What are we looking at exactly? Use your imagination...

... you can find a lot of possibilities to create new design... Some exemples : ( left view of an alternate version... ) What are we looking at exactly? On the second one, it kind of look like an Einhander ship, from that Squaresoft shooter. Einhander being the title of the game and the name of the "one-handed" ship.

This is the kind of response I like. Einhänder, one of my best shooter title ! You are right Krimpov, it looks like... I imaginated it like a bomber ship or a career ship which drop a huge canon on orbital position... You see Megatroptimus, it's heasy ! Maybe we need to create a new topic : "the alternate way of transforming toys"

Aquarion is an intresting mecha - is there a cheaper fig that looks kind of cool, maybe a non combining one? I love the idea of combiners but can never justify the cost(plus fully moulded figs tend to be more solid). I'm interested in Aquarion as I like a lot of Kawamori's non macross ideas(nothing wrong with Macross either).

I got my GD-99 in the mail a few days ago, but I've been sidetracked by other things. It's the new one and it's pretty much the same as the old release. Same balance problems....HOWEVER: Top view: It's fairly easy to make him stand with the wings open. This is a little trickier: ;D You have to Rubick'sCube the backpack so it looks like this: (This is actually MORE anime-accurate than the instructions.) You can then fold the white tabs over the top part to give that area some visual continuity: The key to all this is to make sure he's standing on a surface with traction. His heels have to dig in. If you have a glass case put a piece of paper under it. Pay VERY close attention to the knee and ankle positions. Having said the above....I don't recommend leaving it without a stand for too long. Mine felt pretty solid but then Mr. Gravity is a sneaky ba$t*rd that likes to take his sweet time with things. I want to eventually make a custom stand that doesn't take up too much of the view like the one provided. So what exactly is GD-99? A diecast brick? An "action" figure? Not really. It's all of this: An intellectual puzzle A mechanical conversation piece A patience tester Finally....it's a brilliant work of art. I can't stress the last one enough. My pictures don't do it justice. It's got MAJOR shelf presence and charisma. About 14 inches of it (Solar mode-wings extended). I haven't done the other modes yet, but I'll probably do them this week.

Like I said... it is an AWESOME figure - just quite complicated for the average folks.

How is the waist connection in Solar mode? Does it stay connected even when you fiddle with it? I noticed on the old one that the waist and legs disconnected really easy in Solar mode.

How is the waist connection in Solar mode? Does it stay connected even when you fiddle with it? I noticed on the old one that the waist and legs disconnected really easy in Solar mode. Wow. I had no idea it had that problem. Mine is actually pretty solid. It doesn't feel like it's gonna disconnect at all. I actually had to move some stuff around to disconnect it ( I wanted to get a solid grip without pressing on too many parts ). So that might actually be an improvement on the new one? The Luna backpack is kind of hard to take off, though. Had to concentrate really hard for that one. ;D ( But Ideon still takes the cake for the hardest mode change---contracting the legs is insanely hard. ) BTW: To transform the Luna backpack it's easier if you pop it's "head" off. You can stick it back on later (if you transform it like I did) or you can just leave it off, use it as a hat...ect...

It's H-E-A-V-Y : diecast, diecast, diecast ! You really won't have any regrets with this toy. I have the Dancouga (and the repaint version too) : it's also a very good toy, but Aquarion is the best toy to enjoy the art of transformation or combining toys... ... my preference goes to the full blast version.

Aquarion must be the toy with the most diverging opinions

So anyone with the definitive on what's changed? If it is major, I'd be livid since I have the first edition.

I don't think it's major, and if there is any difference, it must be inside the robot for better stability or something like that.

Sorry, I don't know. I don't own the figure, unfortunately. I just thought I'd peruse some of the sites I know for pictures and try to be helpful .

Hello Guys, I was playing with my Aquarion last week and one of the piece fell. I have no idea where this came from. Do you guys know where to put this back? That piece connects to Vector Sol (the one that becomes the upper body in Solar Mode). It connects right between the metal prongs. I think they made it loose so it wouldn't get all distorted from being torn off....
