I love the show. I love the character development. I love the animation. I love that there is finally a show from the USA that represent Super Robots properly. Is this show airing worldwide? Is everyone able to watch this? Well so far in the Philippines it's not available for local Netflix. But at least we got torrents so I'm good. Marathoned Season2 yesterday, man, I want to watch Season 3 now! Gold

I guess the show it better than the toy. LOL!! It depends on what your expectations are. For an off the shelf mass market retail toy it really is quite good. With nice firm clicky ratchet joints everywhere. It's much much better than most of the Power Rangers offerings or recent retail Transformer or Star Wars stuff. But it's not a Gokin. It's not an adult targeted collectible. It's a mass produced kids toy. Fit and finish is plastic. With mass market paint apps. It will look like a Walmart toy standing next to your GX-71. Love it for what it is. How often to we get to see one of our beloved robots on the shelves at Target, Walmart and TRU.

Gold - I'm glad to hear that everyone can watch the show. I hope Voltron becomes a worldwide phenomenon- just like it was in the USA when I was a kid.
Phaelon - you're absolutely right on all counts. It's awesome to be able to go to Toys 'R Us and pick up a giant combiner. For a toy, it is very nice. It's much more solid than the floppy "Combiner Wars" thing I paid $120 USD for - and no more expensive.(No offense to Transformers fans - I like transformers. I have 3 vintage carrying cases and a large bookshelf full of them). It's definitely much nicer than all of the Megazords my kid has accumulated. The plastic quality is higher and the colors are deep and bright. It will appeal to fans and casual collectors, too. And, they are selling really well. I couldn't find the black lion in any store on it's release date(Jan 1). People were actually phoning the Toys'R US information desk while I waited for a clerk to to find one in the stock room. I wound up ordering from the BBTS. I really hope this affordable robot brings more mass appeal to our hobby.

However, they are making a smaller 9 inch tall diecast combining figure that might closer to what we want as collectors.

That strikes me as a feature that is amusing for 5 minutes and becomes excruciating thereafter. Also what's the betting pool on when some news channel posts click bait claiming some kids Voltron is playing obscene sound clips?

I believe there is an off switch for the electronics. And of course you can always just take out the batteries.

Ordered this for my kids. Though, I'm probably just as excited for it. FixedinPost - your kids will love this! But, they will definitely get frustrated trying to remove the arms. There are instructional videos on YouTube showing a method in which you force the arms inward toward the chest. Don't do this - it didn't work for me, and it loosened my red lion's elbows. It really pissed me off. I'm pretty sure these people have never handled a Voltron - or any other robot for that matter. I came up with an easy method, so my 7 year old can do it. If you have a vintage Voltron, you know to remove the arms by pulling up & out. The underside of the red/green lion pushes against the shoulder, causing release. ( I place a piece of paper at the contact point, so the gold ring doesn't skuff). The problem with the Legendary Defender is that the the lion's underside doesn't make contact with the shoulder. All that you/your kids have to do is firmly hold a 2×3 Lego brick between the top of the shoulder and the lion's groin area (right above the plug in point). This forms a wedge and provides leverage. Then, pull the arm up & out to the side - just like with a Matchbox Voltron. It only takes the strength of a child - It is really easy. I'd like to post a quick video. Could someone please tell me how to do this?

Also, there is a power switch on the Legendary Defender's back.
I'll definitely buy a diecast Playmates Voltron. The toy is really well designed. I hope the diecast version's head turns. That's the one thing I wish the toy could do.

i didnt see any reviews for that yet, is it good ? We have no clue yet - all we have seen so far are the individual lions and considering it's supposedly not coming out until the Fall they were probably painted resin prototypes.

These guys are still a bit hard to come by in my little corner of So Cal. All I was able to find is the black and yellow lions. Maybe I can find the rest this weekend.

Here is a clip of my 7 year old easily removing the Legendary Defender's arms. If you/your kids don't have the arm and shoulder strength of Josh B, this is the ticket.

to make it even easier, try to use some sandpaper on the grey joints. Just a bit to smooth the edges. Then, it'll work like a charm.

The whole Galaxy Garrison and cadets, with the uniforming. Plus the Earth vehicles look like they could be used to make a reasonable Dairuger update. I don't know if they will ever do it (VV did have its downsides in the old show. To many characters to keep a coherrant story and people preferred the more solid and relatable 5 person Lion force.) but somebody altered in enough Easter eggs at the beginning to make it possible.

To my surprise my nephew ask me if there's voltron figures of this guy last year after watching the new show (fully recommended). at the time it was not available, just recently i went to my local wallmart and saw they where selling the figures of this guy, however only the big articulated voltron figure and the small line figures. the combining ones where completely sold out according to an employee but there bringing more during the week so still on the look out for them.
i purchase the 14''articulated one for my nephew's birthday so is in the closet hidden, for what i could see so far looks pretty good, not SoC good but good enough to put it in your collection. But what i find it interesting is that it has some battle damage instead of been a pristine one which is sort of rare to see it.
But yes this figures are really aim for kids than the adult collectors and it should be as such, we were kids just as well and still find it weird some collectors are asking a toy kid to be high end metal figure is very akward.
btw, i never knew playmates is making a 9'' combining diecast version of this guy, is there any pics available of it? im interest to see that.
Also people remember, don't get use to the look voltron has because according to an interview voltron will change during the story.
