$536.00 (including shipping and handling) for GX-13R... now you see why I was bi***ing about this a while ago in comparison to the original GX-13... they're both the same, really. ;D ;D ;D And I thought US$300 charged to me by friend for GX-13R is already insane that said for me it's the Chogokin Expo 2004 Ltd Dancouga is the most expensive SOC to date

Superfarter, Why not GX-04S, but GX-04? Aren't you getting less for the same amount of money? Yeah, and because it cost around the same, I still haven't gotten a GX-04. Was hoping that there is a price differential. So i'll probably end up getting a GX-04B instead. There is somethiing about conventions that makes a person do dumb things. Spent 4-5 hours at a convention yesterday and found nothing that I wanted to buy. So I ended up paying 150 for a GX-03 Combattler V. You know, sometimes you just don't feel like going home empty handed, and the GX-03 is the only item I found that was on my List yesterday. It's not the most I've spend on a SOC but the most I have over paid for, considering I could have gotten this a couple of months ago for a little over 110$ shipped.

Majinga Z, That is expensive, I think I got GX-02 at Beaman's in Fremont for $105, which I thought I was raped and beaten when it happened. I picked him up in either 98 or 99. I already had the GX-01...so when I saw Great in that hobby shop...I got him on the spot. Impulse I guess. ;D

Guys, I'm kind of ashamed to say this.. I've been holding it inside for so long, but I think it's time for me to let it out and keep living without remorse.. The year was 2004, if I reacall correctly.. You know, I was innocent and I led a happy existence.. I didn't know much of life.. And then one day... one day I ran into this mean man from Japan at Ebay. He had this beautiful GX-04S.. I wanted it so bad... I didn't want to give in to temptation... But I did!, and knowing about my weakness for these figures, he took $300 USD from me, and not happy with that, he made give him like $80 or more for express shipping to Ecuador.. (I can't remember well, because everything happened so fast..). But the nightmare didn't stop there. As if life wasn't tough with me already, when I thought that I was finally safe, another monster called Government took advantage of me and made me give him like $20 more in tax duties... But all this suffering had a reward, when I saw my Grendizer's face.. It was like being born again... Since that day, I promised myself not to fall in temptation again, and never ever buy an overpriced toy again.. And I lived by that decision... until I saw GX-09 in an auction and paid for it $150 + $40 shipping!! I guess I will never learn.. ;D There you are, I finally let it out.. Now, all I need is a hug...

oh, AntuKin, that's a double-whammy!
That GX-04s hurts, but that GX-09 cuts right to the bone!
I'd send you a hug via EMS, but I'm afraid the Ecuadoran Taxes may be too high!

I'll pipe up here. I only have 14... wait, I have 14 SOCs now... OMG! I was so against these things when I first saw them. You guys have tainted my soul! ;D Back on track. My most expensive SOC so far is the GX04s. I paid 180.00 for that puppy. I am still passing on the Voltes madness as it is now up to 200+ when I see it. Nope, not going there when I could put a nice minty piece of vintage robot history on the shelf for the same or less. Always have patience and you will be rewarded. This has worked for us vintage guys for many years. Bandai will reissue the Voltes and then I will have it for 125.00. Still too high if you ask me, but to each his own. So wait your telling me that GX-31 Voltes V which just got released last year is already appreciating? Must be all the Filipinos buying up the V5 ;D Here's to hoping they'd come out with a black version of the greatest robot ever Mabuhay

oh, AntuKin, that's a double-whammy! That GX-04s hurts, but that GX-09 cuts right to the bone! I'd send you a hug via EMS, but I'm afraid the Ecuadoran Taxes may be too high! Thanks captain.. I appreciate it. But seriously though, customs and taxes are a real pain in the behind! That time of the GX-04S I really was really lucky because I found a nice guy at the customs. I didn't bribe him or anything (as you may expect from a beautiful but generally corrupt country like mine). He was just nice and helped me for nothing, so I ended up paying just $20 for taxes.. But now, rules are getting tougher, or at least, they are enforcing them more. As a rule of thumb, if I buy a toy for $100 + $40 shipping, I end up paying around 50% ($70 more) in taxes!! However, the tax only applies for packages over 2Kg and/or $200 declared value. But with time and experience, I have learned to play by the rules, or to sneak around them... So now I either have to kindly convince my seller to declare the toy for a lower value(which almost never happens..), or just settle down for the smaller SOCs and buy them one at a time. That explains why I only have to settle mostly with the Mazingers and EVAs. Now I see the Dancougar reissue, and my hands itch so bad to place an order, but that would potentially kill my wallet; plus, I'm still recovering from Masterpiece Convoy MP-04 (no regrets, but bad mistake..!), and I'm powering up for Masterpiece Megatron and my long desired GX-06 reissue!! Speaking of GX-06, I had the compulsion to buy that overpriced sucker so many times, first for $180, then $200, then $250.. But now I'm so glad I waited (too long!), and it finally paid off!! Woohoo!! ;D I guess we all newbie collectors have paid too much for a certain figure, but the longer I have observed, researched and read your posts, the more I have learned about this hobby. And trust me... The best tactic is TO BE PATIENT!! Reissues of your favorite figure will arrive sooner or later. I envy most of you guys (a good envy, though).. Life for a collector is difficult around here. For all the reasons I explained above, I almost end up paying too much for my figures. But I have no choice. Buying a Mazinger for retail here at $150 is worse, so I stick to internet ordering because it still saves me money.. For the price of my collection I should have almost twice as much figures, but that's the beauty of this hobby. This makes me care for my figures even more, and I feel happy everytime I can add another piece. Sorry for writing so long, but I wanted to share my experience with you guys! ;D

Are you in the U.K. Antukin because the Royal mail is incredibly expensive,I learned the hard way after buying some Thunderbirds stuff at great prices and the shipping was double the price of the items and it was right on the lading sticker + the Pound to Dollar exchange is 2 to 1.

Buying SOC's in my area is a "rip-off" waiting to happen, so I generally get them online and still save even with the shipping.
Does the Soul of Popynica Yamato count? I paid $189 for that one and it ended up being $210 with shipping.
Since my SOC collection is still in its infancy (I only have 4 so far,) the most I ever paid for was $89 for Leopaldan, but I think my next purchase will be Dancougar so that will easily top that. XD

LurkerX before the reissues, I remember Minerva X going for an average of $150 and upwards to $250 on eBay. Toy Karma hit me for her, a buddy who owns a local store got some old stock and sold it to me for $40 (cash) LOL.

yes. Minerva x was the worst over priced regular soc ever. i remeber paying like $60 for mind and it was like 1 year or 2 after it came out. i had 2 of them and was able to sell one for like $90 a few years ago. i feel sorry for those ppl that pay anything over $150 for Minerva x. LurkerX before the reissues, I remember Minerva X going for an average of $150 and upwards to $250 on eBay.
