Ive been watching SyFy's, "Collection Intervention," and all I can say is that.... Thank goodness that I am not like those people! I have two glass caseses full of the color versions of the SOC, from GX-01 to 61 and I'm happy with just that (I don't have any more space, that's part of the reason why I am kinda happy that the line may end--THIS IS JUST A RUMOR). My nightmare is to have a house full of SOCs, leaving my home bereft of space and my wallet bereft of money.... Which can lead to divorce I am so glad that I am pretty disciplined when it comes to my collection/obsession. I know what I want (one brand and one line) and I don't branch out of it. I also like to be able to say that I have the whole collection/I've completed my goal. But yes, my wanting more will not completely end.... I am still missing some SOCs and I will most likely buy any new SOCs. I LOVE MY COLLECTION!!!

Well, those are just the tip of the iceberg. Now, think about those who buys $200 plus chogokins not in a set of 2 but maybe in 3, then u will start to realize the issue. The Host of the show isnt really "helping" the individual, but rather passing one's problem onto another. Who do you think are those people that are buying the stuff? "spreading the wealth"
Oh i got to admit that i am one of those people who overly obessive with my collections and paying easily 6 figures worth of toys.

What? You have a six figures worth of collection? I'm only around 10 grand with my SOC collection and I don't plan on really going beyond that amount. I can't wait for Collection Intervention to showcase someone from our group

Hey Heta, can you share a few Godaikins if you have 600 of each or so?

i only see little bit but i find this show pretty scary, i mean the thought of letting a stranger browse thought your colection to sell part of it make me uneasy. I can understand a collection can be out of control (mine is prety big but i control myslef ) but there is other way to deal with it than going to a tv show

I haven't watched that show, but I do know that my collection is getting out of hand. I've been collecting for as far as I can remember and I have boxes and crates full of stuff I really don't care much for anymore. I used to collect everything I liked, from Superheroes to movie and tv charaters, sci-fi stuff, and yes, super robots. I have most of my stuff in boxes all over the place. My biggest problem was that I would buy multiples and refused to sell anything. Well, that catches up with you at some point, and it is catching up with me now. So, once I retire and have time in my hands, I'll start getting rid of the stuff I have not interest on anymore... and then the multiples I purchased for no reason at all. ;D
One thing is for sure, I will never allow anyone to pick and choose what will be sold. Hell, I wouldn't allow anyone to even touch my stuff! ;D

What is a big collection? How are they determining its too big? I do not leave anything in boxes. If your collection is sitting in boxes...get rid of it.

At 2k a year it would take 50 years to spend 6 figures. Just saying.

I'm surprise to see other person spend 2k on toy, i spend a bit more than you per year in toy and figure (between 2.5 to 3k), and i think ( i really not appraise it ) my collection go easily into the 6 figure too if you count the collector value. But I'll never sell it even if i don't have any interest anymore because it's a part of me, so that why i find this show so intrusive.

I do not believe anything in boxes. If your collection is sitting in boxes...get rid of it. Right... Collectors like to keep their stuff as complete as possible, and that counts the original boxes too. There is only so much room in a house that can be dedicated to the collection, regardless of what the collection is about. Once that "display" area runs out, the collection has to be kept somewhere, even if that means it is not on display. Therefore, boxes and crates have to do, as they can be kept in attics, closets, garages, sheds, etc... It doesn't matter how you look at it, the stuff put away in boxes is still part of your collection and it should still mean a lot to you. I even have Daigokins and Jumbos put away in wooden crates, and those I will never get rid of! The are just huge space huggers that have to wait until there is room for them to be displayed. ;D }D

ask themazinger, i am sure his collections are worth way more than mine and well into the 6 figures. I actually used to keep track of how much money I spent on my collection, but I stopped when the total reached $27,000... That was back in 2002. I just found it a little depressing to keep track of such thing - it was a little embarrassing and scary too. Because, one thing is to know the estimated actual value of the collection, and a very different thing is to know how much money you have paid for all that stuff. }D

But all the figures have been taken out. I won't purchase if I don't have room for them. Then again, I did build a big shelf to put up on my desk. :-)

Okay TheMaz, well when your ready to sell a few, let me know. I am always hunting for that person that can help me complete my Godaikin collection. It all I want. Just to complete the original 3 DX series of Godaikins (series 1, series 2, and Godaikin Forces). I'm not much in to the rest of the robots besides a few of the SOCs. Besides my wife will only let me collect these since there is an actual small limit to the total collection if you own each one, and the total DX collection can be held in one corner wall case.

I keep an excel spreadsheet of all the toys I buy, where i bought them, how much I spent, etc, etc. I can't help it, I'm a financial analyst by trade....but it does put things in perspective when you see the total spent over the years.

Whew! I thought that I was going to get lots of angry responses after starting this thread. Hey, if any of you would like to discuss how I can keep happy and disciplined about my collection, feel free to touch base with me. I am looking at my two glass cases and I can honestly tell myself that I am happy with what I have. Isn't this nirvana? Okay, I want a little more but not much more. What I am looking forward to doing now is transforming some of my more complicated robots back to their ship modes. I've only transformed most of them once and I had so much doing it. Why not do it in reverse this time.

Get a wife. She'll put some discipline in it! Haha I don't get to buy much with out the bosses approval. Thats why my collection is slow going. The poor economy doesn't help either.
