just follow his account, add a couple of his items to your wishlist and see if he actually gets any feedback on items that he has sold and cross check if the accounts that gave him feedbacks are legit or some phantom accounts with 0 to 2 feedbacks or even private accounts.
he has 300+ positive feedback, so its a little hard to imagine (altho not impossible) he would want to jeopardize the account.
i did remember we have a similar thread regarding another seller in the US, dxchogokin or something, similar story, but i did buy a set of godaikin from the seller a couple weeks/months after the report and it did turn out well.
but then again, i rather be safe than sorry and i did not go ahead and make any bids on any of the italian seller's items.

in light of these scamming going on in ebay, i would like to check if any of you have came across this "ebay buyer protection policy" and does it actually works?
i have spoke to paypal customer service and they insist they will refund me 100% of the sale price if i raised a dispute and did not receive my item from the seller and they will have their ways and means to get compensation from the seller (but that would not be my problem anymore). only catch is, any dispute have to be raised within 40 days (if i remembered correctly).
is it true and have anyone came across this?

I've had to use Ebay's buyer protection plan twice, and both times I got my money back. Granted the two items were of relative small value but they do give the seller an opportunity to respond. If they don't, ask most likely this guy won't, then you'll get your money back. I heard they are putting limits now as to how much you can get back since supposedly a buyer and seller would collude and rip Ebay off. in light of these scamming going on in ebay, i would like to check if any of you have came across this "ebay buyer protection policy" and does it actually works? i have spoke to paypal customer service and they insist they will refund me 100% of the sale price if i raised a dispute and did not receive my item from the seller and they will have their ways and means to get compensation from the seller (but that would not be my problem anymore). only catch is, any dispute have to be raised within 40 days (if i remembered correctly). is it true and have anyone came across this?

eBay has never gotten back to me. Has anyone actually talked to someone over there, and asked that they monitor this seller. Surely they must have processes for watching folks who list a lot of items all at once.

I reported items to eBay and the info I posted to eBay and never heard back. Did you end up winning the auction you bid on? Just sit back, wait and see what happens. I wouldn’t pay unless baronkarlo files a complaint. And if he does, when you have to enter a response to eBay and baronkarlo just say you have heard this guy is a scammer and do not trust that he will ship the item. If eBay insists that you pay, your call then. eBay does have phone service. A slight pain in the ass, but I would only contact them if eBay insists you pay so you can talk to a human.
I actually have done it and it’s not so bad. But you shouldn’t escalate to that level unless baronkarlo forces you to.

I did won one of his collections, After I read warning from robot japan, I rushly open dispute on paypal regarding on that item I won. Paypal give me one week to resolve the problem, there are 2 email from baronkarlo, asking me "why I open dispute on paypal ?" I said f**k you are scammer, he said who said I'm Scammer, I told him give me some thing that you are not, by sending my item, and then he talk to me as if he is an idiot try pursuade me to close the dispute or sending another method of payment, because paypal hold his money temporarely. I guess Paypal monitored all of my email proccess to baronkarlo and decided that the money should be refunded to me
Oh Thank God I'm safe now

RedKris, so I understand better: You bid on one of baronkarlo’s auctions. You then paid for it. Then you read about him and his history. And then you opened a dispute. After you arguing back/forth with baronkarlo, PayPal saw that exchange, sided with you and refunded the money to you correct?

technically I don't quite understand the mechanism of refund by paypal, as I examined the email from paypal I found that Baronkarlo him self refunded my money, maybe he already knew that is not worth to extend the conversations with me.. I've been thinking how about the other people that won all of his collections ?

RedKris, okay that makes more sense. Here is the deal: baronkarlo ships some low value items and then—for items he avoids shipping—relists items after his PayPal liability window clears. It’s all arbitrary, but basically if it’s a small item of relative little value (let’s say $100 and under) then he ships. I know some Micronaut collectors who have received items that fall in the category. If it’s more valuable, he doesn’t ship. For example, what caught my eye in his listings this time was the boxed Micronauts “Lobstros.” It was listed twice (under two different IDs) in 2009 and “sold” to two folks who never ever received or saw the item. Now in 2011 it magically shows up again. And who knows who “won” that?
It’s safe to say that what this guy does is “make nice” in collectors communities by selling small stuff, spreading goodwill for a year or so and then suddenly listing some real holy grails (in this case 162 items), taking money and disappearing. E-mail conversations with Italian toy collectors confirms this “modus operandi.”
Also let’s not forget: The avatar on his account now is a confirmed dead Italian toy collector. This baronkarlo is not just a con, but there is something sick here.

I'd maybe sticky this thread so that if folks do search on his user name maybe they'll band together and then all file fraud charges. Since he had 162 auctions it seems likely that some of the deals will be bad.

I actually wouldn’t sticky this thread in any way. The amount of people screwed over by baronkarlo speaks for itself and I don’t think any of us will forget this guy no matter if he changes his handle or not.

i think we should sticky a list of ebayID names that are scammers or has a bad reputation, it will make it easier for all the members to look it up first before actually bidding on an item.

Looks like “baronkarlo” has gotten some “positive” feedback from a very well established eBay electronics dealer. Sellers can’t leave negative feedback anymore (since they can file non-payment claims) but check this out: "ATTENZIONE!! PAGA CON PAYPAL MA I FONDI NON SONO COPERTI!! evitate!"
Translated that reads: "WARNING! PAY WITH PAYPAL BUT THE FUNDS ARE NOT COVERED! Avoid!"
Well isn't that special! Apparently refunds due to non-delivery aren't covered by PayPal in Italy because of "disposable" credit/debit cards and now he's used that loophole to purchase an $800 unlocked iPhone 4.

He's using a deceased person's avatar? When did that toy collector die, and how; and when did this "baron" dude start all his scamming sh*t? That seems like one scary association... He's definitely a sick individual! I wouldn't be surprized if it all adds up to some on-going mysterious Murder investigation going on in Italy surrounding that guy and what he's selling... ...deceased toy collector/holy grails/scams... I dunno and I don't wanna be judgemental, but that's what it looks like to me. zozo-Mag RedKris, okay that makes more sense. Oh no!!! i just got an Ebay Case opened saying I should pay to baron"bit#@!"karlo. What should I do? I have replied to the email from Ebay regarding this. Dunno if ebay is responsive enough. I have sent letter to ebay Customer service as well, but no reply yet. Now when I tried to send email to this "baron-punk, and I got this auto reply from ebay: 'We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately, this seller is not able to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing."
Anyone have any suggestions, before I got my ebay account killed off? Thanks in advance
