the fact we have two message boards where by news of (voltron) golion and dairugger updates are getting mixed up is probably a good thing

Now that I've got the Bandai Soul of Chogokin GX-71 Voltron and Titan Power King of Beasts next to each other, I don't f**kin' know man... I had the SOC on a really high pedestal and still do but that Titan Power aesthetic is just so damned imposing in comparison and it's not just the size difference. Good grief. That Titan is looking great – even next to the gold standard of GoLion. Resistance may be futile, indeed... Wow, they do look pretty together. I'm still leaning on the GX-71 a bit probably due to old school aesthetics of what I remember golion as a child, but yeah that titan one is like a modernized up take on the overall bot. Thanks for the nice photo as always Kuma.

The MM isn't that flimsy. It's actually pretty solid assuming you didn't get any or many QC problems. But GX-88 looks miles above it in terms of detail and function. Agreed. I have the MM on my desk. Not that flimsy. Compared to many other toys, it's pretty solid construction. From a R&D (Research & Development) point of view, I think the Bandai engineers had to look at the MM and take pointers. Somethings they must have said "this is good, better than what we planned." Others, they must have laughed and said we can do better. I think it would have been silly to just do it "their way" and ignore the MM. Love it or hate it, I think MM helped the overall community to revive/clear a way for someone like Bandai to take notice at making an official SOC for Dairugger into a much needed reality for us collectors. Its been a long road for it to get here, but I for one am happy its finally coming to fruition as an official SOC. Will we ever get a DX version to have one stand next to the original who knows... but here's hoping...

I think it's based on the new Gundam Origin Ova as I don't recall the embedded gatling cannons on the zaku from the 70's.

Quick comparison between the normal release and the 40year version, I like the normal release a little bit more, it is more white and the red, blue and yellow are more pastel colors (hard to capture on an old iphone camera but trust me, its better). The 40 year version also has a display arm instead of only a display base so action poses are easy to do with the 40 year version. The Zaku is still unopened in the box. Thank you for the side by side comparison, I held off on getting the 40th as I had the original one already and just wanted to see if the difference aside from paint apps and decals was worth the price of admission yet again (I'm patiently waiting for my Red Comet to arrive still )

I finally had time to unbox this bad boy.. and decided to snapped a few pics to share with everyone here. Initial impression is that it is a brick - very substantial and very heavy - almost too heavy :-) For those wanting to see how this compares to the original Chokinzoku (bandai godaikin version), here are a few pictures.
It's amazing how well the original sculpt holds up; In general, the over all look of the original is the best; the chest and waists look more muscular; where as the heavy metal sculpt is more lean.... when side by side, the large "28" on the lower forearm *really* stands out on the modern version. anyhow, I'm going to try to get some hands on time with the toy and perhaps I'll post longer term impressions. That's a lot of SG-01 Really nice, thanks for the images.

It took them 12 years, but my wait is finally over... I'm finally getting a Zeon Zaku from Bandai with metal composite joint systems from this line. I hope they continue pushing some of the others out like the standard green zaku and the tri-star zaku set and of course the much revered gouf.. You can bet on that. Once they have the mold, it's going to have all sort of P-bandai re-skin, re-color. By that time, your wallet will wish GFFMC Red Comet never happened LOL ... so freaking true.... sigh... time to take another hard look at my collecting ways and wonder what should be swapped out for the Zeon invasion (sometimes i wonder if this is really a hobby or more of an addiction...)

So unfair that we had to wait so much to get a Char unit. The guy must be one of the most popular (or the most) gundam character ever... The tri star in the anime used Doms (not zaku)... I think they used them in manga but not sure. I want Ramba Ral Gouf (they are pretty similar to zaku so almost 70% of the work is already done). The old man is a legend too (he even appear in the build saga outside UC so I guess he is popular in Japan too). The origin has them in high mobility Zaku types , either or I want them all

Looks cool, want to get one but no idea where to put this guy My Fort Max still stands on the carpet floor in a corner of my bedroom. I wouldn't worry too much about where to put it, as long as your significant other has no issue with a toddler size robot in the presence. Heh. I have not put in my order yet, but will do it soon. Just thinking if I just want 1 or 2. I have very bad luck on QC (my previous Takara Unicron has 2 left jaws in planet mode LOL), so getting an extra can both serve as an insurance in case I get a defect, and a backup in case a friend later wants one, or sell it later to make some money, given my 1st is problem free. And just my way to help push the funding with an extra effort. So more likely I can afford to push for 2. The current numbers are indeed not encouraging, as it significantly slowed down once it passed 2000 mark. Though I am thinking a lot of the foreign orders and shop preorders are not accounted for in the current total, and many like myself are still waiting or raising funds before committing to the purchase. So the last minute bump can be significant. But how big that bump is going to be is very much unknown. A huge 4000 orders bump may still be not enough unfortunately. haha, yes how to convince the missus on having a toddler around the flat will indeed be an "interesting" conversation...

Lol! I try to explain the MAGNITUDE of HM ZERO - but I don't want to be pushy about it. Glad to see you took my advice and checked it out. The thing is utterly REDICULOUS. Definitely the most BAD ASS, MENACING and UTTERLY INSANE gokin I've EVER collected. I can't believe people are sleeping on this thing.... Yeah I totally get it and understand. I said same thing this is ridiculous and I workout often. You could kill somebody with this weapon. 😛 I wouldn’t have bought it myself but I took your word. Thanks Cole! Ah yes, childhood memory of me dropping a gokin on my foot when I was little and tearing up cause it hurt like hell... and then freaking out that I might have just broke my toy only to realize later my toe was bleeding

In Asia (HK and Macau specifically) where I am from, they were just sold in toy stores and the toy section of larger department stores, usually behind the counter on glass display cases, so they are out of reach from kids that can't afford them LOL, and can only have the parents ask for them if they are really buying the goods. So True! I remember walking past shops that had Dairugger XV on display but it was always out of reach for me to ever touch it or it was behind a glass case just taunting and you in awe. I do miss those good old days in Asia when there would be literal hole in the wall toy stores that would carry random gokins and jumbos for sale... either hanging off the ceiling so kids can't reach them yet again or locked behind them glass cabinets.

My opinion, if the cost for this KO is pretty much the same as the official release as a customer I shouldn't have to go and "fix" anything. I can somewhat accept this if the cost was half the cost of a typical official release but the cost for this KO Is pretty much on par as the official and this is just unacceptable.

Would be really cool if someone could do a comparison between the 40th version and the 1009 release, other than the core fighter/waist articulation and tempo markings with some additional detailing regarding paint. I have the 1001 and 1009, from this line, and I'm trying really hard in holding myself off from yet another RX-78 gundam figure (I really hope that Bandai continues down the Zaku lines instead with Char coming soon...)

Love what sentinel's approach is to this vast line of IPs that are typically ignored by bigger name companies. The products from Sentinel are usually pretty top notch, minus a few releases... my only gripe with them is their diecast contents in their bots tends to be lighter than say the diecast used in releases from bandai or fewture products. Sometimes this works to their advantage on certain articulation related endeavors and other times the figure just feels lighter than it should be. That said, I am still a huge fan of their stuff generally just to have some company acknowledge the existences of other gokins out there besides the typical mazingers, grendizer, getters is a real treat. Looking forward to their take on the daikyojin.
