Really wish I'd gotten daioja when he was in the bargain bin. *sigh* Considering collecting chogokins is hardly the cheapest possible toy collecting, I'm surprised how easily people are discouraged when something costs only 16k yen...

I KNOW this isn't a cheap hobby. However, even if it is a cool looking well engineered figure, I have no attachment to the character to justify spending the original asking price. Esp when I have other lines I'm interested in. Anyway, Trider is back up for PO on amiami for anyone that missed out.

Despite being, pretty much, an obscure character, I'm glad Bandai made this guy. It's bringing the fun back into soc collecting

Trider G7 is not that obscure. It is quite popular in the SRW games. Obscure will be characters like Govarian, Daikengo, and Acrobunch to name a few. Just think about it, when was the last time you saw those robots in a SRW game if ever?

Obscure will be characters like Govarian, Daikengo, and Acrobunch to name a few. And God Mazinger! Really, I think the only reason Trider would be considered "obscure" is because unlike his Invincible brothers, Trider remains unavailable in English. I would, however, consider Trider to be part of what I could describe as "second tier" classic super robot, along with not just Daitarn and Zambot, but Combattler, Voltes and Daimos as well.

Combattler and voltes are waaay more popular than trider ! Not to say that he doesn't have his fan base but they have bigger fans than what he has

If that is the definition of obscure, then there are lots of Super Robots anime that were never translated in English. To me obscure is something that was released once in its home market, and then no one bothered to revisit for many years until some entrepreneur decides to re-release the anime in blue ray, make an OVA, or make a modern toy of it.

Where's a good place to buy English dubbed versions? I don't understand Italian nor Japanese.

None of those shows are dubbed and if they are their hack jobs. Your best bet is to hunt down Fansubs if any.

You have to look at these robots in 2 distinct forms as too their rarity, the anime availibilty, and also were their toys prevelant vintage wise. the odd thing si teh rarest of characters were represented WELL amongst vintage tioys, although the shows were rarely if ever seen after their release. Tryder was a huge seller for clover, you see him alot in collections, despite the anime not being in english. You also see a TON of Govarian out there and also Daikengo is one of the most valuable DX sets out there, along with Diapolon AND Acrobunch
! If you look at it that way No they are not obscure if you know them from collecting vintage, but look at their anime availibility...VERY obscure, and not many have seen the shows! So if we are talking USA,it depends if either you know them from collecting vintage,or if the anime is/was availlable. Most know these robots from the toys, not their anime counterparts.I strive to obtain and watch all these rare shows .Remember when these toys came out they were wanted because of the shows that aired. Now they are coveted because of their aesthetics. I mean Daikengo,Govarian,Tryder,Diapolon and Acrobunch are staples of vintage collecting,I bet VERY few collectors even watch more than just Voltron, its sad really, but then again they are very appealing as characters alone, but their history and shows are very fun and need to be seen and cherished!

I agree with the above statement as it holds true to guys like us who grew up watching these animated shows and begged our parents buy the toys. But remember the toys were readily available because the animated shows were fresh. Eventually most of those anime like Dai Apolon, Govarian and Acrobunch were shelved away in favor of more popular robot franchises, and production of those toys also faded away. Until some company decides to release a modern version of a toy because someone else is working on a blue ray DVD release or a new OVA; i.e., Galvion and Atlanger come to mind. And let's face it, at least in the US most people know about Trider due to the SRW games rather than the anime.

Zambot, Daitarn, Combattler and Voltes can all be found with english subs, and Voltes can be found with a dub as well; Daimos exists in dub only form and Trider...has neither. I have to admit that I haven't paid much attention to shows that are only partially translated; Danguard Ace has only the first seven episodes subbed, Raideen has 25, Great Mazinger has 21...but Trider, God Mazinger, Govarion and many others have only episode 1 subbed - probably as a way to gauge interest. Kinda makes you wonder how the hell God Mars got all 60+ episodes subbed... the odd thing si teh rarest of characters were represented WELL amongst vintage tioys, although the shows were rarely if ever seen after their release. Tryder was a huge seller for clover, you see him alot in collections, despite the anime not being in english. You also see a TON of Govarian out there and also Daikengo is one of the most valuable DX sets out there, along with Diapolon AND Acrobunch Well isn't there a perfectly reasonable explanation for that? Since the characters are practically unknown outside Japan and Italy, the demand for the vintage toys is low but the supply is high, making them a lot easier to find compared to the more popular robots.

I disagree. The vintage toys prices have scaled to almost absurdity. And I am not talking about perfect samples, but damaged, incomplete and usually loose samples.
Otherwise, I could have added the Dai Apolon DX combiner set, the Dai Apolon Jumbo, and the Daikengo Build Plan boxset already. I was lucky to get complete, mint, non-played Govarian DX for a reasonable price 5-6 years ago. But then again, back then it was an unwanted figure even by most vintage toy collectors.

How long ago did you download the Daltanious files? I only see select episodes being offered, but not the entire series. And the select episodes being offered are no longer being seeded by anyone. All the older links are dead/removed.
