Hi folks
Bandai is reissuing the GD-99. HLJ has in on pre-order for 198000Y, expected in March.
Any clue on the release date, is it a good choice?
I was browsing eBay for it and had no luck, all the pieces there were too expensive.
Any review of it somewhere?
I'm starting on the anime and so far it looks promising.

I heard it cannot stand on its own.
My advice, wait for reviews on the reissue to see whether it has been fixed.

It's probably meant to coincide with the R1 release of the show.
But I'm confused---wasn't there supposed to be a GD-99 "R" version coming out? Is the HLJ preorder for that or is it just the old version?

It's a second release of the old version. R means revisited in the SOC line, when there is something changing from the original.

A friend of mine in Europa tell me the same thing. It's fine as long as you use the stand for it. But since they dive us the stand, it's meant to be used.

You can manage a couple of poses with certain configs sans the stand but they are wobbbly. The combos and weapons poses need the stand.Good center piece in full combination for an SOC.collection.

Why did Bandai make this a GD vs a GX Sould of Chogokin. I see this more of a GX than the lighter dude, spiderman thing and king joe one (they should have been called GWTF .

Image taken from eBay Aquarion is stated as Renewal, so I' pretty sure it's different version (I mean they must have adressed some issue from the original) Box is different too!

Interesting... I might buy it again then (sold the one I had). But to be honest, it's far from being the marvel of engineering people claim it to be, it's just a bunch of joints and half-assed alternate modes. Still cool, but there are better mechas out there.

There's always a better robot out there......
But I think it's fairly different then the others. Aquarion is pretty unique, it's not like God Marz and Dancougar (they use the same buid-up technique).
Well it's a bit more like the Getter, 3 vessel that can make a robot, but the pilot inside has an impact of what the robot can do.
I may get one, not 100% yet.

I think it's pretty impressive. Yeah the stability sucks, but three robots and 3 ships that all look different and cool, made from the same exact pieces with no leftovers.. If this isn't an engineering marvel of robot figures then what is? I can see how it might not appeal to some people because of it's organic look. It's not your standard transforming box-ish robot look.

In the 3 formations, there's always one that turns pretty much into a useless backpack... The way they were designed (basically 2 limbs with tons of joints to position them as you want), it's easy to turn them into a robot-like form. RID Railracer achieves pretty much the same thing with a similar level of complexity, but cleaner look and more poseability/stability.

Railracer? Hmm, well he separates into three super simple trains that are almost exactly alike, and his posability is terrible. Railracer isn't even close to the same thing in my book. Actually I could really go on about this, but I'll spare everyone..
The Aquarion "backpacks" are one of his coolest looking features, btw.

Actually I could really go on about this, but I'll spare everyone.. The Aquarion "backpacks" are one of his coolest looking features, btw. The 3 trains look similar in train mode but transform completely differently. And the poseability is NOT terrible, what are you saying here? Railracer is far more poseable than any of the 3 Aquarion combinations. Do you even own the toy? I had the Aquarion and and I still have Railracer. Plus, you don't need a stand with Railracer. About the backpack... you'd tell that to TF collectors and they would b*tch about it being useless kibble... which is what it is.

Whether you need a stand with Railracer is debatable. Ok, but look, Railracer is fine. Maybe a little boring, but whatever. I just don't see your comparison of these two as having any accuracy. These two figures are what?..basically the same thing? Ok.. So the backpacks are kibble.. I guess wings, or jetpacks are kibble too? Personally I like things that make a figure look more powerful and cool.

What I want to know is if the new Aquarion has been corrected from it's flaw, or if it's imply a new box.
