Just a thought here...
What if Godanner is weighted differently than is usual? It makes sense given that the hugest sword ever would likely put the figure off balance without the figure being really foot and leg heavy.

I'm guessing that from the pictures and the poses he's in he gonna be a pretty big figure and quite heavy maybe that's the reason for the high price.
I just noticed that Godannar has some clear plastic on the chest, nice detail.

At roughly $20-$30 more than Mazinger my guess is that the added price could be going towards the joint system, or maybe Max is thinking Godanner won't have the popularity to bring in the same quantity of sales (..which I highly doubt will be the case).
One thing to note is that GGGG's original retail price through Diamond was $199, but then prices actually came down due to what I always thought was popularity. I picked up my GGGG for $170 with shipping. Granted, I waited a few months after it's release, but popularity actually seemed to work in the buyer's favor in this case. Don't know if something like that would happen again though?

Ouch! It's going to be an expensive and penniless start for 2006! But gonna get it anyway. Goddannar looks far far far more impressive than MF's version of Mazinkaiser.

from hlj All the information we have about this superbly poseable die-cast action figure is making us delirious! Of course it's a fabulous robot in and of itself; and having it come from Max Factory just sweetens the deal. The model will measure 20.5cm, weigh 476 grams, and will have custom designed joints to enable it to take on any pose it struck in the anime! 5 spare sets of hands, one enormous sword (44 cm long!) clear parts for the head, and even a display base will be included. More information as we receive it!

I think Max Factory has just become the #2 in diecast figures behind Bandai but ahead of Aoshima. If Aoshima wants to get back in it they better start designing new figures besides Dai Shogun and re-paints.

If he's going to be able to poseable as that letter states, then he's definitely going to be part of my collection! Screw the price! Chen: Aoshima's lost very valuable ground. If they want to get back into their rightful place, then it's time they thought of doing Neo/Shin Getter 2 & 3, or the OAV version of Texas Mack, OAV version of Getter Dragon, Shin Dragon, etc.

44cm sword! godannit! if the cops see us with it we are going to jail! i think maybe godanner may have some sexual problems or insecurities in his subconscient in order to carry around a sword like that!

In his pictures it looks like he's packin a substantial unit. Maybe he's trying to give warning.

Man, MAX just knows how to make their bots look like bad a$$ mo-fos. Godanner just looks so freakin tough! Max pays attention to those details. Godanner's got a great head sculpt, and Mazinkaiser had a great head sculpt too.
Thanks Bizzio, love the killer pics.

Very nice elbow joints! No more Aoshima's "pull & bend", while keeping the great look. NICE!

I haven't seen the series in the awhile but what's the reason for the two different coloured flames (red and blue) behind his head?
