If this really is 1 of just a handful like you say then the price is worth it. You will never see another one. 19 in one I've never heard of it and if I had the chance I'd be 450 poorer. Even if it is broken with ed printing that is fixable . Nice find I didn't but it. If you are interested, I can give you the contact information of the owner.

I met the collector this afternoon, and finally got the chance to see this rare piece in real life. The toy is a litte bigger than GB-72, but with a totally different design. Some parts are made by plastic while some are made by metal. The collector has kept this set for 32 years, and desided to let it go now. Do you guys think this set is worth USD 450 due to its rarity?
The right antenna on the head was broken and missing. No. 10 is missing 2 wheels (#9 on the left is for comparison).

More old pics. Same midsize, different layout. I always wonder, does this variant of mid-size lionbot come with any inner lid like the other variation does?

Hi guys,
I recently met a collector online, and he showed me this rare set of Dairugger.
I have only seen the picture from a vintage sticker album issued in the 80's (bottom right corner), but never in real life. The collector said his father was the owner of the manufacturer, and the toy was a trial run at 50 sets only, mainly used as a prize for the kids to exchange if he/she completes the whole album. I will meet up with the collector later today and take some detailed pictures.

Sure, the box is pretty faded (the previous owner had it in the sun for many years) Nice collection, thanks for sharing!

You can actually pull the head off! which, like the GX-71 Golion - allows you to simulate a 4 lion head attack! the box was missing the black lion, but came with three lions - each with chrome elbows and tails. only one of the green lion is nearly perfect. no chrome wear on the elbow or tail. The red and spare green lion both have broken tails... The blue lion also has a chrome tail!
Hi,
Could you please share some pictures of the box as well as the inner cover?
Thanks.
Really appreciate it.

Thanks for the information! It’s too bad that the modern bootlegs are different, I’ll have to find some other way to source parts for a repair. No problem, hope the info. helps.

I don't think the modern bootleg can be used to fix the elbow problem due to different designs. The modern bootleg has only the upper half of the elbow (white part in the pic), and uses a screw to connet it with the 2 black pieces extened from the forearm. It should work better if you can find parts from the vintage bootleg, since it has the same design as the authentic GB-72.

Just wondering, is the "Lionking" set the only variant that has the chrome elbows?

Very cool. I ran it through google's website translator. It looks like the first one he shows,on the left is the Taiwan gb-73 in a different box compared to the one we usually see in the US. The second one that he shows, on the right (and combines in the pictures) looks like a larger gb-73 that is modified and also has the addition of four additional "vehicles". See how the box says 15 in 1 but the overlay that matches the DX style says "19 in 1"? Or are both box versions that he shows "19 in 1" versions? I'm a little confused since he actually doesn't show the first one opened, if he means that's the gb-73 KO in there or another 19 in 1. Sorry about the confusion.
The very first picture shows 2 boxes, they are the "special bootlegs" I was talking about.
The 2nd picture is the Taiwan bootleg GB-73. The reason he shows that picture is that he thought the 2 special bootlegs he won from the auction are GB-73 KO's (the seller did not show what is inside when he listed them online).
Both sets are identical, even the inner covers are the same, both say 19 in 1. Only the outer boxes are designed differently.

My friend in Taiwan owns a special bootleg that is bigger than GB-72, but smaller than the plastic DX version. He has 2 sets with different boxes, but the toys are the same. The materials are plastic and metal. It was made in Taiwan, but was rarely seen even in the 80's. Here is the link to his blog. The content is written in Chinese, but the photos should show the details. blog.xuite.net/yapyted/twblog/107518196

It was a great deal, and looks like the one you got has the antenna on No. 6, which is very rarely seen.
Usually, it is the other variant that includes the antennae.
Does yours come with all 4 antennae?

Hello everyone,
I am looking for a vintage mid-size lionbot. I prefer a complete set with box, but will also consider a loose one if the condition is ok
Please kindly pm me if you have one to sell.
Any version is welcomed!
Thanks.

Hey Ginrai,
Thanks for your quick reply. I already sent the email through the "Contact Us" page you provided, thanks.
Actually, I tried to sign up for the auction through eBay during the weekend, but it kept showing up the "Cannot reach the Auction House." messages. So I decided to register the Auctionzip account instead.
Anyways, I really appreciate your help, thanks a lot.
By the way, I checked the list of your collection being sold in the upcoming auction, and I will show it to my friends.
Best regard,
