We all want our favorite character figures to be perfect (to our own taste), but that is most likely never going to happen. I think the only way to achieve that is to make it ourselves or have them made to our exact specifications. And when I win the Lotto, I'll make sure to do that! }D

yes, and the source material is totally inconsistent. Look at the canards on the Spazer, when the Spazer is going away from you, they are bent backwards, when its coming towards you they are pointed forward. Same with the Enemy Mini-disks, sometimes they are triangles, when they are going away from the viewer, they bend back to the viewer, when they come towards you they are bent forward. The general rule with Toei animation is that fins and a lot of time horns and spikes are always pointed in the direction of the "camera"..you got to freeze frame to pick up on it but nothing looks the same as the scenes progress. The pattern on the center of Gin Gin in UFO mode was drawn in (from my count) at least FIVE different patterns. Just depending on what animation team was doing the drawing on that particular group of cartoon cells. HLpro was forced to consult with Dynamic planning's Nagai drawings for a clear image of what Gin Gin looked like, because if you freeze the fames of Gin Gin in episode 7 and look at each frame, most of the time Gin Gin was drawn real crappy. Three different teams were drawing like crazy to pump this anime out as fast as possible. The best drawings were done by the Japan team, the Korea and Taiwan teams just scribbled it out as fast as possible. Priority was not placed on the enemy robots, you can see that they were clearly drawn by guys who where not really giving a crap.. all the good work was done on Duke Fleed and Grendizer ...and the supporting cast. The behind the scenes production of UFO Grendizer was a nightmare, totally chaotic. Today they are classics, and in the West they are now seen as some kind of "high art" but back in Japan in those days they were basically low-budget productions that the Japanese parents wanted removed from television. Most Japanese parents didn't want their kids watching this kind of stuff..

The same applies to Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Getta Robo, and Getta Robo G. All the characters are drawn different from scene to scene. It got so bad with Mazinger that in several scenes the its fists were colored white, the grills in its mouth were omitted, the head was too big or too little, the body was too fat, the Scrander varied wildly, and the robots' size varied even more so in comparison to its surroundings. But you're right, these were basically the same as the USA Hanna-Barbara cartoons... which totally sucked in quality of their drawing, coloring, and attention to detail.

This figure is good, its real good.. takes some getting used to.. they things a lot different on this one. The articulation looks and feels different.. smoother, range of motion in some ways is the same or better. The range of motion of the leg going "back" or stepping back is a tad less but its still good. Im going to cut the video now.. hes hard to play with when the shields are installed though.. they are big and get in the way.. but that's just the character..more soon
he is also a bit BIGGER than Grendy..could be a signal that V2 is going to be a bit bigger also

Ok uploading to youtube now. be up in about 15 min or so.. I was working on my own so the camera work isn't the best and my lighting outside kinda sucks right now but I did the best I could with what I had..
I think this video may be longer than 15 min.. think they will cut the end of it off ? Youtube is unpredictable..

i guess its getting adjusted, it has happened before with other videos that i seen when they got uploaded early. its starts as a low quality and like in 20 or 30 mins after been uploaded to youtube the HD option is available (of course if the video originally was HD to begin with.
as for the Gin Gin figure, im surprise of the choice for the the awkward position of the open hands for the ball joint socket, kinda strange they leave it like that. i was concern about the leg articulation, i do not have metaltech Grendizer but from your video he looks to pose nicely, not like an SRC but still it has that articulation to give life to the character making it in a dynamic way. i like improvement on the elbow, much better than the one on the Metaltech Grendizer.

yeah its in HD now.. I don't understand the open hands either.. that is a easy thing to do.. I will ask them why later tonight. But the figure is nice! Very nice. Its better than MT01 in my opinion.. that's a good sign that V2 is going to even better.

I think the open hand is made so the wrist can support the weight of the TFO in some kind of position but I can figure it out yet. there has to be a reason for it..

Love the video review! Thanks GT.
There're so many ratcheted joints on this figure! I actually prefer softer ratchet on Gin Gin. I think it feel more luxuarious. Very informative. I like the parts where you point out parts that might need improvements on the next MT. That's ALWAYS plus in my book.
I DO miss the Camerawoman though...You're more fun together.

I think youll like it.. its "different". To me its a lot more fluid feeling then Grendy but you gotta get used to him. Its like they got a lot of movement out of very simple articulation. I would not call it "high tech" but very well thought-out. They are doing a lot with very little. And from the front you don't see much of the joints.. he looks like he isn't articulated at all but he is.. quite cool actually. I love it. My only gripe is that I think they could have found a way to get the saw blades to attach more securely but after messing with him for a while I guess its not really needed that much.. you just don't want to press on them or bump them..
