This thread has brought great information for me! Not only now I know that the GSC Tachicoma with the Motoko figure is GIJOE compatible, but also I have found out that finally we will see two cool designs from Mazinger AD 1901 in DIECAST!
My wallet wil be hurt though, and my wife is gonna kill me!!!!!

Whoa-wasit? Here are pics of the Boss and Doublas Ex Gokins courtesy of cjtoys. www.figures.com/databases/action.cgi?setup_file=cjtnews2.setup&category=cooljt&topic=16&show_article=4It says Mazinger 1969 has not gotten the green light yet so these will be under the 1901 name. It's kinda funny these guys get the Gokin treatment and 1901 Mazinger does not. I'm kinda doubting these will sell well enough to get the Mazinger 1969 stuff on the production track. Can you see paying $200.00 plus for these? Thoughts? I'm kinda worried about the future of this line now.

Well, I think that they are unique enough to warrant the purchase of at least one of them. It would help if they are released in a month where no SOC is released...

I'm curious about it as well. The 1901 line had been discontinued, and Now they come up with these new gokins- but no official release dates as of This post... not even Pics. The question is, would fans catch on to the new 1969s? The 1901s hadn't made so much buzz, to My inferior knowledge at the very least... but then, how popular were the 1901s, compared to the modern SOCs? Now that I've come to read This thread today, Thus far, this whole new Fewture news looks scary. zozo-Magengar Whoa-wasit? At the time it was released the 1901 line didn't seem to get much press and therefore not much buzz either, so most collectors didn't even know about it until it was all over. I also think the 1901 line took some time for collectors to adjust to its new twists.
With Boss Borot and Doublas I think it would be a good idea for Fewture to modify the designs a bit so that they are more in line with the EX Gokin style, which has proven popularity.
The 1901 line was doing something that really hadn't been done before with its retro take that roughly represented the Frankenstein era and the dawn of the industrial age. A 1969 take could have some equally innovative results to represent the look of that era. Just guessing it could incorporate anything from vaccuum tubes to most likely something in the vein of the original Star Trek. I'm entrigued by the whole idea.
But I do have to agree that I think it would be in Fewture's best interest to modify the old designs unless they plan on keeping these plastic, in which case they would probably be cheap enough that collectors would buy them even if they aren't as cool as the EX Gokin stuff.

I have the 1901 Mazinger. It's a beautiful sculpt, with lots of really cool details like individually movable fingers and an intricate, openable cockpit w/mini (kinda S&M-looking) Kabuto figure to put in it... unfortunately, it was all plastic, and the QC was not very good at all. I'd really like to see them re-release it (along with Aflodai and Garada, perhaps?) as actual die-cast figures, this time without all the soft, easily broken plastic joints...

I have to say I am really excited about this! I don't know if I am willing to shell out the serious amount of money needed to get them all (need more pictures and details about the figures first) but I am 99.99% sure that I must have the mazinger. especially if its based on the original 1901 design. the QC for the original (I also have one) is really low as we all agreed, but with the EX treatment.... OMFG!
...bizzio darling?! I crave for more pictures, pleeeeeeeeeze ;D

Ok, Doublas has certainly got my attention. I like the somewhat off the wall look, almost looks like what an updated version of the Ark's might look like.
I never paid to much attention to the Fewture Getters, nice to look at but I was never seriously considering getting them. How much did the Getters retail at? (just to give me an idea)

I think Fewture would be smart to go with the 1969 Mazinger concepts for the next Gokins instead using designs from old lines. If I'm not mistaken the Mazinger 1969 designs where some of the last designs by Prof. Sato. I would to see some drawings. Fewture should post the concepts and see what people think.

release date: May 2007 (Planned), 17800 yen... I don't find any preorders in the online shops i know... That's strange for a release in May (i mean the Tachikoma with poseable Motoko. Not the Tachikoma alone which seems to be on HLJ)

i love the fewture getters! i got all of them and for my surprise i ended up liking the last 2 getters more than getter 1. but this doublas and boss i hate them! they seem like spawn stuff from mcfarlane "the f*g".
i am curious nevertheless about the 69 approach! even knowing the mazinger design is from the early 70s.

I gotta agree with you on all this. I actually like my Getter 2 better than my Ryoma. The Ryoma looks great, but the Getter 2 has so many innovative qualities to the design and its much more fun to handle and mess around with. The quality of the design, the joints, the accessories and the materials make it an almost perfect gokin. I was surprised by how much I ended up liking the Getter 2 because I didn't think the Ryoma could be topped. I also have to agree with you that the Doublas and Boss Borot figures are McFarlane-esque. I still like them, but nothing near as much as I like the Getter designs.

Oh man, now I Know I'm gonna hate that Boss figure...
...just look at them two pilots inside him!
That scene looks like "Wayne's World inside a Beer Brewer"...
..."Bill and Ted, and their Giant Mechanical Bong- Their Next Adventure: Hijack The Mall". ;D

...and bizzio provides... mille grazie! you are quick as usual but I am still biased about them... zozo, you are right about the looks... I mean yes, great sculpts and such but this looks more like the carnival in Rio to me. I just hope the mazinger designs will have a clearer impact on me.
