So, yesterday, I had enough. Per what I read in this thread from others, I asked NY to cancel my prepaid preorder. The agent who took care of it, "Fiona", said a refund will be issued. But, so far, I see nothing in my CC. For those who got a refund from NY, how many days did it take? Seriously, these guys are pissing me off. Sigh. Here is what happen to me: Day 1 - Emailed them for Cancellation & Refund. Day 2 - Got apology reply and agreed to cancel my preorder. Order status changed in my account saying going through refund process. Day 3 - Refund issued, and received Paypal refund notification. So it is not instantaneous. Give it a couple days before you email them a reminder. But I wouldn't worry about them refusing your refund after they agreed upon it.

At least I still have 1 on-hand, via BBTS which I'll select to ship early next week.

If it is changed, then it shows at least they are working on it, even if the Paypal money doesn't come back right away.

But, checking both PayPal and my CC, no refund in either place. I made the request yesterday afternoon and so, that would be Friday in Japan, right? So, I guess I won't see anything until Monday...?

I think you are good, as the status got changed. If not, contact them again in a couple days.

A CC refund can take 3 business days to post to your account. PayPal is usually a little faster, but not sure when international.

So...I got a refund...but, in the form of a store credit (47500JPY). WTF.
They said the order was too old to refund it and yet, it sounds like those of you who got a refund got it straight to your CC. Even weirder is that I paid via PayPal and so, could they have not just sent me money in the form of 47500JPY...? I have asked the question but this stupidity continues.

Mannnnn you really should of just canceled thru PayPal. I posted a couple times don't cancel thru Nippon yason, cancel thru PayPal via dispute. That way you would get your money back in full but that's unfortunate.

If you don't have any other pending orders with NY, just go through Paypal. They may ban you but at least you get your money back rather than some store credit. I wonder how's their account with Paypal is doing. Paypal has this new sh*tty policy where they don't refund the seller fees anymore. This puts the seller in the negative which I'm assuming has affected NY given I've read people from different fora doing chargebacks/ filing claims recently. As a side note, what other ways can anybody recommend as far as receiving payment? I'd rather not deal with Paypal's new shady policy.

Yeah file a dispute with PayPal. So long as you are within the dispute period the merchant is supposed to refund. And what you have experienced has sure as sh*t made me swear to never do any business with NY. Lousy Customer Service gets around.

I actually got money refunded to my Paypal account by NY, pretty much refunded/reverted my purchase transaction. I was probably one of the earliest got that done, so not sure if the time frame really made the difference. I might have done it a week or more before your posts. Or maybe the influx of preorder cancelling got them to do things differently. But sucks regardless that there is more drama to it. Hope you get your money back without too much hassle.

File a complaint with PayPal. You have 6 months from purchase date. I had to file a complaint with PayPal against N.Y and I got my money back.

Update: So, TBH, unless I am dealing with some "other" PayPal, those of you who were able to get a refund through them must've been super lucky. So, per the agent I dealt with today (after waiting in the queue for like over 40 minutes) is that IF I were to contest this purchase AT the time of the toy's release versus NOW, I would've been able to get the 47K+ JPY contested. But, as it is already over their 180 days policy, PayPal is not able to step in. They instead, told me to call Visa and so, that's what I'm doing next -- their dispute team was closed when I tried today at 7PM local (they close by 8PM ET).
What a f*cking gongshow for this SoC. I swear, when I finally do get the Dairugger, it better solve hunger and provide world peace. I expect Syria to be solved.

It was mentioned either here or on another forum. I don't know the exact details unfortunately but some have used that to get their money back past the 180 day time frame. You have to point out that exact rule/policy though. I hope somebody can direct you to it as I have no knowledge where exactly to look for it.

Yeah, I pointed that out to the agent and she did verify what you're saying...However, per my update post above, I should've contested it back in the early part of November when the Dairugger was released instead of waiting until now. In other words, I should not have been patient with NY and just attempted the refund process then. Anyways, let's see where my case goes with Visa. The PayPal payment still did trigger a Visa charge as I went with a credit card instead of directly through my bank account...

N.Y. should have just refund the charge if it is smart which it clearly is not.
Now it looks to lose more accounts to due not only to it not able to meet the orders but badly handled subsequent cancelings....
