AiA and Lunar are the two subbers that seem to get these out ASAP. Yep; and AiA does a great job! Just watched this episode again (with subs this time) and was once again blown away.  This is really an amazing series! I don't understand why more folks aren't excited about it. |

i actually ignored this one for a long time, but just sat down and watched the first 7 eps this week..i'm lovin it! Great action, classic Macross storyline, decent characters (not the best, but they'll do)...plus I love the Valk designs.
Only bad thing about it is that I'm going to have to buy a ton of new toys when they come out...hopefully they release all the variations

Episode 13 RAW. I just watched it and I am confused now. I don't think the subs will clarify it till the next episode. Yeah; lot of freaky stuff going down this episode. It looks like Breara is Ranka's long-lost brother (or at least, the cyborg remains of him). It also looks like Grace is either the real bad-guy of the series, or at least works for them. When she activated the Black/Hole-Space-Fold thingey, she yelled something about destroying the Galactic Fairy (Cheryl) as part of a plan to ensure that the Humans and Zentradi become enemies (according to one translation). I can't figure out who would benefit from renewed warfare between the two races. Except maybe the Mech & Arms manufacturers. And I'm still kind of stumped on Ranka's obvious connection to the Vajra. Maybe she's some type of Vajra/Zentradi/Human hybrid? |

This is really an amazing series! I don't understand why more folks aren't excited about it. perhaps due to all the singing, teen pop idol, and somewhat girly story-line. Don't get me wrong, I like the series, but the series came across as somewhat girly to me. |

This is really an amazing series! I don't understand why more folks aren't excited about it. perhaps due to all the singing, teen pop idol, and somewhat girly story-line. Don't get me wrong, I like the series, but the series came across as somewhat girly to me. I admit that the show isn't as "hot-blooded" as a Super-Robot show, but I wouldn't call it "girly". To me, "girly" brings to mind shows like Sailor Moon. Most of the songs are pretty cool to me, despite the fact that I never was a fan of J-Pop. The mech design and combat scenes are very well done, and the plot twists and nods to previous Macross series keep me interested in the show during its quieter moments. |

I just watched 8-16 during my commute on my iPod Touch. I don't see the confusion during episode 12? It seems straight forward, albeit, I watched 11-13 all at once. DLing 17 and about to convert it to Mpeg-4...
The Global, is a 1st generation Macross, similar to the SDF-1 that was mutilated during the first Macross. The Global is a secret hive complex used by the Vajra. Looks like there's some "Star Wars" like double-crossing in the highest form of government at Frontier. I can't say I was surprised.
Overall from EP 1 to 16. This series has been ok, it pays much homage to the original, but sometimes a bit too similar and doesn't offer much originality to any of the Macross series that preceded it. I hope the upcoming episodes will turn this around. Not sure what I think about the new love triangle (wow, that was a surprise, not!) between a cross dressing, underachiever turn hero, an alien Queen and an android muse. Sounds almost comical.
Being true to the Japanese Anime militarism, why don't these supposed military personnel cut their hair and shave? How does a Warrant Officer get to pilot a jet? At least Hikaru was an Ensign to start, I guess that was a field commission, albeit he wasn't even part of the enlisted ranks?
I'm still waiting for Ranka's "brother" to die, since he is the "Fokker" of the group. Then you got blondie up on the bridge...is she suppose to be a shadow of Misa Hayase? She's really not doing it for me, Misa was pretty hot in an older, softer, more refined way. Ranka seems too young to be involved in any kind of romance. About her being an alien, should have figured that out, when the artist gave her green hair, ala Miriya.
It also seems that the Japanese has a real weird sense of romance, I understand these are supposedly young adults to teenagers, but come on, let's get a bit more modern. Unless Japanese boys are really that clueless?

I watched EP 19 subbed on the bus ride home...18 and 19 has been the best so far...They are finally breaking away from kissing the original's butt and making their own stories. So this series now has promise! I hate cliffhangers and I can't wait for the subbed 20!
