42 here. Been collecting since High school. I watched Robotech, Starblazers and Force Five and that was the beginning. Then I learned Of their origins and found Madox-01, Bubblegum Crisis, Do you Remember Love, and Urotsukidoji and the obsession began. Never stopped collecting since then although my focus shifts periodically. I collect swords ( live functional swords, not stainless steel junk) guns, masks, art, old muscle cars, obscure horror flicks, vinyl and mainly toys though. Wow. You are blessed, mate, if you can afford all of those things. Specially cars. I bet there are not many car collectors here in RJ. Actually I have a few vintage European cars myself.

Im 39 and I think I started like 2005 in rj after that i never look back. Thou i tend to streamline my stuff but my preference keeps expanding. Anyway i am not sure how i find this thread related under the SOC thread. But its interesting to find out that the majority of collectors in Rj are in the same age bracket as me. Hey Bro its started here because Im speaking of SOC/Diecast collectors mainly, the other stuff we collect just shows a bit more of our personality. Its for our section and people we encounter here everyday,Most of us only stay within this section or related sections. Also I wanted to see the demographic of ages of SOC and Diecast collectors.if this was done in teh general section it would be ALL ages as Jumbo collectors vs.Revoltech collectors for instance is 2 completely different money brackets, money usually comes with age,so it wouldnt show anything but a widespread age group. Here we see ages fall into the 30-50 age bracket for most SOC collectors,it makes sense. Also when I go to other sections I dont know anyone, and dont really care to get to know people I dont read on the regular,as it has no bearing for me,the same people frequent here and we are a tight nit group. Its a test to see ages of people who collect a certain type of toy.It would be cool in each section if one of the standout members in each section did so.. See why i chose this section now?Just want you to understand my view thats all!

Speaking of specific maybe the title should have been something like "how old are we SoC collectors". But anyhow please carry on as im also interested in the demographic numbers of collectors here in RJ.

I'm 49 plus 4 months old. I started collecting in the Fall of 2006 right before I joined Robot-Japan in December of 2006. My first collection figures: of course, old Banpresto Mazinger-Z... ...the Rocket-punch posed hard vinyl statue, a couple of Maz gashapons and a couple of old Mazinger-Z paperweights that were broken but I still wanted them anyway. LOL.... I'm a happy young "geezer" here! (PS: I... Hate... Winter. lol) zozo-mag Looks like we should start calling Magengar "Senpai" Oh, and I'm going to be very surprised if we get a 10-19 age bracket click on the poll. I think not even Japanese teens collect Robots? Gold

Hello daddies ! I am 41 and started to re-collecting in 1999 because of SOC line creation. Before, I collected some G1 Transformers I traded with some Popy robots. Now I am reducing a lot (and selling) to focus on few collections and also turned this in my favor for my job (toy design and other)... Magengar is our Sempai for sure

I just signed into the full site on the desktop and bumped the 30-39 group into first. :-)

Hey that's right. I do remember seeing a few female RJ members here about 6 or 7 years ago... What happened to them?
We didn't have a lot of female members, but we did have a few and they were active on the boards for a while.

I'm 39 today. For years, I had been searching for a forum that had members that shared a sheer passion for robots; however, in most forums I posted on, the extent of most people's fanfare was limited to Transformers, Voltron or at most Macross/Robotech. And while I love those brands, I really wanted die-hard discussions about the iconic super robots of the 70's and early 80's that I associated rare childhood memories with. My posts would get ignored about Godaikins or jumbo's either because people didn't know much about them or they didn't care. lol
And then one day I found Robot Japan and now my hobby has so much clarity now. And the #1 thing I love about this forum community is the maturity which says a lot about the age brackets in this thread. I really am relieved that I can carry discussions or ask questions and not get ridiculed or flamed or be validated by my post count.
