Popinica DX Voltes V (PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1)Thread Started on Jul 12th, 2007 at 3:02Last week, I made a bid for this Popinica PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1 on Taiwan Yahoo! Auctions. I contacted the seller who offered the final price of NT$5,000 (or US$152), which included shipping and handling fees. Well, I know it's pricey for such an item; however, with the prices of newer gokin items nowadays (and mind you that they're mostly made in China), I might as well spend the money on an original Japanese vintage diecast toy like this Popinca PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1. Anyway, this toy strikes a nostalgic chord in my heart since I've always wanted a complete Popinica DX Voltes V, and now at least I've gotten twenty percent closer in realizing my childhood dream. The seller shipped the toy the following day after I made payment. Anyway, I knew that it would arrive the next day, so I was eagerly anticipating it's arrival all throughout today. When I arrived home from work, I asked my gf if any packages for me had arrived. "Nope," she replied. My heart sank when I heard this. This soon changed, however, when I entered the computer room and saw a box on the desk. "This has got to be it!" I told myself. "Hey, you tricked me!" I hollered at her. Actually, she really didn't know about the package since her mother was the one who signed for it in the afternoon. Anyway, I hugged that package like a kid being handed a gift on Christmas Eve. That's when my gf entered the room and said, "Hey, you never hug and love me like that!" I must say that the seller did a terrific job in packaging the PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1. He wrapped the toy's box with bubble wrap and then padded all six inner sides of the cardboard packaging with plenty of folded bubble wrap and styro-plastic sheets. This insured safe delivery of the toy and its box. After I removed the bubble wrap, I was delighted to see that the toy's box was in good shape with no dents on all eight corners. Also, just as the seller had posted on Taiwan Yahoo! Auctions, this PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1 set is in near-mint condition and includes all the missiles, Popinica advertisement booklet, and instruction sheet. I own two SOC GX-31 Voltes V sets and a Hong Kong-made Camp Big Falcon. Anyway, I think the SOC rendition of Voltes V has its own design merits since it's highly detailed and closely resembles the original anime. On the other hand, there's just that certain feeling I get from looking at this vintage Popinica. Well, I wonder if collectors 30 years from now will still say the same for the GX-31 Voltes V; that is, " They don't make 'em like they use to." Great! Now that I finally have this PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1, I just have to search and find the best deals for the other four Volt Machines. I've gotten closer¡X40 percent to be exact¡Xto realizing my childhood dream of owning a complete Popinica DX Voltes V after I got this PB-06 Volt Panzer-3 last night. First of all, though, I must thank venson1969 for helping me bid for this PB-06 Volt Panzer-3 on YAHOO! JAPAN back in late August. I had to wait until this month to get this item since it was shipped along with Venson's other purchases from Japan. Anyway, I really appreciate Venson's efforts in getting me this item and for providing a pair of replacement treads. Thanks Venson! «D±`·PÁ¤ý¤j?E ;D I bought this toy for 17,490 Yen. The Japanese seller described it as an unused deadstock item. Upon closer inspection, however, the box shows sign of wear and the inner styrofoam tray has a small piece missing. Well, as experienced collectors know, any toy will age over time inside or outside the box. Well, considering its age, the condition of this PB-06 Volt Panzer-3 is impressive. I'd say it's near mint with the chrome plated plastic parts still shiny. Let's Volt-In!I just can't wait to get a Volt Bomber-2, but, anyhow, here's a simulated Volt-In sequence with my two Volt Machines: Venson's Replacement Threads for Volt Panzer-3Can you tell which tread is the original or a replacement? Well, the difference between the original and replacement treads is even more obvious with the following picture. The original tread on the left seem to be melted. Although the original treads that came with my PB-06 Volt Panzer-3 are still intact, I find the quality of Venson's replacement treads to be much better. Venson mentioned to me that he spent much effort and money to produce replacement treads for the Volt Panzer-3. Fortunately, he was able to find a craftsman who could build the mold. However, the first few treads that were produced from the mold either melted or snapped. It was after much trial and error experimenting with different rubber materials that he was finally able to produce these excellent replacement threads. Anyway, for collectors who also want to replace their Volt-Panzer-3's treads, I suggest contacting Venson to order one or several pairs from him. Tenk ´ken (Sky Sword)Lastly, here's the compact Sky Sword that comes in three separate parts with the PB-06 Volt Panzer-3. Now I'll just have to wait patiently to get the other three Volt Machines.

I forgot to mention in my anecdote above that vivi1561 had a part in my final decision to purchase the PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1. Anyway, vivi1561 had bought several items from the same seller and highly recommended him. You're right vivi1561, it's in good condition. Thanks for the advice. Also, thanks for showing us some of your collection at the last toy collectors gathering. ³£¬O¦]¬°Venson¤jôªº±ÀÂË»Padvice,§Ú¤~¨M©w¸òsmcbank¶R³oÓPB-04ªiù¤¸¹¤@¸¹¾÷. ªGµMVenson¤jô¬O¹ï,³f«~¦nªº¨S¸Ü»¡. If I could only have one vintage DX toy, it would be Voltes V. Man, I'm super jealous! How tall is the combined form of the DX version?

If I could only have one vintage DX toy, it would be Voltes V. Man, I'm super jealous! How tall is the combined form of the DX version? There's no need to be jealous. With much patience (and some connections), I think you can easily find the PB-04 Volt Crewzer-1 on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. Anyway, as I mentioned on this thread, I only have the Volt Crewzer-1, which forms the head of Voltes V when combined with the other four Volt Machines. How tall is the combined DX Voltes V? Here's a picture of it alongside the SOC version.

For the price I paid for SOC Voltes V he should have come with spring loaded missile launchers. To me this is why the vintage toys will always be far superior.

Awesome!! I have been a lurker on this forum for a while, I new to this world and have started working on a small collection. I have been wanting to start putting together voltes v by finding the sperate boxes like you have here (forgive me I am still learning the lingo). Other than E-bay where are other good places to look for something like this? I see people talk about e-bay Japan, yahoo auctions Japan and Taiwan...so if you don't speak the languages how does one get their foot in the door? Are people who can help me out on this forum? Also while I get that prices are dictated more buy what people are willing to pay, but is there a basic guideline as to how much these seperate boxes of voltes should go for? For instance I saw a complete set for $1000 on ebay ($200/box), that would seem on the high side to me? Thanks for any help.

I have been wanting to start putting together voltes v by finding the sperate boxes like you have here... For instance I saw a complete set for $1000 on ebay ($200/box), that would seem on the high side to me? Nowadays, US$1,000 is a reasonable price to pay for a complete set of the individually boxed vintage Popy Volt-Machines. (The Volt-In-Box complete set commands twice or triple the price of the individually boxed sets.) Selling on Yahoo! Japan. Direct selling price: US$3,281. Since you're also planning to collect each Volt Machine separately, the most difficult one to find in relative mint condition is the PB-07 Volt Frigate-4. I've watched it go upwards of US$350 on Yahoo! Japan. In any case, it will cost less if you purchase all five as a set. Check out Venson's blog of his awesome Popy Voltes V collection: tw.myblog.yahoo.com/vensonwang1969/article?mid=4819&prev=4830&next=4737tw.myblog.yahoo.com/vensonwang1969/article?mid=72&prev=98&next=25&l=f&fid=5
