It's partly the lighting, but the figure is indeed too blue even in natural light. The Yamato Toys color is much more accurate to the duller colors of Giant Robo in the OVA . Gold

Just for comparisons. Here is what mine looks like in natural light.

Thanks Guys. Quickly running out of room. Still have so much stuff packed away because of limited space.

this is another under appreciated src... Its a big heavy very articulated figure that was priced to little high for the market bear.
Diecast is allocated to places so you can feel them anyway you hold the figure. Ingenious. Its a really nice figure around $60 to $70 shipped.
I highly recommend him at around that price.

Can you imagine my joy when I saw him at $55 on HLJ? I owned both versions of the Yamato figure sealed and sold them because I wasn't completely sure I wanted them for my collection. At least if it was an SOC they would only need one version that has all of his signature weapons instead of two separate ones so they could make more money. Or simply they weren't capable enough of creating a single figure that has both the Bazooka AND missiles.
The other issue I find with this one is that it doesn't come with the chest missiles even though it clearly has the capacity for them. That's a head scratcher for me, Bandai.

I'll agree he is nice and over priced. But I definitely find him middle of the pack overall for SRC's. he has some nice heft. But that bare pearl blue swirly plastic finish really is distracting. The head also seems small, but I haven't seen enough anime Giant a Robot to know if that's what it is supposed to look like.

its ok. but its so boring to look at. it has almost no color other than that blue. i definitely think an effect part of cannon fire should have been given to spice this bot up some.
it should cost about 40 bucks. i paid far more. thats why i feel so burned on this one.

Great pics again GTMQ8!!! Man you are on your game.
I have that Giant Robo too. I loved the anime. The score was phenomenal!!
I wish Daisaku was in scale to Giant Robo but I'm thinking I should get him anyway.

I watched it last month on Netflix (Japan) and it's still as good as I remember. Oh yeah if he was at scale he would be really tiny so you will need a meter tall Giant Robo figure to get a scale with this one. It's still cool though.

It's only 7 episodes and there are some plot holes due to the difficult release schedule they faced but man oh man is it a pure instant classic. Great story, characters, music and designs.

All things considered...the animation version is way better looking than the classic live action version.

I've never seen the live action version so I should check it out to have my experience complete. The anime is definitely the way to go IMHO.
When my daughter was little she would turn around like she was hanging unto Giant Robo as Daisaku does and shout "Crush them now Giant Robo!"
Then I would make the "OHMMMM!" sound for her. LOL!
Good times.

Not a favourite of mine - I prefer the OVA version myself - but was a GR: GIANT ROBO (2007 series) figure ever made? I don't remember seeing one.

I watched maybe two episodes of the 2007 series then I was like...nope. Sorry. It doesn't hold a candle to the OVA series.
