Gold... Inventive use of Balikbayan boxes I have to see your collection the next time I'm in the Philippines. And you are welcome to see my SOCs here in Boston. Why would people want to buy empty SOC boxes? Thanks Mazfan I hope one day to be able to actually have some shelves set up.. maybe down the road, when the kids move out... in about 25 years or so, lol. Admit it, we are all sick in need of help. (Shakes head furiously in denial) Never!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Yeah I can see a market for the boxes and accessories, for folks that encounter "sh!t happens" scenarios. I have a friend who had termites eating into his storage, the boxes got all damp. It was a nightmare for the poor guy. I personally prefer using (sturdy/heavy duty) cardboard boxes over plastic tubs, as it can get insanely hot here in the Philippines and heat gets trapped in the tubs with the toys. Cardboard tends to "breathe" so heat doesn't get trapped in as much. The only real problem with cardboard are termites. So I try to check on them from time to time. Placing a huge sheet of plastic on the floor helps prevent/stop termites a bit too, from what I've seen. Just make sure the plastic sheet scales up the walls, around 8-10 Inches up the side of the walls. On a side note, for action figures I usually keep the cards, throw away the blister, but I trim the trays down to exact size before putting the figure and accessories into a Ziploc bag, so the joints won't warp when in storage. I'm fairly sure in about 10 years time, most of our toyrooms will look like this. ;D Gold

LOLOLOL!!!! Yeah, like I wish I WISH my toy room were That huge! ;D Now that I have a few more SOCs and an SRC, I gotta find or build some kind of bookshelf with glass doors to keep smoke and dust out from them. With the nice weather arriving, I'll also have to rig up an AC to suck out the air in my room. I learned a hard lesson last week with a couple of my former revoltech figures and their boxes. zozo-mag

You guys are making me feel like I don't care about my boxes the way I stack mine.... Anyone else like me here? Not so much into their SOC boxes?

As much as I'd like to fold down my boxes flat, I dare not do so, coz then they'll just get creased at the folds. That wouldn't look so good if I wanna display just the empty boxes on their own shelves.
When Not displaying my boxes I try to place the smaller ones inside the bigger ones IF there's no trays getting in the way. But, of course, most of these boxes do come with trays and coffins to store the figures and their accessories. Either way, I just Can't win! ;D

Btw, do you guys have a problem with molds when storing your toys in big carton boxes?

I haven't had mold attacks yet (knock on wood). Mold is the box killer, especially in humid environments.
A dehumidifier would help eliminate or reduce mold, wouldn't it?

OzmaLee... Thanks for sharing your pictures. Glad I am not alone in the way I store my boxes.... You're welcome. BTW, the boxes aren't empty. I'm the type that returns the toy in its box once I'm done fiddling with it. Putting everything back in the way it came is just as fun for me as the actually toy. I even have all the little plastic bags still.

OzmaLee... Wow, you immediately put your toys back in their boxes. I love to display and play with my SOCs. Plus, some are so complicated to transform that I am afraid to disassemble them. It would be a challenge for me to pack and move these robots--that would be a lot of work!

Btw, do you guys have a problem with molds when storing your toys in big carton boxes? I haven't encountered any yet, but I do advise throwing in lots and lots of silica packets into the boxes if you expect mold to happen. Also, throwing in Japanese paper into the storage boxes/bins also helps keep them dry. I usually include 3-4 sheets per 20x20x20 box, nothing fancy or spread out or lining the inner walls or anything, just opened/not folded. Airconditioning helps a little, but temperature fluctuations might cause mold to grow too (I think?). So best to minimize moisture instead. Dry heat is better than moist heat in this case. Gold
