The pearl is not hard actually. Just like metallics. Valejo paints make a mix in that makes any paint pearl. They have one for metallics too. Really?!!! Now I need to get me some of that!!! If I ever do get the real TWE Repli-GGG, I'll either sell this one... or mod it as a battle-damaged version. That would be cool! }D

I take it back, Gold did not compare the two in his review. }D Lol.. Sorry, I wanted to do that, but then I was afraid of handling the Max Gokin out of the box after remembering about the various "aging" issues with the toy. I didn't dare try handling he 1.5 Final Version either. just to be safe. Thankx chen so much ... I thought the Max gokin would be bigger!! did gold review the MaxGokin GGGG? I did, but I can't remember if I ever posted it on Robot Japan (I found the old 1.5 Final thread in the Braves section but I can't seem to find the post...) Anywho, here's the review hosted on one of the other collector sites I piggyback on. www.afhub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=180&start=315Gold

Hi all, here's the review for the SRC Super Robot Chogokin Gaofighgar. Opening Credits (Grand Glorious Gathering version) The abdominal section comes off to reveal the Evolual Ul-Tech Power source for powering up the Broken Phantom (Phantom Ring) and Protect Wall (Wall Ring). Wall Ring! Protect Wall! Comparison of Protect Shade (from GGG) and Wall accessories. Phantom Ring! Broken Phantom! Ul-Tech engine powered wings. Drill Knee GFG does not come with his own Dividing Driver. So you will have to borrow Gaogaigar’s. Goldion Hammer Safety Device - Release! Hammer Connect!!! Goldion Hammer!!!! Transform into Light!!!!! Hell and Heaven gemu giru gan go gufo…. Group shots with Gaogaigar, Genesic Gaogaigar and Gaofighgar. Optional “handshake” hands for GGGG and GFG. The Good-Diecast parts include --Sides of the lower legs and feet --Core section of the torso --Toro-connected main joints --Thighs(?) -Weighs 354 Grams – Heaviest SRC YET!!! -SRC Gaogaigar - 235 Grams -SRC GGGG -344 Grams -Optional rubber (soft plastic?) helmet crest included -Effects parts for the Phantom and Wall Rings included. -Love the removable ab-piece that reveals the Evolual Ul-tech power. -No swapping of parts for the Hell and Heaven! Hurray! -Protect Wall effects is thankfully made of thicker plastic compared to the flimsy Protect Shade that came with GGG. The Bad-No Dividing Driver? -Swapping the clear parts on the wings can be a bit scary, I actually just popped off the wingtips once and never reattached them again. Safer that way. -Helmet Crest falls of a bit easily. I lost count of how many times it fell off during the photo shoot. The Ugly-Hammer Connect Fail? ? For some reason, the peg won’t lock up properly when connecting the Goldy Marg/ Marg Hand. It goes in, clicks, but pops right out again. In most of my pics, I just ended up sticking the peg in but not locking it in place. What happened Bandai??! Overall, a decent figure in itself (heaviest SRC… wow). But, man, that problem with connecting the Marg Hand really let me down. I wonder if they’ll release a (here we go again) version 2? Geez I’m glad Bandai did the SRC GGGG right with zero issues and semi-broke the GGG toy curse (every toy released after Takara had issues prompting version 2’s) but it seems we’re right back in the saddle again with GFG. Sigh…. Still, if you’re a GGG fan, this is a must have to fill in the collection. Gold

Not bad. Not bad at all. Nice review Gold. Right now I'm saving up for that beast that's gonna be GX-68 (hope you do a review of that one too when it comes out ) but these SRCs are pretty well made, overall. Would be nice to have lil' GGG, GFG and GGGG join their bigger brother

Gold, push harder on the Hammer Connect. It may latch completely then. But yeah, the elbow peg is thicker on GaoFighGar... }D

Thanks Mechanical Flesh, you bet I'm going to do a review of the SOC GGG. TheMazingerZ did you yours attach? I tried pushing it in as far as I could, but it just click, then unclick again. I didn't have that problem with the GGG. Gold

Gold, here is what I did, and how it worked out... }D I hear you. Unfortunately, I did purchase (multiples) of all the ones I mentioned. But hey, there was no Super Robot Chogokin line back then! Anyway, Goldion Hammer has been modified to accomodate GaoFighGar's elbow peg. And it is a tight fit! Now I'm happy! }D

GFG is such a monster of a figure. However, there is one accessory I did not understand. The shaking hands part. I do not remember that happening in the anime. Was that just an homage to Mazinger Z?

It didn't happen during the anime, because the two were never together. However, in the opening credits for Final, they did show the three together. GaoGaiGar on one knee, and Genesic GaoGaiGar and GaoFighGar standing next to it, shaking hands. It is sort of blurry, but it is there. }D

One thing I did notice, that I am not digging, is the little jet engines at GFG hips seem to pop off pretty easily *-(

Here's the image from the opening credits of last episode of Final. Holy Cow! Thanks TMZ! That's nice work there! Oh yeah, the "jets" on GFG's skirt do tend to pop off a lot when posing. Forgot to mention that. Thanks ActionAwesome. Gold

couldn't you just use SRC Gaogaigar's elbow joint? I mean...they are the same construction, right?

No worries Gold. Your review is so super thorough. I figured it was me actually. Every once on a while I run into a figure that my bodybuilder body and hands do not play well with hahaha. I often sweat when I fiddle with some parts on figures for the first time. Always afraid I am going to break them!

couldn't you just use SRC Gaogaigar's elbow joint? I mean...they are the same construction, right? Theoretically, sure, but how will you get the elbow joints to change places? It's not just a simple unscrew and swap, you'd have to bust the bicep halves apart and go direct for the elbow. The GGG's bicep is painted white while it's silver for the GFG so you can only work with the main elbow itself. Thanks Actionawesome. Gold

Gold if GaoFighGar has the same arm assembly, yes, it IS as easy as unscrew and replace...except it's more like Unpeg and Peg. it seems like GaoFighGar's arm assembly is about the same...so it might work.
