Bandai DX VF-31J. Transformed through all three modes once and displayed in Battroid mode. I bought this from Image Anime in NYC for $300, selling for $260 plus shipping. Photos here: imgur.com/a/39mGM

I'm so excited! But I hope we hear more soon. So far the art above is the only image we have of the new Jaegers

I've only just started Macross figures, so I have nothing besides my Bandai VF-31J. Still, everyone I asked on other forums said Arcadia's VF-0 toys were brilliant and I figured this accessory would sell out fast, so I jumped on it. I'd prefer to get a VF-0S than a 0A though, since I hear the VF-0S is the only Arcadia VF-0 for which they fixed the weak thigh joint issues.

Looks awesome! I have a set on the way from Amiami, but no VF-0S to put it on, sadly. Hopefully one day I'll come across a compatible Valk at the right price.

It is pretty sad. I bought it even though I don't yet own a VF-0, though, since prices will surely go up on the aftermarket.

Oh okay. The largest thing I order are 12" figures so I should be fine. Thanks

That's so odd. Has it happened in the last day? Was looking forward to snagging something rare from Mandarake but if it's that expensive I'll have to pass

I think you summed it up best; I agree entirely. I'm usually a sucker for big robots but this costs too much, and you get too little (especially relative to the Bandai)

Haha, I saw this an hour after you posted and it was gone. I guess this one isn't meant to be.

Missed it! Oh no Although I probably won't miss it; I can't afford to have too many of these anyway and would rather I got a few different molds. Still, if the PO goes up again I'll jump on it

Oh, and I found this on youtube just now Looking at the figure in this video, the paint looks better than I remember it. Maybe I was so taken up with my shiny new Valk that I didn't notice. Edit: I'm actually watching the review now and he keeps making really un-funny 'that's what she said' jokes. I guess we're starved for reviews and better take what we can get

Saw it in a store today while I was out buying my first Macross toy. It totally dwarfs the SOC version and looked very impressive to me, though I can't talk about articulation and plastic quality and whatever else. Paint didn't look like a $400 figure; it was very clean but I expect something either really rich or really detailed (preferably both) at that price-point, and the clean matte paint wasn't up to it for me. Perhaps not worth $400, depending on the material quality and engineering. But if this gets discounted down the road, I'd much rather have a massive, imposing Voltron than a relatively small die-cast figure.

Picked this up today at a store in New York; it's my first Macross figure and I am so, so pleased with it. Worried about transforming it too often and breaking something or wearing the parts down. I actually like it enough that I want to get Messer's jet as well! Any tips for a first-time Valk owner?

Thanks for explaining the kanji; you learn something new every day I suppose there is similarity with ThreeA because of TOA and Biomega, but most of 1000Toys' upcoming stuff seems to be original. They teased stuff for both Izmojuki (modular industrial mechs) and Jomon Kutugu (figures inspired by Jomon crafts) this year, and both of those are original works. Plus the company seems to be embracing open orders for their newer figures instead of limited sales which disappear in minutes. The result is that aftermarket prices on all the newer stuff aren't that high; only the first two releases command huge prices now. All in all, 1000Toys and ThreeA are similar in that they both produce expensive toys in limited quantities for adult collectors, but within that category the two companies' QC, engineering, commitment to release schedules and treatment of their fanbase are worlds apart. By the way, if you use Facebook, the '1000Toys Fan Group's has been my best resource for keeping track of the company. It's a small group but whenever announcements, updates and prototype pictures show up, I see them there first.

That's interesting; I had no idea about the kanji letters. They probably are; at the very least, the line between the two companies is blurry.
What do you think of the TOA line so far? I like what they're doing with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, which aren't part of the line but use the same base body, but I'm also glad the company is expanding their operations now. Their releases for the first two years were all variations on the Synthetic Human body, and it's time for a change or at least a substantial evolution.

Agreed! Their own products seem to only go up in price, which is a worry. Still, there is some good stuff in the pipeline, and they also provide services to other companies which should help them make some money. I know they do production for 1000Toys, Armarauders and Truforce, and the new 4-inch line should be popular since the figures seem cheap and well-made. WeGo also seems to sell well.
