I started my collection with the Mazingers. Then I bought up the Getters. I had to have Grendizer so I got one off ebay for $250. Then what do you know, the GX-04S gets re-issued for even less than my Grendie. That was a sad day. But now I know that if I miss something it will get re-issued for less. Patience.

00silvergt.............you mentioned "Superfarter, Why not GX-04S, but GX-04? Aren't you getting less for the same amount of money?" I am one of those who buy the GX-04 more than the GX-04S...even though business wise......it is true the GX-04S sells faster for $200 and it is good for the money that we will spend on one toy but the GX-04 is collectable...and I really doubt it if Bandai will reissue that one!!!!!!!!! but again, who knows!!!!!!!!.......they have been reissuing the toys more than I change my own underwear. "just kidding" ;D

Guys, Gxo4s saw at 500usd in a store in Paris!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the worst place to buy a Soc is Paris, France!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Mon Ami, MY MOST EXPENSIVE PURCHASE WAS EXACTLY A GRENDIZER GX04S IN PARIS!!!! ;D Luckily I paid only Euro 320 wich was roughly 384 usd at the time... I was living in Fontainebleau, taking my MBA course and I already had a nice collection with about 13 or so SOCs, but Grendizer had always elluded me. I had never seen one in person, and a certain saturday I went to the movies with my wife on Champs Elysees in Paris and we (as always) went to check for new stuff at the FNAC store. Thre he was, waiting for me... Even though right next to him there was an Aoshima Weathering Arcadia for 200 Euros (For which I had paid US$ 80 two years before) telling me that prices there were really jacked up I could not resist the urge and bought him anyway. The funny thing is that for 1 year only he reigned as my Chogo-King as i bought Voltes V, my current favourite piece... To tell you the truth though, I still do not regret it, and a few months later I saw him for US$ 500 at the very same store.

So, it seems the pattern is GX-04,04s, and 10B seem to be the most frequently inflated.

I just paid someone on ebay 180 for a GX-04. This edges out the Final Fantasy VII Cloud on Hardy Daytona resin statue as the most I've ever spent on anything in my collection. Come to think of it, I could of gotten the GX-04S a year ago, around this time from BBTS.com for around 180 without shipping. But I can't ever find a GX-04S for less than 200 + shipping, anywhere now. 185 at last years Wondercon was the cheapest I've ever seen it. Then again, I also saw the Max Factory Mazinkaiser at last years Wondercon for 185. I saw a Max Factory Mazinkaiser at this years Wondercon but the price now is 285. If I could only time travel.

think that I paid 98 US$ for the mazinkaiser MF from the US (+ shipping and custom fee of course). That was a total of about 140$ or less...it was when it came out.

Heh heh heh - I'm browsing this thread and feeling "not so pissed off" because I also fell into the blackhole between when Grendizer became rare and before he got reissued. I think it was 2002/2003 (roughly) when I spent around $400 (give or take) for both GX-04 and GX-04X. It was on eBay... and it was a fair price back then.
The most expensive SINGLE-item I ever got in my collection is a life-sized Faiz-Gear henshin belt. Which clocked in about $300-something Canadian. And since it was EMS across the border, it cost me time (and gas) to pick it up at a depot across town (because I couldn't sign for it - it was delivered to my apartment and I live alone) and I was dinged by Global Logistics who charged me a brokerage fee...
I don't know how everybody else deals with it, but I hate dealing with shipping from HLJ. Is it just me?

I don't mind HLJ's shipping, actually, it has been of great service to me. Everything is always packed right and always arrive 4 days after the shipping notice has been emailed to me.
Ben, post pics of the Henshin Belt in teh Super Sentai Forum, would love to see it. I have the kid-sized one and my kid has a HK bootleg in which the cell phone actually turns into a gun unlike the Bandai one that doesn't.

Before the thread gets too far off topic, I'll answer some questions briefly: No, the adult-sized one does not come in a case nor was there one available. When I cosplayed Takumi at Halloween that year, I used a steal-tool box however - it sort of looks like the Smart Brain case. The phone does turn into a gun and almost identical to the kid version. But it's a bit bigger, I think - the "mission memory" chip is not interchangeable. It came as a set - with the "camera" for Rider-Punch and "pointer" for Rider-Kick... all in scale.
I'm actually waiting for a new digital camera to arrive that I mail-ordered this week... so I'll be posting photos of my collection more often than I have in the last few months.

Reading th eposts...it seems the title of the thread should have been...what toy you think you over paid with LOL!!
Back in 1999 ebay was still new and the v5 DX's were really rare at that time and were expensive...I bought the DX Voltes V from a guy in a yahoogroup that I belonged to...he was from Chicago...I flew there to meet him personally.. for $300 but the head/cruiser 1 was broken..(the V5 DX was in a shoebox).so I had to fly to San Jose to some toy store there I forgot what name it was (Heroe's club?) take the taxi from the airport to the store and back... to buy the crusier for $100... plus $50 taxi... now that was a hassle more than the price....
1 or 2 years later I was able to buy another V5 DX (waaay before there was even a glimmer of hope that an SOC V5 will be made).... it was compleate with about a c-8 box...for $500 or $600...but in better condition
But the bottom line is every toy I bought I think i worth every penny only because they gave me nostalgia and a sense of happiness LOL!! you know right brain emotions versus left brain logic always fight inside my head hehehehe
