I'm tempted to get a 2nd options set. Lol, that would be more like weapons/shield set with optional Gundam haha.

It's still at a fair price, so go for it and it probably will work with the white astrea if you are planning to get it. Red and white mix might look nice (?)

Just putting it out there that I'm going to be putting up my original release Lavaetein and Arbalest as a lot for $375 shipped to U.S. addresses in case anyone is interested. Both M.I.B. complete.

Whoa momma is the Metal Build label the benchmark these days... What makes you say this? Anyway, does anybody own or read reviews on Metal Century's Eva 01?

Thanks for the info. That sucks. It looked nice and I like the overall silhouette compared to upcoming MB Eva-01. I guess I'll be saving some money for now.

Yeah,I was thinking of taking the plunge despite the reviews - as you say the silhouette is much closer to the original animation. Maybe the reviewer is being fussy? Decisions, decisions...

Two of the feedbacks were negative. I don't mind the use of rubber as it suits the Eva figure but I do understand the concern of degradation over time. (Should probably stop buying Hot Toys stuff as well outside of Iron Man :/) I do wish there were more feedback on it but it seems not much bought it. The review says the lack of diecast but I was under the impression that the frame underneath the rubber was made of metal. I think I saw it somewhere but maybe I'm mistaken.

Yes, I do think it was described previously as metal build too? I suppose a wire frame beneath rubber could technically count as metal build, but not the same as gundam MB obviously. It looks good in the photographs, but if it degrades and has zero play value then it is a real shame. I really like the medicom Eva's but missed the boat so was hoping this would scratch my itch on the meantime!

Personally I am excited for the Metal Build Eva 1 coming out in February. Bandai did take design liberties but it still looks good. Plus the Metal Build has been solid, I am not aware of any "duds" in the line. Mafex seems to be a straight Eva 01 and 02 from the rebuild movies, looking forward to those as well.

I guess I could level my "these days" perspective. I have pretty much all their Gundam releases to-date and of course, the Mazinger Z. All of them are absolutely fantastic by my books: detailed, articulate, heavy...and absolutely stunning to look at. So, for their pricepoint, IMO, I think they are quite the benchmark.

Got the chance to tinker with my MB Freedom and Gold Frame. They really need to update Freedom. The shoulder cannons can't be displayed completely straight since the antenna/fin gets in the way. It has to be angled upward or spread sideways. Shield needs to be bigger as well. The Gold Frame is a really nice piece. Should have gotten this earlier. Design and details are excellent. This is definitely one of the better MBs released.

bleahI found a Chinese review on the Metal Century EVA-01. The reviewer spent a lot of time in the beginning laughing at the MSRP, saying he wasn't planning on getting it but then saw it on sale for about US$70 (RMB480) and he was still disappointed. Has some issues standing without display stand. Paint is not clean and bleeds out of line, the stitching of the rubber material can be seen on the back and it is very shoddy. The list goes on but he basically does not recommend buying it (unless you really love EVA-01 and can find it cheaper).
