Like it, cool and thanks for sharing. BUT....someone needs to fill in the old Dragun back and the repaint it. Such a great custom deserves a bit of final finish.

Yeah, they did bootlegs of the blue shoulder. I have it along with the gray trainer.....
The blue is based on a Popy variation. A cool one to be sure....
I would just like a definitive way to tell the bootlegs from the real deal. I imagine the box is the tipoff, but we just don't get great pictures on ebay. -snif. It would be nice if there was a toy tip-off too.

If they ship to you and are good sellers (low feedback).....Sure! Good for you.
The Godsigma seems to be the best score. There is allot of toy to work with for that price.

-I'll bump this and see again.... I was referring to a recent Popy GR1 on ebay and was wondering if it was a reproduction.

The customs guys have cats...I think that Customs Cars are Key. -snicker- murph-.
I'm trying to figure out how to/if to mod this. -sigh-. I'm going to suggest keeping the coversations beyond this off line. Much of this doesn't seem clear cut.
Maybe we should collect mailed out postcards....

The red jet just pulls out. The clip is like a C shape when you look at the top. You may want to work one side first, like the pry the plane away from an arm. For those tabs, I seem to remember the yellow tab working side ways. It unlatches if memory serves.....but someone else may know. My toy is in storage now

-anyone notice a blue shoulder Popy Getter 1 selling on ebay? Was it real or a repro?
I held my repro and couldn't see any difference in the toy or box, but possibly a small difference.
The seller couldn't produce a photo of the sponge or catalogs (if they were there) for me. So I choose to no-bid.
.....makes me wonder.

I'll message you and would love to scan in/add it to the RJ encyclopedia.
Alternatively, if there are pictures we all would enjoy that too. -geez, what a weird story.

Thanks Ed. I'm glad to inject some new info into the discussion. I was very surprised to see the color difference. Have you ever seen anything like the info about the decal for the eyes? That one really threw me for a loop as it seems like a simple removel of the decal could falsely ID other copies. No, I've never seen the decal difference or noticed it as a decal vs molded yellow. IMHO I would say the BOX is what collectors value about the Japanese SG-01. The toys are so very close to each other in details. So I wouldn't expect a toy to be faked as Japanese....but you never know :/

Thanks for the blue plastic info. I'll have to revise my tetsujin version write-up!. I think there were different blue dye vat versions, but there is absolutely a fading of the blue! Ed

Metal Joe is spot on. This large version is plastic and a brother to the RoboMan and other Takara motorized combiners.
BTW, all diecast Gakeens kick arse.
