Down to 15,980 yen, a 41% price drop from Amazon Japan. I would bite at this price. A couple of the reviews: A review said that the paint on the small fighters was misapplied/low quality, but the Yamato itself was good. Another said it was much better than the previous Yamato releases. Wow, that IS low, but lets see how low it can go ...

Original GX-57 Yamato went as low as 50% off at amiami.
Huge discount could be due to people not buying the Yamato 2199 because they already own the GX-57.

This one has not sold out anywhere. I doubt it will. The lack of reviews/excitement is telling.

I think it was released too soon after the last one. The 2199 anime is cool and all, but IMO, if I could only have one, I much rather have the version from the old anime instead. }D

Interesting that Bandai would gamble to release the two yamato versions too close together... Oh well, if it becomes really cheap, then I may be interested to get one...

I have seen a lot of the new 2199 one being sold "used" as well. That, and the huge price drop, may be telling Bandai something did not go as they expected. }D

Anyone know this version of yamato? how it compare to bandai version? Thanks The box says DeAgostini. This was a special bonus for those who collected the Yamato Fact File magazines. The model is nothing more than a slightly modified version of the Taito Super Mechanics Yamato. The main difference being the paint color, upper bow crown, and base/stand. I have the Taito model and the new GX-64. Both are approximately the same size. The Taito model is decent but it has a terrible flaw in that the turrets do not rotate fully due to a misdesign of the deck and turret. This flaw applies to the DeAgostini model as well. The new GX-64 blows away the Taito/DeAgostini model and all other renditions of the Yamato (save perhaps the new 1/500 kit). So unless you are a kit builder that can work on the 1/500, the GX-64 is what you want. The paint color, the shape, the detail, the gimmicks.. it's all absolutely fabulous on the GX-64. I'm willing to bet that if you're a Yamato/Starblazers fan and you pass on this, you'll regret it bigtime in the future.

Well, not necessarily. The 2199 Yamato is quite different from the original anime. In my case, I wish I had them all, but since I can't, then I rather have the old Yamato version instead. }D

I pre ordered from Amazon back in December and waited till their somewhat late release date of Feb 15th. I have Amazon prime so I expected the ship to come by Tuesday....it was not scheduled till Wednesday. Ok, no problem. This morning I received an email stating that they are having trouble fulfilling my order and they do not know when it can be delivered at this point. Way to go Amazon. What's the purpose of pre ordering if you can't fill the order and then wait till the day of supposed delivery to tell me there's a problem. Ok.Rant over. Move along.

At least copy and paste some of this post.

Amazon should allow you to order from a 3rd party of their site and they should comp you for the difference. That have done that for me in the past as a prime member.

Or many ordered when it was on sale at 194? ..

Am not really surprised with this not selling well. Hopefully the price goes down really low that I'd be willing to get one. It's more expensive than the robot soc's that have more play value. There's not much you can do with a ship other than display it.....or look like a complete idiot pretending to make it look like it's flying shooting down other ships

indeed... i may be a little more interested if it comes with special effects like a plastic wave motion gun effect or anything that will make it more awesome looking .. maybe a better stand for the Argo with different angles? Anything that will distinguish it from the plastic models ...
