Mostly like not diecast, but this is a start. Let the toys BEGIN!!! love it! no lions legs showing! i know its not a combining voltron, but it looks great, just like the mattel blazing sword version. yes, these will be the only two that actually look like they did in their shows.

Okay guys, so the company doing the toys for the Netflix Voltron is Playmates. And the one you see a few posts above is their large non-combining version. However, they have an assortment of different Voltron toys including a combining one that will sell the lions separately. See them in the link below! Warning, they do not show pictures of the combined mode of the "combining lion" toy yet. The individual lions look pretty good though and come with a grand assortment of weapons and even a tiny pilot! nerdist.com/playmates-voltron-legendary-defender-toy-line-helps-you-protect-the-universe-exclusive/?gallery=445861#gallery

Just to recap and make things easier to follow. Here're the "Basic" $9.99 figures. Basic Voltron (non-transforming) Basic Robeast Myzax ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Legendary Lion" Class figures -More details and comes with weapons -each lion will have 18 points of articulation (P.O.A.) -Pilot Speeder bikes! Yes!! -Black Lion will have 50 electronic sounds (some sounds exclusive to when Voltron is formed) - Fully combined, Voltron will be 16" Tall!!!!! Each of the Legendary Lions class will cost 17.99, Except for Black, since it has electronics, it will go for $29.99 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ultimate Voltron" -14" tall -26 P.O.A.s -Does not transform -Features electronics -$39.99 Oddly, for me, the "Ultimate" title doesn't seem to fit the toy, as it supposedly cannot transform, and is shorter than the fully combined form of the "Legendary Lion" version. Go figure. Images courtesy of Nerdiest.com and Toynewsi.com Gold

thank you for the info Gold it looks awful honestly a very childish looking toy, the only one that kinda pop out more is the Legendary Lion class, but its still to early to judge since we didnt saw it combined yet, it will cost $102 to get them all here is whats going to happen, a company will milk this guy for the next 10 years then a Chinese company going to do an unofficial release which is better than this, then Bandai will do it LOL

First picture of combined mode. Looks decent, but maybe there's some things mistranformed on this guy. The arms look way too long and big. The one good thing this guy does is generally concealing all of the lion legs.
I tried uploading the picture, but RJ is being funky.

Hey nice, I wasn't sure if the lion legs could be hidden, but I'm glad they do. Sadly the arms look misproportioned. Well, I'll still pick this up for my 6 year old son to mess with. Up till now, he's only been playing with Combiner Wars Transformers, it will be nice to let him get his own super robo toy (we both have no love for Sentai ) Gold

looks pretty good, granted the combine form of the legendary set is misstransform it still looks pretty good. Will this figure be on all retail stores including websites or just exclusive to one store and website?

I was thinking. The price point is relatively cheap compared to everything else we buy.
I might get one just to have in my collection and never display it. Just wait until it becomes vintage. I'm sure there will be better renditions from better companies. This is made by play school right? I think whoever made that decision should be demoted. They could held us up and took our money for real instead of trying to rob us with this kid's toy.

I watched this series with my Girlfriend. It's crazy how the younger/tumblr crowd is latching on to the characters the way they do. Didn't think I'd see that with a voltron cartoon.
Overall it's a decent show. My GF was complaining that they showed the combining animation every episode and I told her the combining animation is the best part. Haha.
Anyway, it's pretty good. The old show wasn't great tbh but I like it.
The Mech design is fine in my opinion. It's a little flashier and not as blocky as I'd like, but I think it stays true to the original.

I'm getting this for my 7 year old son, and I'll probably wind up buying the rest of the line as well. But, does it look like some bean counter in upper management forced the designers to make the arms and legs the same size, so they will be at the same price point?

But, does it look like some bean counter in upper management forced the designers to make the arms and legs the same size, so they will be at the same price point? most probably because the front legs of the red and green lion are been store inside which makes them more bulky, as for the yellow and blue lion ido agree they look smaller in comparison( specially when there heads form the feet of voltron is that small).
