Def, if it doesnt tug at your heart string, wait till the inevitable sale. And I fully agree with sending a message with your dollar.
Dont get me wrong, it is a really nice src. Just dont expect ton of diecast on the outside. Also again, 90 percent of the fig is bare, unpainted color molded ABS plastic.

I really like it, I'll just wait for a sale cause the price really bothers me and my budget is super limited.

This is definitely grabbing my attention, especially since I never had the heart to get the Yamato version

Wow. 6480 JPY + 980 JPY SAL shipping (HLJ quote) = 7460 JPY = 96.70 CAD And that's for a Super Robot Chogokin on sale at nearly half price off. That's why I barely buy anything new these days. But thanks for the heads up. It's appreciated anyway. I was ready to jump on it... until I did the math. I already have the Yamato brick, but this one does look really fine. Especially with those Medicom UDF figures of Whats-his-name-boy-in-shorts, Ginrei and co. coming out. Though Medicom's own 30cm VCD Giant Robo vinyl statue looks really good too.

i already have the yamato with tons of diecast. iM satisfied with it so i guess no need to get this except if its on big sale. Was thinking , just maybe get the revoltech just for the possability. though i must admit, Bandai's SRC are quality.

In my opinion the SRC is a much better figure than either of them despite the lower diecast content.

as much as i wanted another GR to fiddle with.. that SRC just too small compared with yamato's version besides.. Yamato's Giant Robo looks good in scale when displayed with SOC Big-o.

Of course Bandai have displayed an SRC Big O prototype at past shows. And they really never ever give up a design or idea. Just slow walk them to production at their own speed. So we will likely see that robot eventually.

Yeah, if you have a budget for either Yamato or Revo, id put that money towards $80 shipped SRC GR..... Yamato's Giant Robo was running at 35-50usd back then.. but while SRC is pricier.. if u want Bandai quality stuff regarless of the smaller size.. for a little more money.. go for Bandai.

But if u still dont own one.. just buy the SRC GR version.. then wait for SRC Big-O..

Hi all, here's the review for the Super Robot Chogokin Giant Robo - The Animation Version Giant Robo's attacks are mostly physical based, with Robo usually just smashing through whatever's in his way. Hip cannons Missile attack! Rocket Bazooka This requires some parts swapping to make it show accurate. Size comparison Comparison with the Yamato Toys Giant Robo The Good-Diecast parts are limited to the red rings on his arms and legs (not whole legs), and the main joints. -Chest connector attachment for the Rocket Bazooka is solid diecast. -Figure weighs 316 Grams and stands 6.25" tall. (For comparison, SRC Mazinkaiser weighs 277-304 Grams and Genesic Gaogaigar weighs 344 Grams). Other notable weights -Yamato Toys Giant Robo (790 Grams) -Gun cannons on his hips can move freely, as opposed to "fixed-in-position" sculpts. -Gotta love the loud clicking sound whenever you tilt Giant Robo's hips, all thanks to the interesting hip joint design of the figure. The Bad-No Daisaku Kusama figure. It would've been great to pair it with Tetsujin 28's Shotaro Kaneda (Both characters were created by Manga scribe Mitsuteru Yokohama). -No alternate face plate, to recreate the final scene where Daisuke rides inside Giant Robo's damaged face. I think that would've been cool. -Giant Robo's color scheme seems a bit off for me. I don't recall Giant Robo being so... blue. Rewatching the OVA, he seemed more pale gray to me. The Yamato Toys version seems more accurate. -Lack of missile racks for the chest sections - In the finale of the show, missiles not only pop out of Robo's shoulders, they even pop out of his chest panels. The UglyWell... nothing really to complain about here in terms of design and quality control. I guess maybe the lack of accessories for something that has such a high price point? I was really surprised at the SRP of this figure, considering it only has a handful of accessories, not even a stand or effects parts? Maybe the rights to produce the toy was high? I can't say. I do recall getting the old Yamato Toys Giant Robo for less than this, and it had lots more metal and heft to it, to make up for lack of accessories. Overall, while the figure doesn't offer much in terms of "bang for the buck", it is considered heavy, compared to the usual SRCs. It's pretty decent as far as quality and execution goes, but the price just kind of ruins it. Unless you're a fan of the OVA, or a completionist, this might not exactly "hit the spot" as an impulse buy. Funfact: The 1992-1998, 7-episode OVA "The Day the Earth Stood Still" took 6 years to be completely released (10 years including inception and production). Funfact 2: Despite the series being finished resolution at the end, the last part of the OVA sets up a sequel regarding the final confrontation between BF Group and The International Police Organization, leaving viewers with a cliffhanger of sorts. But since the series suffered from low sales, I guess the "sequel" won't be happening anytime ... ever? Gold

Nice Gold.
I have the Yamato and SRC versions too. Your review described them both beautifully. I have the VHS and DVD anime sets. The musical score is magnificent and the characters are enjoyable.
Thanks for the fun facts.

Regarding, the color.. I took a quick look in my cabinet and its blueish gray, nothing like the photos on here. I checked on both the ipad and laptop and it looks blue in the photos. Is it lighting or is that really the shade of blue in hand? My GR doesnt look that blue.
