I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far - then again this is only a prototype, will reserve judgement once we see more pics of a near production model yes. looking forward to the final product. not saying its gonna be crap when it comes out hehe.. its not right. its just..we see it as it is. if it comes out very good. then we see it as it is too.

yes its
uh...not exactly like this haha my gripe with GX-71 was his short ab. and the extension somewhat saved it. other than that its super. I own the previous Toynami version and by comparison so i know Bandai hit the jackpot with GX-71 release. If i was guilty of degrading a Golion figure here in the past lol.... im sure it was the horibly proportioned Icarus version. remember popeye arms?
lol you and popeye arms
i remember it like yesterday, there were two teams
team 1, a group who had the KOB and thought Bandai will have to do alot to beat it, because the early units were a bit off, chubby, yellowish chrome, and not as sharp as the KOB
team 2 who didn't had the KOB but had Toynami, so they were abit optimistic about it, but they had some issues with the design here and there
oh good times
with this release we only got the MP to compare it with and i assure you they showed us and early sample ones it get couple of tweaks and a decent paint it will be clear who made the better VV

Another amazing and insightful conversation with S_Gokin. ----------- ANYWAYS, I'm looking forward to this. Between not having went in on the MP and personally feeling like Bandai won't let this be a total flop I'm excited at the thought of being impressed when it's in hand.

I think the next prototype that's fully painted would look lot better then this especially IF its posed "less awkward..."
The skinny upper limbs would look fuller painted in lighter shade and the thick lower limbs would look thinner in dark shade..
But little adjustment in sculpt would help tremendously IMHO. Bandai still has time.

I think they were using this pose as a bases for the pics of the combined form. Not to go off topic here, but boy is Dairugger XVs story depressing (specifically the ending, which is interesting considering Golion being Gorey and violent but with a happier/peaceful ending, with Dairugger of course not being Gorey and as violent, very Star Trek-ish).

ok follow the pose... not the shape/proportion. Anyway i prefer Dairugger plotwise.. i love space exploration.. finding planets.. its the theme of the future. Talk about depressing.. blowing a planet in one episode wherein the Galaxy alliance thought was the perfect planet for settlement.. thats depressing.

The SOC MUST continue cataloging within the "Computer Bar Cord System"! or all will be lost!

Yep follow that pose because he's been seen in that stance on alot of robot drawings, even the soundtrack art. I like your pov about Dairugger story though, and do agree that exploration is keys to the future(the ending just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth though but I do not want to spoil for anybody interested).

Saw the Hobby Japan magazine with these pics in person today. The face looks pretty good and seeing the amount of diecast content clearer... He's gonna be hefty!
I didnt notice until now, the text to the left seems to say he'll be 27cm, so the same size as a chest condensed lion Voltron, but a fair bit shorter than Miracle VV. Without knowing the actual scale i kinda liked VV being bigger than lions but I'm sure both SoC will look best together.
Having said that, I quickly got rid of my King of Beasts after getting SoC lions in hand, but i have a feeling ill be keeping Miracle VV alongside the SoC this time.

well the posts with the members similar reaction are still in the GX71 thread, feel free to check them out

they sky is the limit bro
joking aside i totally agree with you, also nice catch on the awkward pose, i knew there was a reason for them to pose it like that
thinking about it, Golion and Dairugger aren't related in Japan so to see them both have the same pose is abit weird for me, i think they were trying to pose it after the vintage toy ?

A little disappointing since VV is meant to be taller than LV [Albegas/Gladiator Voltron is meant to be the tallest of the three] I'll still get because its nice to finally be getting an official VV.

Some people definitely took issue with the perception of proportion but it was no where near the negative response of this which is a pretty universal "nope." But feel free to quote me and write something vapid again.

You know... I actually collect Mecha art books and still never noticed that. It's a great observation and absolutely correct.

actually the only vapid thing is your memory pal
either you didn't checked the thread it or forgot, on the very previous page of this page, there is a confirmation on what i said,
people didn't hate the GX71 or said they will never buy, they had couple issues with the over all design in a prototype same with this figure
but again feel free to believe whatever sail your boat
