I will hold my judgement until I have it in hand. MP dairugger wasn't the worst toy in the world in comparison to some crap I actually picked-up before but still the change to SOC titling is a little troubling. Perhaps 'spirit' implies a throw back to the past? Not sure but it does seem to have a lot of die-cast to this release. I really hope Bandai does it justice in the end is all I ask... been waiting too long for it to feel disappointed in the end. Lord knows when they'll do another one given the last one was done back in the 80s that's well over 30+ years... if this is the cycle of a new dairugger release I'll be too damn old and senile by the time the next one arrives

Don't worry about the 'spirits' thing. Its the magazine article column, not a re-branding or subline of SOC. 🤣 LOL

I need to see it in dynamic pose fully painted. But I do see what bros are saying about the proportion... I love the metal count though. Damn that's sexy. If its priced around Voltron, then Bandai probably has my wallet. No matter how you slice it, it's Dairuger XV, so Dynamic Posing will always be heavily constrained by the fact that you are combining 15 little bits into one big one and hoping it doesn't fall apart, let alone hit the Iron Man pose. Just from looking at this I think the arms are better articulated than the MM. I don't see any signs of the MM's rather clever butterfly shoulders. We might have a waist swivel, but I can't see any expansion joint or ab crunch. It's just not in the robots design. Knees and feet look about the same between SOC and MM for jointing. and just to remind everyone, this is the original Popy/Matchbox Proportions aren't even close. The original Voltron I/Popy DRXV had much straighter legs. The lower legs weren't so oversized and the thighs not so narrow. Also the original's arms looked much more like the MM, with the middle narrow section being almost hidden when the arms were straight. While I am almost certainly going to get this. I like VV too much to not, I think the MM will remain the defining piece. 'Can you say order of magnitude price hike for MM's? I knew you could!"

I really think it's too early to be making comparisons or writing this off, but i did remember we had a similar picture of Miracle's VV long ago: It'll be fun watching this all unravel as more is revealed anyway! Actually, it might be better for me if the rest of you don't like it; easier to get a preorder

What is Bandai smoking?
Just copy the MP design with die cast included. End of discussion, start production now!
If Bandai wanted that "retro" feel they should have gone with the Popy/Matchbox design.

I think it will turn out great! I trust Bandai and right now the only off thing about this Dairugger is the size of his forearms/fists so if that fixed I think the proportions would be good.

I know it's a protoype photo but with with these phototype photos, how often has Bandai made a radical change from them?
From what I have seen through the years with SOC, they usually stay the same.

Well... guess it us what it is then. ---------- On this screen I can't see previous comments and properly quote the person, but the one eho said that Bandai doesn't generally do significant mold changes between prototype and release was dead on. It'll pretty much be this thing in color.

I still think this is gonna be a beast when it releases. Believe it or not, the GX-71 went thru 3 or 4 remold processes before being final so I don't see this being any different if they're are things that need reworking.
The designer even said it himself.
Plus the original popy didn't have any diecast, so they probably will go into it like they did the gx-72(which the original dx also didn't have any diecast). This won't be better then the gx-71, SIMPLE, so if you have the idea that bandai will go all out on this gx-88 like it did for the gx-71 then yea you will be disappointed. The GX-71 had a history behind it from the original popy, which is one of the best selling figures from Bandai/Popy and also being one of the most requested SOCs to be made. Even then, I'm still confident bandai will make this a great SOC just like the ones before it.
Already I like how the arms are compared to the miracle version(didn't like the black bars on the side of the shoulders). Be patient guys, bandai won't f**k this up.

I don't care what this thing looks like - I'm buyin' it. I'll chalk the jilting proportions up to a lousy pic and poor pose. Many of us have waited a long time for this; Bandai won't mess it up.

I think what's throwing off a lot of the proportions on GX-88 is the head is too damn small. That focal point messes up the proportions on the rest of the body. That being said, those shoulder propellers better be removable. When will the first adult collectible Dairugger toy be without those?

same reaction we then revealed the GX71 lol i would say lets wait for the full reveal and the official page so we can get the full picture uh...not exactly like this haha my gripe with GX-71 was his short ab. and the extension somewhat saved it. other than that its super. I own the previous Toynami version and by comparison so i know Bandai hit the jackpot with GX-71 release. If i was guilty of degrading a Golion figure here in the past lol.... im sure it was the horibly proportioned Icarus version. remember popeye arms?

I remember people saying GX-71 looked fat and short. I for one look forward to more people not liking this to make it easier for me to preorder 😆

What a piece of crap! Everyone I talked to said they are not gonna have this piece of junk anywhere near their precious collection. The whole internet said they hated this thing. Even heard fans in whole Japan is boycotting this release! Heard it will even bring you bad luck. Don't even bother with the preorders, guys....(Wink Wink )

Dont know how my italian bros at Gokin.it reacting, but my go to Korean blog is not too thrilled with the robot mode.... EDIT: Gokin.it seems still discussing the amazing metal count on this beast. m.blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?blogId=yang456&logNo=221523138622&navType=tlThey are still holding onto faith in the Bandai magic. Hoping Bandai will chisel away till the final production model outclass Miracle's. And yes, The blogger is very impressed with the metal count though..

I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far - then again this is only a prototype, will reserve judgement once we see more pics of a near production model
