Here's my review for GaoGaiGar Key to Victory Set 2. A must have for all GGG fans!

Well, I finally got a chance to open my Key to Victory Set 2 last night. Unfortunately, I ended up a little disappointed on how the Stealth Gao II looks when attached to the figure. Nothing to do with stability, as my figure has a pretty tight waist joint. I guess its just that it looks way too big for the figure. I haven't watched the anime in a while, but I don't remember it being so big. I dunno, it was a bit of a let down. Obviously, I need to keep it if I want to recreate the GGG Final GaoFighGar vs GaoGaiGar battle scene, but until then it will be kept in its box and in the closet.

I finally got my hands on the second version GGG from the SRC line. Luckily, Bandai made some changes to the box art so you can somewhat distinguish the first from the second version. First version on the left. The 2.0 box front has GGG looking up and the text “Yuusha-Oh” is now in bolder font. Top view - those distracting lines across GGG’s face have been removed. Figure comparison. – First version on the left. On first glance, the figures look the same. But the 2.0 ‘s Drill knees are now more “golden” as opposed to dark orange of the first version (sorry, the colors don’t show on the pics). Also, the 2.0 GGG’s white parts are more uniformed in white. The original (on the left now in this pic) has some parts that have a slightly yellowish shade of white, particularly in the biceps and the rear sections, when compared to his thighs and back. Of course, the most important reason to get the 2.0 is that the 2.0 now has fixed joints, particularly in the shoulders (joint does not pop out so easily now) and the important groin joint. The first version’s groin joints were somewhat floppy, making GGG unable to hold forward kick poses and worse, a bit unstable, especially when you equip the Stealth Gao II / Star GGG parts. These problems are non-existent in the 2.0. The 2.0 can hold the forward kick pose no problem and feels more stable compared to the first version. Gold

Aw man. I didn't even realize they were doing an updated version. Oh well. I like my V1.0 well enough

I didn't know they were making an updated version either. That is bull$hit!!! We should be able to return the first version for a replacement!!! This makes me so mad... now I will most likely get rid of mine at a loss... }(

Yeah I know, I don't really recommend getting 2.0 unless you're particular about the leg joint stability. I kinda wished Bandai just rolled out a repair kit of sorts for the GGG leg instead. Funny thing is, I sort of expected something like this happening. I think I mentioned before that there seems to be some sort of curse with every GGG toy post Takara version. There's always a 2.0 version to follow after the first release (Cm's Corp. Maxfactory), not even the mighty Bandai was spared. lol Gold

A local shop here in the Philippines has some stocks, I guess you can also order it from Ebay or Hong Kong maybe? The problem is, it's not identified seperately from the first release. It's still called Super Robot Chogokin Gaogaigar. Your best chance is to ask the seller to provide a photo of the box. If Gaogaigar is now looking up instead of down, then that's the version 2.0. Look closely at the first pic I posted for reference EDIT: I edited the GGG 2.0 pic, it's now bigger Gold

It should also be noted that the stand that comes with the Key to Victory Set 2 can also be used for GGG if you don't own a Stage Act stand.

I'm keeping mine. I'm not as much of a fan of GGG as I am of the GaoFighGar. I can cope with the first version's downfalls, I guess. I was pretty tempted to buy the Ver.2 from HLJ since it was on sale, but it would've still come out at over $40 USD, so I convinced myself not to. }D

I had no idea Bandai even made any changes with the rerelease of the figure. Does anyone here happen to know if Amazon is selling the version 1 or 2 release?

No idea about Amazon but Amazon's prices are way too high if you check their SOC listings. Ebay might be a better option.

Mine is on its way, along with some Revoltechs and other stuff. However, I'm not really that excited about it. I might even sell it if it doesn't awe me from the get go...

Yeah I'm not a huge Volfogg fan but if your gonna collect GGG and want a complete set you have to get him. But he does look like he can be posed in some super nice poses.

i think if it was mae a little smaller and in scale with gaogaigar i would buy one, but it is too big to stand next to each other and look like the series.
