you could also try in photoshop -image - adjust levels-. and fool around with the slider. It doesn't do miracles.. but it can help limit some of the problems.

Its funny, but I treat all of my "toys" in the same manner. For example, I have the $75 SOC Mazinger Z, and I also have the $13 Bandai Mecha Collection Mazinger Z model (action figure once it is put together). Well, I treat them the same way, regardless of the price difference. I don't "play" with them in a sandbox, but I do have my "kid days" from time to time. That's were most of the "action pictures" I post come from... }D I'm very envious of your freedom to do that! If I could afford it, I would buy 2 of each of my collection and really have a good time twiddling around with it alot on a daily basis. It's that part of me that I like to keep things looking new as possible. Comics, toys etc. Not that I don't take them out and mess around with it. But I feel I have to be fairly gently with it.

Kidchuckle, I am willing to bet that if you handed over, let's say, a Mint SOC Dancouga to a 9 year old kid, he would most definitely be more than willing to play with it in the dirt and would not mind to bang it up either. Everything is in the eye of the beholder. but thats the competition. I'm talking about the value of what it is to what you pay for. when you were young. A toy you got was a decent price for what it was at the time. The play value was there for the cost that was payed. A SOC is a collectors item. the value of it is way higher then you would buy a normal toy. It's no longer something you would let your kid play in the sandbox. Yes a toy is a toy to a kid. But if you put a price tag on something... its kind of harder to attach that playability in your mind. just like a vintage toy today. If you were a kid that vintage toy would be totally abused. If you bought a vintage toy and payed for it "market value" you're no longer going to play with it in the sand box. its really hard to compete with that playability from the past to present. if you associate value to something. Thats where the magic may disapear for some of the new SOC. Value or price is now in your mind as oppose to when you were a kid, you never attach a price on to a toy. Just the fun factor. And thats hard to compete with.

well I guess it contributes down to the fun and playability of the old. They were somewhat affordable (rather then the stuff we pay for now.. which are Collectors price for a toy and not the cost you would pay for a kids toy). The old stuff had fun gimmicks, sometimes even the gimmicks were more important then the over all look. some of the gimmicks didn't have some of the stuff they had in the show. these were the types you didn't mine playing in dirt.. bang them up against each other. But I think the price point and geared to authentic anime accuracey... makes it harder to enjoy toys.. if you feel like you have to be very careful how you handle it.
I think thats where some of the magic from the new stuff disapears.

this was going back 3 or 4 yrs ago. But I met a friend of a friend who lived in Japan teaching English. Her bf was Japanese and She is Canadian(both were in their early 20's) . So of course the disccussion came into anime. And it was my turn I spoke of Getter Robo, Mazinger, Grendizer, etc... and his reaction was "yes I know, so old" (with a very distinterest in his voice). I couldn't help and wonder was all of Japan's youth so disinterested in the "classic" anime?
I don't know if this is the same from anywhere else outside of Canada. But giant robot shows, were very few (I think just Force Five, and Harlock and Voltron.. were pretty popular for a while). But once off the air. They had a legendary status to a lot of people. I often wonder what a new generation of kids would look at these shows to see how their excitement compares to modern shows.
sorry for the rambling. I just got off work at 2:30 am and suffering from insominia.

sorry I didn't see this post until today. But I've seen it in stores. And it does look somewhat brittle. I wish they had used a denser material. But thats basically the same material studio uses for all their products. Yes its awfully small. Mind you I've seen this only in package and never handeled it. But yes its very tiny. YOu may feel disapointed because of the weight and the size for the price.
but good luck. If I had money that I could throw around. I would get it myself it looks like a lot of fun. The new version has some cool articulation!

hmm if you can't find a stabilizer. I believe After Effects by adobe.. has a filter or something to stabilize film. (i remember they had just got that feature when I finished school.. way back 7 yrs ago)

Hmm well thats a bit harder for me to say. At the time I paid $90 with tax and everthing for Panda Z. But the Canadian dollar's value is on par with the american right now. (that was 4 years ago and I can't remember how much the cunnuck dollar was worth back then). but I see at HBJ it's about $54.22 What a steal!!!!! thats so worth it. If anyone hasn't gotten a Panda Z Chogokin I say it's well worth it. www.hlj.com/product/MEG80349JOsh did a review of it. You can find it here www.collectiondx.com/node/508

wow those are awesome! I've never seen it before! wait Megahouse is the same company that does Panda Z. a offshoot company of Bandai I believe.
I have both Panda Z in diecast and vinyl! very awesome in fact! The Diecast is worthy to be considered SOC!
