Well I just got my Daimos in the mail today. I think I lucked out as mine is flawless. No paint chips or smudges. I can say that I was worried that I was going to get a lemon after all the reports of QC problems. I was gratified to be wrong. ;D
I think for now I am going to leave it in robot mode and not risk any paint chips. When I build up the courage I will transform him completely.
Even with all the reviews of people having issues with Daimos, I would say it is a must buy.
Cheers!

I agree with you GC8 Monkey, and I too will leave mine in robot mode. I'll probably buy a second one to leave it in TRANZER mode, so I don't scratch and ruin a perfectly good figure. Bandai marketing executives are just genius!!! Clever devils...

Ever occurred to you why there is a STAND included with almost every Bandai SOC figure??? To store all the accessories! Btw, $15 Transformers from the Titanium series also come with display stands. $5 GI Joe figures too. You can bet my Daimos will get played with A LOT.

I absolutely definitely flew my Buster machines around my apartment making "woosh!" noises for a few minutes when I first got my Gunbuster . I've definitely done the same with some of the transformed Ideon machines . So, quinjester, you haven't heard from Andy either? Did you e-mail him? I did last week but no reply yet... I haven't, no, but I'm not really going to worry over it. He'll get them when he gets them, he'll mail them when he mails them. He isn't going to rip me off and knowing I paid less for Daimos than any other option I wont mind waiting a bit longer.

I think it looks great ...but I would have preferred the sacrifice of anime accuracy to the groin area having gundam flaps.. like what happened with Masterpiece prime.and maybe instead of having a larger tranzer head that can store inside.. Just an add on and have the Daimos arms be able to collapse smaller and fit inside Daimos upper body..like what happens to the godmars arms
i still preordered 3 though.. and bandai if you make super corrections on daimos ...adding waist articulation.. gundam esque groin flaps to allow a more realistic leg raise.. I'll stil get 3 more..

I'm happy to report that after a couple transformations I have no paint scratches on my Daimos. I'm not sure how I got so lucky since the scratching seems to be inherant of the design. I wasn't really that careful in transforming it, either, I just sort of fumbled my way through like I would with any cheapy Transformer. Maybe there were some batches with stronger paint? I do have to criticize the arm placement though. They're really packed in there tight in Tranzer mode and it can be a bear getting them in just the right position for the shell to close neatly around them. Other than that, I found the transformation fun and nearly intuitive. The only part I had to consult the instructions on was the leg panels. I could not figure out how to swing out the inner panels because I wasn't bending the knees. Once this guy is in Tranzer mode he's a solid little brick with a very satisfying heft. Rolls nice, too. One of the best SOC toys yet I think.

Nope that stand from the Gamu-Toys gallery isn't included in Daimos, it's for a 12" figure. Gold Is the stand included with Daimos? So I can pose the kicks?

Just got mine today, he's a fast shipper! Just 4 days, and via airmail only. Lucky I don't have any subtle scratches except this one... I need to sand it a bit then airbrush. Really nice figure! He's heavy from waist to feet. And one thing, the wheels are rubber, just thick but can be squeezed. It is not like a pure plastic that is not bendable and hard. vic01

Are they rubber? I couldn't determine exactly what they are. They don't have that standard squishy rubber feel, but they don't have the hard plastic feel, either. It's almost like a really hard rubber. Whatever they are, they look good, they're evenly balanced and they roll nicely, so that's what's important.

how stable is the toy? how tight are the joints? He feels very balanced and solid when standing at a neutral pose and also in many action poses. I don't think he can stand on his own for that big kick pose but I haven't tried it yet. The joints are all very tight on mine, but not too tight. The shoulders are nice metal ratchets and everything else is rotating and hinge joints. The head and hands are simple ball/socket joints. The hips probably should have been ratchets, but so far they don't seem to be a problem because they are quite solid.
