Those tmnt figures are cool. I am just not sure they are cool enough to spend the extra coin over the ones at your average department store.

My wild guess is that Kaiyodo is trying to keep the line going even though it seems like they're done making some of the Japanese robot characters (Not!).
I like their Assembleborg line. But now they've also branched out to other character franchises... again, to keep the Revoltech line going; and it's all about promoting their Revoltech Joint technology (which really isn't all that special anymore) and the versatility of their action figures.
When the Revoltech line started out, their patented Revoltech Joint system used to be all the rave... it was particular to action figures of those small sizes, to be able to pose so dynamically and keep their poses "locked" as you can see and feel when you position the joints and they click into place (the larger joints, at least).
The smaller joints for the necks and other small parts don't click-lock, they move under friction and stay held in place by that same friction. But those smaller joints are still part of Kayiodo's patented Revoltech Joint system.
These plastic figures are so easy to make Kaiyodo could just sh*t them out by the volumes every month if they wanted to, but that would hurt their budget if they put out excess amounts of action figures that are just gonna sit around collecting dust in the warehouses. As you can see, for example, the Mazinkaiser Revoltech #16 figure sold out so quickly in the begining, and now it's not a popularly demanded item; So fewer of them are being made. Meanwhile, they've gone up in price in aftermarkets such as eBay.

i dont think it would be the same situation for today magengar, in case mazinkaiser thats because there isnt any cheap and good figure for mazinkaiser. these day revoltech figure are getting expensive although still cheaper than SRC and RIOBOT.

You made a good point there, boma. I had completely underestimated that economical aspect of the Revoltechs being cheaper than the SRCs and the Riobots.

I actually never cared for the revoltech joints. I only collected them for the great robots sculpted by Yamaguchi. I bought his stuff long before revoltech existed. I wonder if they are having a harder time getting licenses due to competition. With SRC and Setinel on the scene scooping up a lot of robot licenses, they may be having a hard time keeping up.

Yamaguchi did an awesome job sculpting many of the super robots that were made in this toy line, and he was spittin them out almost one robot sculpt per month or two! That's pretty quick for a sculpt artist, and to nail the details down pat for each individual robot you can tell he's been watching tons of super robot anime while growing up! I'm a fan of the Revoltech joints mainly because I can use them for making custom figures. zozo-mag

I still think those old evas are some of the best made to date. collectiondx.com/toy_review/2002/moribito_type_02

Old Evas? You mean there were "Evas" even before the Evangelion EVAs?
That Moribito looks cool... it must've been before the Revoltech line, am I right?

Old Evas? You mean there were "Evas" even before the Evangelion EVAs? That Moribito looks cool... it must've been before the Revoltech line, am I right? zozo-mag That It was the early robot museum line. I think it was a misstep on their part only due to the fact it was more sized with the other xebec stuff. The rest of the Robot museum line became the precursors of revoltech. There was actual transformer stuff planned (in this thread) that was to be the KT line, but ended up becoming revoltech once they came up with those joints. Here are the evas I mean. They had made some figures before these that were sort of lame and dated looking. Then these came along. Then the metallic repaints came along. I actually had never seen the show, but I had most of the metallic line. Well at least a few. I have 01, 02, the silver, and the winged production unit. EDIT: and an amazing thing about the line was the price was so good. Many of them were $15-20 figures.

Nice find. I love that Kinnikuman, everything about it (except the head and face) is a perfect base for making custom super-robot pilot figures. And I don't care about all that muscular detail so much, cos I can still work around it. Actually, I really want that gray faceless prototype shown in the Kinnikuman pics! As for the price: being a MINI figure, the price should be lower; it didn't cost Kaiyodo any arms and legs to make those Revo Mini's. But what the heck, $20+ bucks for a Revoltech Mini isn't so bad as long as it's something I would want and it suits my purpose well. zozo-mag
