damn dude, I cant wait!.. mine is on the way now. They told me that due to the new way they are hiding the joints, they are made in a totally different way then they were on the Grendy.. its not the same joint at all so, I guess they are gonna feel different. Youre saying its a softer "click"? They told me the range of movement was basically the same but looked a lot better.

What they are trying to do now is to HIDE the articulation..but like I said before, its going to depend on the character, we may get more in the future, just depends on how they want the thing to look. The way they drew 70s characters was impossible.. they are trying to strike a balance between the way they were drawn and decent articulation. So far, based on photos and what Baron said about it, I think they achieved what they wanted to do. They wanted to "blend him in" and keep him looking solid like hes all one piece but still have good articulation... Looking at Z Mazinger, Id say they may get a little more articulation out of that sculpt but we shall see..

I got a feeling that its going to be a better figure than MT01 Chrome and I was pretty happy with that one.. and its a production enemy robot, that's always a bonus. Baron said the paint apps looked fantastic so Im sure we wont be disappointed.

That's fair. I didn't go through the review really, like I said just glanced at the pics so far. Ultimately tho, for a good pieces over $100, I would have expected some more accessories, even tho I don't know what those would be lol. Really I just wish this was more like grendizer and cost $60. I don't understand why it's so much more expensive. Except I guess they don't except to sell as many as grendizer and need to charge more to make it worth producing. Hlpro stuff isn't brought into the US in as large numbers as Bandai stuff.. the prices are higher here in the US. The Middle East buys most of it.. and in very large quantities, the US makes only 1 or 2 percent of the total sales volume.. so bc they buy it in larger batches they can sell them cheaper. The main difference is that in the Middle East, most of it sells retail in comic shops and hobby stores over there.. they tend not to do as much online sales over there. Bandai SOC and SRC is the same way too, you can walk into a Japanese toy store and buy that stuff for half the cost we pay.

Buster, I don't know what youre talking about.. PBM is shipping them right now.As, for sale volume, HLpro sold everyone of them that they made already the dealers are the one that are selling them now. as for accessories he comes with two sets of hands, a die cast TFO and all the parts to transform him into the flying saucer(transform may not be the right term for it, lets say "Make") and a stand that can display that flying saucer in two different modes. They may make weapon effects for him later on and give them as bonus Items in future releases.. no telling

I think they screwed up on the Head Sculpt when it comes to the eyes and horns of Gin Gin (I'll show a comparison pic once I get it in hand), but hey I'll take any Grendizer's enemy they produce. It's not like other companies are doing anything with Robot's villains, and that's why I'm kinda disappointed with the next few MTs which means we may see new villains in 2022 They are busy making three more of them as we speak! yes, he just billed me.. they are on the way. Based on what HLpro is saying and the mood over there, enemies wont stop coming. Ive got the feeling they want to expand the line with some more heroes first... that will open up the possibilities for enemies from other series' .. they are also working on some other stuff ... I went back and looked at episode 7, Gin Gin's eyes and horns are different every time they show him just depending on his expression.. in the beginning of the episode looks like a totally different face, his eyes are big and kind of round, at the end when hes fighting Grendizer his eyes narrow down to slits almost.. they gave him an "expression" when they drew him.

Buser PBM is supposed to start shipping this week..
Dammage 7. don't expect anything more for MT01V1, "that's a wrap" on that. V2 is a total "re-boot"
MazingerZ Hlpro cannot go the hyper articulation route and keep the 70's style sculpt. If they did so, they would look like SRCs.. that type of articulation tends to force you to alter things away from the original drawings like what happened to SRC Grendizer, he looks that way because he was built on standardized SRC joints. Now, if HLpro decides to make a very modern character, then yes MAYBE the they may allow for hyper articulation but from what I was told, they want to let Bandai have that feature while Hlpro keeps "70s style charm" in the sculpts to keep them more "Go Nagai" looking. That being said, Gin Gin has a superior sculpt compared to MT01 AND has the same level of articulation. What holds Gin Gin back is his Shields, it would be hard to do much with big shields built into your forearms but that's the way he was drawn and any figure that could be made of this character is going to encounter the same problem.

shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.688859/it.A/id.271/.fPBM starts shipping Monday and from what Ive heard some of the other stores are either sold out or they are gonna wait unitl PBM starts shipping. I am sure the color is what they wanted and there was a logic behind it. If you don't like that color I am sure they will do another special color variant. probably a "Manga" version. They aren't going to let those molds go to waste, none of the companies do. This is only the second humanoid figure in the line.. they did a really good job from what Im seeing. Another good thing I was told is that HLpro doesn't like the results that some other companies get when they use "standardized" articulation parts..they said each figure should be made of totally purpose built components to keep the sculpt as good as possible. What that means is that articulation is going to depend a lot on the character and the sculpt. So, there is always a chance that some of the future characters will be able to have even more articulation. So, articulation is going to depend on how the character was drawn.. they want to stay real close to the drawings..

Yeah this is just the "prototype" of the next phase in Metaltech.. ZMazinger is going to involve even more detail. More "complication" without being too "busy".

HLpro is super pleased with the reaction to this figure and was pleased with Baron's review. He went out and had a celebration last night with his friends and some tequila. Hes basically telling me "If hey like that one, wait until they see what is coming" (paraphrased). He is also talking about how he is going to address Grendizer in the "V2".
Its now possible for me to talk about the articulation on this new one. Hlpro is real proud of that seamless system on the upper thigh and the shoulders. It allows for enough movement to have a figure but at the same times makes him look "solid"... Gin Gin is the prototype for this kind of articulation and there are going to be more like this. They have also engineered a new way to make a shoulder and it looks better than a normal shoulder but I cant remember if this was used on Gin Gin or if it was something coming out on Zmazinger or Gattiger.
HLpro is in a situation where it has to be innovative but cannot "copy" other brands. To copy is to lose your brand identity. HLpro chose to go the "traditional" route and used Popy as its main spiritual influence. To do this, you have to keep that "70s Charm" on one hand but the figures have to have modern articulation and the two ideas don't mix that easily. So, they are trying to strike a balance between sculpt and articulation.. what that means is that MT figures are never going to be able to do things like "Kneel" or do super dynamic stuff like a SRC can do BUT they WILL pose and look real good in your display.. and you CAN play with them like an old Popy and get a lot more articulation out of a MT than you can a classic Popy. Everything is a trade-off. I cant wait till I get my hands on my Gin Gin..its looking real good from the photos and Baron's review, Im pretty sure Im gonna love it. I also love the direction Hlpro is going... the characters that are coming are "must-haves"
Baron, make sure to check your facebook..

Good review.. are you sure Grendy had diecast arms? I don't think he did.. But you like the figure.. that's great . A 7.5 from you is alike a 8.5 or 9 to the average guy.. metal TFO! That's fantastic!

yeah they needed a TFO for the Metaltech.. that was a great Idea. about 2 years ago I was begging HLpro to re-release the TFO and enemy disk pack because we needed that..they said "no".. maybe this was the plan all along?
Where the hell is Baron!! Where you at, Baron?? ha

Probably so... I don't have the details on that. But a bunch of good ones are coming and they are going to come much faster than in the pase.. "collectors will only collect if there is a collection to collect"..
