well, to paraphrase Dr. Frankenstein; SHE's ALIVE!!!! all the little changes/enhancements i've been making to the MegaHouse GUNDAM SEED Lacus Clyne i recently acquired have suddenly inadvertently coalesced before my eyes into a doll that strongly suggests my favorite VOCALOID character, Megurine Luka! now i finally have the 1/6 doll of her i've been wishing for!!! vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Megurine_Lukavocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Vocaloid_Wiki

Does the Wreck-Gar toy have a mustache on it? I had it as a kid. Never noticed but it looks like it has one in that picture. i'm pretty sure you are seeing the upper lip. a lot of the TFs out there with full faces often tend have a rather full set of prominent lips featured in their facial sculpts...

so i've had the notion for quite a while now to get hold of one of the old mid-90's-ish TAKARA "Tokimeki Memorial" 27cm. dolls from the early-1990's Japanese Visual Novel series by KONAMI corp. i always was quite fond of the Sailor Suit design from this series, and figured that the identical suit from any one of the several dolls in the line should just about readily fit my 27cm. a sophisticated, highly poseable, plastic model-like body for it's time. certainly no competition for the vastly superior (IMHO) 1/6 OBITSU BODY. unsightly exposed screws were painted over by me. speaking of OBITSU BODYs, VOLKS had evidently marketed this body at one time to hobbyists/customizers as an "Excellent Base Model Mini"

as some around here may already be well aware, i'm a fan of the little known and appreciated late-1990's Anime/Manga series "Mamotte Shugoetten" by author/artist " Minene Sakurano" that series' female lead, the Moon Goddess "Shaorin" is one of my favorite female Anime/Manga characters, despite her and her series' dubious nature as something of an obvious rip-off of "Ah! My Goddess" and it's legendary female lead goddess "Belldandy" well, this series in question here benefited from a short-lived but immense popularity in japan in it's day, with the expected deluge of marketing. two of the best items made were a pair of dolls of the female lead goddess, one in 1/5 by TSUKUDA HOBBY corp, the other, a small 1/6 example of VOLKS corp's early proto-Dollfie "Ultimate Figure Series" character doll line. well, both of these dolls today are very hard to find outside of Japan. after passing up my opportunity to get the VOLKS version back in 2007/'08 for around $170shipped, i came by the TSUKUDA HOBBY version by way of a dear fellow member another doll forum. though i feel the TSUKUDA HOBBY is the vastly superior of the two, i've had a nagging desire over the last seven years or so to procure the VOLKS as well, first chance i got, providing the price was reasonable. well... i finally got that chance, just a couple days ago, for a very reasonable $50shipped. she should be in my arms in a week or so; (((( TSUKUDA HOBBY version, for Reference ))))

got this for about $65 shipped, for parts for my first HCM VF-1J i had paid $150 for some years ago; turned out, that this one, despite broken head lasers, was in far better shape overall, all but mint, in fact, including nice, tight sparingly-used joints throughout. my first HCM's intact head unit was moved over to the newer body, and i took the opportunity to do a new detailing job with fresh TAMIYA COLOR, a set of ultra fine paintbrushes i recently got hold of, and some spare VF-1 decals i had tucked away; Lastly, i threw together an effective gunpod strap for my BANDAI 2001 1/55 reissue;

i, for one, hope that this renewal has re-engineered wing pivot joints. i have a 1S Strike Focker, and the wing set with hardpoints broke on me, and the pair without hardpoints are holding up so far, after coating their C-clamp connection points with layers of plastic model cement and cynoacrylate.
even then, those wings' movement are anything but smooth, and all too often prone to working loose. IMHO, the swappable wing design is the BANDAI HI-METAL VF-1's one truly serious weakness, a serious engineering SNAFU of exceedingly questionable value that should never be repeated, by anyone, ever again...
