I own Daitarn and Zambot. Skipped Daioja and Trider. I just did not like their respective anime. TBH, I didn't like Daitarn's anime much either, but it is a pretty famous Super Robot, so I got it. Zambot, I truly enjoyed it's anime, so it was a no-brainer to get it. }D

You didn't like the corny Meganoids and Haran Banjo's potential menage trois with Reika and Beauty? lol

My favourite part in Daitarn 3 is whenever someone other than Banjo pilots it, they still recite the "shine of the sun" speech.
I'm pretty sure TMZ skipped Daioja and Trider because neither is in english...

I got my Tryder in the other day from BBTS. Same chest issue as the others, but not quite as bad so I'll deal with it. Not sure why they didn't at least put plastic over the chest to protect it.
;D

With all these chest issues (and I've heard some complain their thighs were not properly glued together), I'm hesitant to but this figure. I was hoping that BBTS would be a safe bet, but tamujen proved that theory wrong. I guess this is a hit or miss deal.

The best way to go about it is go with a retailer that has a helpful return policy. For anyone really wanting this figure but is choosing to wait/sleep on it for a while, the risk of getting a damaged chested figure goes up especially after the figure is out of production and not in helpful retailers stock, and is remaining in the secondary market. Buyer beware by then. I store my gold chest piece separately in a acid free ziplock, when I don't have Tryder displayed.

Funny thing. I own almost all those Super Robots released so far but aside from Jeeg, Gaiking, Mazinger, Gakeen, Voltron and Vehicle Voltron, I have never seen any of their respective animes. Hell, I own over 3 dozen Getter figures and I have never watched the anime. I simply buy stuff cause Mazinger was awesome and I assume the other robots are just as awesome.

After reading about all the problems some of us are having with the chrome on the chest, I thought I would weigh in. I bought one from Amazon.ca and also found the same problems with the one I received. I decided to ask for a replacement. I got that one too with an even worse chest piece. I decided to take a closer look at how Bandai packed these and what I found is that the figure does not fit snugly in the foam tray. There is a gap between the chest of the figure and the one piece of foam that is meant to keep it in place. Now this is only my opinion, but I think that during shipping the figure shifts back and forth rubbing up against the tape on the foam retainer and it causes the scratches and wearing on the chrome chest piece. Needless to say I didn't try a third time and decided to forego Trider G-7 altogether and send the second one back too and asked for a refund. It really is a shame as I quite liked the figure and it's design, but I don't want to chance it again on a third one. I really think Bandai should have had the chrome chest piece packed separately in the box. That might of helped reduce any of these issues that a lot of us are having with this SOC.

This is exactly the situation I was afraid of. First off I wasn't sure how BBTS would handle the return for a scratched chest piece and second what happens if I get the second one in worse condition. Thankfully, mine really isn't in that bad of shape warranting a return. I agree with you totally that the tray design does not help prevent the issue. Why is there tape on the back of the foam bar across the chest? It certainly is not helping protect the chest piece. I think the best thing would have been a small sheet of plastic to cover the chest that prevents contact with the foam bar. Unfortunately, I just moved so I have not even taken it out of the container yet. I just cracked the box to check the chest for piece of mind. ;D

Excellent observation on the packing issue. It really makes me feel super fortunate I got an excellent replacement and make me value my Tryder 10x more than I already did. I'd really be saddened if he was missing from my collection. I remember seeing pictures of Tryder in my Japanese neighbors books from Japan during the early 80's. That golden crest imagery is so iconic and has stuck to my memory ever since. I also feel that its not impossible to fully fix a damaged chest piece with an airbrush and a bottle of Testors Metallizer enamels.

I had thought of that, as I have an airbrush and all the supplies I would need to fix it, however I figured that I am spending over $200 for it and I shouldn't have to fix it. It should come as pictured on the outside of the box or at least within a reasonable margin of error. It really stinks as I was so looking forward to Trider. Oh well I may revisit him if it goes on a steep discount. In the mean time Bandai will still be getting my money from the Macross Frontier DX Chogokin line .

Got my Trider the other day from BBTS. If had a slight scuff on the chest, but nothing major/anything I'm going to put up a big stink about. What upsets me is the lack of ankle tilts ! Just limits the poseability so much on what would've otherwise been a perfect figure. I still like it a whole hell of a lot, but it falls just short of "elite SoC" status for me. I need ankle tilts !!

Awesome, thanks ! Only problem is the forward and back ankle joint is very loose, and he likes to dip forward at the slightest provocation. My Daimos had a similar problem, only the bottom of his leg would hit the foot when he started to lean forward, keeping him from falling over. Trider doesn't have that support, so he's gonna make me nervous on the shelf.

How loose are we talking regarding the ankles? I display my Chogokins in a wood cabinet, and the door is kind of tight. I wouldn't want him tipping over each time the cabinet shakes a tad when I open the door. Is it really that bad?

Does that give you a good idea?

I don't recall having the same issue on mine. I would suggest collapsing the ankles back in once you reach a pose you like, ankles don't need to be pulled all the way out or pushed all the way in. This way you limit it's motion and avoid tipping.
