I just bought an "opened" version of this robot, Aquarion - Repainted Version. I've never purchased for what I assume is a "used" SOC. Okay, I know, this is not technically an SOC. But I've always wanted one. I never stray from my SOC collection, it's what's been keeping me sane and not broke for over a decade.
How do you guys like this robot? I've heard mixed reviews...

Coincidentally, I had mixed feeligs about.
I thought it was a lot of fun to mess around with, but I got frustrated by it's inability to stand without support. That and the individual ships don't hold together very well, as I recall.
I ended up selling it on ebay

Damn. Every time I see the name Aquarion, I think back a few years when Amazon was selling them (the GD-99) for $100. Kills me that I never jumped on the chance. Anyway, nothing of relevance to add to this discussion. Carry on...

What? GD-99 was selling for $100? I thought my recent purchase was a steal for $200 (and mine has been opened)! I've seen them as high as $600 on eBay!

I would say $200 is a D@^n good deal Mr.MazFan, I have watched quite a few GD-99 Auctions since the new year and they usually end @ around $300 to $400. As w/ Maestro KingBoyD, I bought mine @ a small weekly comic show in Walnut, CA for $150 but that was about 5 years ago as well! ^_^

BBTS had them for sale for $100 a couple of years ago. I place an order but it never went through... Got the money back and have been pining for it since then.
Berserker211... It's cool that you got yours in Walnut Creek... I grew up in the Bay! By the way, mine is the re-colored version. Are they less or more valued than the original one?

Hmmmm, Mr.MazFan that's a great question. I have only seen the original go up for auction and sale at shows and conventions. I haven't really seen the re-colored version. I have heard of it, this is the one you're speaking of correct?: www.hlj.com/product/BAN952749 vs. the original: www.hlj.com/product/BAN932997Is it the box that's redesign that's different or other added key pieces with some paint re-colorings? I don't own one so I wouldn't know since I only own the Original. As for the Value, If Bandai improved it via better joints (stabilization), enhanced the paint (maybe changed it for a more authentic look), specialized exclusive pieces, and overall improvement then I would say yes it would be more valuable especially if its a limited run. Kinda Like the Yamato Valkyries getting their improvements via 2nd, 3rd, 4th versions - well sorta, *sigh* kinda... On the contrary, some people like originals. So it all depends... Market defines the value but so do some collectors who don't care about pricing... BBTS had them for sale for $100 a couple of years ago. I place an order but it never went through... Got the money back and have been pining for it since then. Berserker211... It's cool that you got yours in Walnut Creek... I grew up in the Bay! By the way, mine is the re-colored version. Mine is the GD 99 (not the first link you sent with the new box). However, BBTS says this, "Aquarion - Repainted Version". The box that I will get looks like the one on your second link.

I Got a little confused your're losing me somewhere there in AquarionLand; Mr.KingBoyD and I were discussing the GD-99 original version which is this one: www.hlj.com/product/BAN932997I thought the repaint version you are speaking of is this one: www.hlj.com/product/BAN952749But your Topic title is referring to this one: www.hlj.com/product/BAN934886 -which by the way is different from the GD-99. The GD-99 is more sought after by fans and has always been the more expensive one on auction from $300 to $400 sometimes higher. I did a search on BBTS and their repainted version that is pictured (2nd pic down) www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/search.aspx?search=aquarion is the GE-01 NOT the Re-Release Black Box GD-99 from HLJ www.hlj.com/product/BAN952749. Correct? If not, some pics of yours would help and clarify things.....

the" repaint version " on BBTS is actually the aquarion mass produced/forced attack type , it's more expensive because it have core accessory (the famous mugen punch ) for the Gd 99 and the revival version , and also was released in fewer number .

Okay, now I know what you are talking about. I saw another RJ member's collection that had that repaint version which has the core accessory Mugen Punch. Apparently, I learned from here on RJ that the Core Accessory Mugen Punch was only going to be included with the Tamashii Web Exclusive Gold version at first, but Bandai decided to include it in the Repaint version of GE-01. From what I know, the original GE-01 only goes for about $150 to around $200. I honestly I don't know the value of the newer Repaint version of the GE-01 w/ the Core Accessory Mugen Punch. But It should definitely be worth more than the original GE-01 because of the repaint, exclusive accessories, and limited production #. ^_^

there were 4 aquarions that was released by bandai. the gd99 aquarion in the original and black box package. the ge01 attack force variant aquarion and the gd99g gold aquarion tamashii web exclusive. the mugen infinity punch accessory (one arm only) that first came out in the ge01 attack force variant was to compliment the gd99 aquarion. the tamashii gd99g gold aquarion has its own pair (2 arms) of the mugen infinity punch accessories included. the only downside of all these aquarions are they need support to stand in display. nevertheless, its an engineering marvel, anime accurate and true to detail. no part swapping everytime time you change from one vector to another. i love them all.

I have the GD99 and GE01. Like them both. ;D However, I've never experienced such frustration when transforming a toy as I did with these two mechas. God, I still remember the headache they gave me... it lasted for days!!! }D there were 4 aquarions that was released by bandai. the gd99 aquarion in the original and black box package. the ge01 attack force variant aquarion and the gd99g gold aquarion tamashii web exclusive. the mugen infinity punch accessory (one arm only) that first came out in the ge01 attack force variant was to compliment the gd99 aquarion. the tamashii gd99g gold aquarion has its own pair (2 arms) of the mugen infinity punch accessories included. the only downside of all these aquarions are they need support to stand in display. nevertheless, its an engineering marvel, anime accurate and true to detail. no part swapping everytime time you change from one vector to another. i love them all.

In the anime there were only two versions, the original Aquarion GD-99 and the Attack Type Aquarion which appears in the last episodes of the series. In the anime, the Gold Aquarion is the original Aquarion (GD-99) in Solar Wing mode. However, the two Aquarions' Vectors were compatible with each other in the anime, so basically, they could mix and match Vectors. I have not tried that with the actual figures thou...

Hi themazingerz. Thanks for giving us the details about the robots. I can't wait to get my Aquarion. I totally prefer the color scheme that I will get. I hope to get the mugen punch with mine. I will let you guys know.
This is the few non-SOC robot that I have purchased. I have all of the color SOCs from GX01 to the latest. I am color SOC completist!

My Aquarion arrived today. Darn, I am out of town for work! I can't wait to play with it tomorrow night.
Is it really that much of a challenge to combine the 3 robots?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
