for the first time, stuck right to the shelf. I forget the details, but the minimum is $5-something which covers just about everything, but it's off the total price so two Legion figures would still get you the $5 off. Managed to get Voyager Megatron for only $10 thanks to the current $15 price tag.

I kinda like the Deluxe Prime. He could really use some better paint in bot mode, especially the arms (should be blue and red, not gray), he also has toe articulation thanks to his transformation. But I really love the truck mode. As a Deluxe figure he's quite nice, but with that awful trailer he'd be an easy pass. No weapon either?
