The gif animation that you have on the signature makes it hard to read the thread. it's dizzying watching it over and over... Ok I've removed it just for you.Ill watch when I eat peanuts too when typing , never know who may be allergic.

Darn that Baron and his hypmotizing Gakeen gif!! I fell right off my chair while online. Doh! LOL
Back on topic, I haven't heard back via email from the NYC shops about getting this Chogokin Walker book in, so gonna call 'em tomorrow. I like picking stuff up in person at a store!

Yeah! Some reviews on it already going around. It's a bit bigger sized Mook than the earlier Chogokin & Jumbo vintage guidebooks.
Available more places now, Amazon & bookstores.

just receive the book today, came in a box from amiami! btw i notice what appears to be a black garbin at the bottom left corner of the cover, i can only assume its a mail order item? can someone who have received the book confirm?
edit: the black garbin is covered in page 102 and 103, looks more like a very rare vintage specimen instead (not mail order as what I previously thought haha), just like the black raideen shown in page 103.

Just received mine. I am a bit underwhelmed. I guess I was expecting more SOCs featured. I'm not loving this book because I am not into vintage looking robots. I much prefer the all SOCs book.

I actually dislike the previous unrelated roman albums because they are too SOC heavy. I prefer vintage stuff. Can you expand a bit on what the book covers? If you didn't order from a vendor with an insane rate and are in the US, I'd consider taking the book off your hands if you're looking to get rid of it. Just throwing that out there, as I haven't ordered one yet, and was waiting for more feedback/reviews (or pictures) before I did.

But, otherwise, the book is an overview of the SoC line with (not all releases) and their vintage originals...so, some nice comparison images between past and present. Once you're past the mecha section, you have some images of Tokusatsu figures (vintage) and Popynica stuff...again, a summary of the past releases. I would say this book has more vintage material than the SoC books (Volumes 1-3) released a few years back. Does that help? Again, let me know if you want some images...

Images from anyone would be great. Most of my books are the vintage books.
If I decide to sell my SOC based books/roman albums I will let you all know. Not sure if I have one or two laying around.

I received mine recently. Nothing exceptional, most of the stuff here can been seen from other publications. Nice book but not a must have.

Once you get past that it has a lot of vintage stuff, you will understand that robot toys in Japan is less a hobby and more a culture that they love and respect. Diecast toys has a long and varied tradition in Japan that a lot don't get its tough but once you steep yourself in it it actually makes you appreciate the newest and greatest stuff even more. You can't see where your going if you don't remember where you've been.

I guess I would appreciate the new book more if I could speak Japanese.
I've asked this before but are there any Japanese or Japanese Americans that are members of our message board? I know quite a number of Japanese Americans (from growing up, high school, college, grad school, etc....) and none of them are into Soul of Chogokins or die-cast robots or Anime. It's crazy!!! When I tell them about my obsession, they are just very nonplus about it.

True it's hard especially when you don't understand the language but after awhile you understand that this is a culture that still has masters that make samurai swords of the highest quality even though there's no need for it at the same time they also have transforming toy sushi that turns into robots. Its very safe to say that Japan and the stuff we love from that country is from a land that is very unique lol.

Noticed a couple of pages dedicated to Gardian/Gordian, perhaps Bandai is hinting something down the road?
