HLpro is basically saying to prepare yourselves mentally. They are still working on it and with the LEDs and other stuff its going to take to make it really cool, its NOT going to be cheap... I have a feeling that based on ideas that they already had and our reaction to it that they are going to try to put this thing out as a "Flagship" unit. So, just saying guys.. prepare yourselves. This isn't going to be something that you can pick up for 80 bucks. I think this is the kind of thing that you can put a Mazinger DX in and it would be right at home.. and that's a good thing.

yeah imagine if you had a scanning laser in the floor in front of the figure and it casts a grid pattern over the figure, like its scanning the surface... ha ha then you hit a switch and it makes a cone that shoots up on your ceiling ... OR a couple of searchlights that sweep your ceiling at night.. all plugged into the wall and running 24-7.. something like straight out of Disney! hahah

(fantasy Ruined... **facepalm**) Gettershadow, You just HAD to mention Disney in there! -------- Thanks for keeping us in the know on what's in store from HLPro regarding these robot bases. With as much work and effect as they're putting into it, of course those bases will carry a significant price. So far, we have Bandai and HLPro competing for the market in the large-scale life-like robot base category. On that note, let's review a quick history of this robot base trend... ===== For that past decade, we've seen some really nice SOC robot bases from Bandai... The Mazinger Motorized Platform base, the Nanbara base, Big Falcon, etc.... they're really nice bases with "play set' appeal, designed as novel means to mount/display your SOC's parts and accessories. The details are nice; but not convincing enough to give off that visual Sci-Fi vibe. Kotobukiya pioneered the first model life-like modern robot bases back in July 2008. Since then, other manufacturers have tried their hand at designing similar bases, but have not come close to the authentic look and feel of the Kotobukiya chain bases. There were several chain-base configurations to chose from, and you could lock them together to form a large mechanical bay. June 2012, a new kid on the block was introduced by the historic well-known manufacturer Bandai, in the form of the SOC DX Mazinger-Z which included a large robot hangar complete with two crane vehicles and floor-installed LED spotlights, with sound effects. This set went on pre-order and was released to the market in December 2012. The DX Maz alone was (and still is) the main attraction, but the DX robot hangar has been stealing the show. Not just for its features and detail, but also for its versatility and LARGE SIZE ( 15" tall X 17.5" wide open X 8.25" deep). It has lent itself to modified showroom versions for displaying other robot figures by the same company. The DX Mazinger-Z robot hangar would be the source of inspiration for many large-scaled life-like robot hangars soon to come. ===== Now I'm beginning to wonder if we'll start seeing a trend for robot bases. If the trend has been going on for a while, then this time the competition is about to heat up because these new robot bases look so life-like and very modern-- compared to the typical "play set" style retro/vintage/classic robot bases from decades ago. These modern hip new bases will break new ground with innovations in design, structure, and practicality. Think about it... someday you'll soon be able to fit your Grendizer Spazer set inside a large model robot base! This trend is just the beginning of greater things to come. zozo-mag

DX? are they thinking of making a bigger one too? Or do you mean in terms of quality? As the present base is too small according to the SOC black Mazinger photo w/the base.Im guessing you mean its going to be good enough for a heavy priced toy to be in .. anyhow who cares how much it costs if its worth it! this is by far not a paupers hobby! And those of us who arent rich but spend all are non rent/mortgage allowances on toys ,just save an extra week! This base is very eciting Tom,I think they are doing a wonderful thing here. Also even if its not robot specific, most Super Robot hangars are similar anyhow, its just the outsides of teh bases that are so unique to the specific SR. Someone will build around it Im sure.Id like to see this be the underground to Mazingers pool in TMZs custom photon lab.He raises straight up from the underground base.May not be show accurate, but it would be awesome!

Its got to look like this when it comes up out of that swimming pool though...
"BEHOLD HIS MIGHTY HAND!"
Baron I was just talking in terms of visual impact and quality...although there is a chance that something that big could look ok in there..

Should be ok if I say that as it stands now it will probably have a transformer jack in it so you can plug it in to a wall socket and run it 24-7 without the need for batteries.. but that transformer will not be included.

In any case, these bases are a welcome treat. It's been a while since we've seen anything new and exciting around here (exceptions: the SRC line, the DX Maz, and that MP VV which seems to be taking forever to arrive to folks here). Anyone who wants to have a field-day with this HLPro robot base should go right ahead and dive in. ( TMZ, com'on, you KNOW you want this base! lol) As long as anyone here can score this robot base, the entertainment value alone would keep the rest of us glued to our monitors to see folks here try all sorts of ideas with this base. Think of it as an "open source software" in which participants in this community get to play the role of Developer/Hacker and take these robot bases to the next level of hobby Genius. As for the "Ten Commandments" Jordan River Effect reference, keep in mind that movie was Waaay ahead of its time with the Special Effects technology it used back in the day... ...when that movie opened on the big screen, folks in theaters were blown-away by the special effects. The same can be said for the latest innovations in toy designs in this hobby, in which we're now seeing how the engineering in these new items are setting new standards in the industry. I hope for the best with HLPro, that they may take their time to do this project right and produce a quality product that will benchmark their craftsmanship in this collectable toy genre. zozo-mag

What's up with that big Grendizer there with his extended forearm... those buttons on his biceps are triggers for the "shooting fists" or "jackhammer" punches? zozo-mag

Sorry guys, motorcycles took over my life for a while.. I replaced every bearing in my XB9SX, switched over to carbon fiber exhaust and I am trying to get a custom race battery made.. the battery weighs 1 pound for a 9 pound weight savings.
Magengar, that is the new Grendy Jumbo.. there is going to be a whole series of new Jumbos, they come with "rocket punch" but modern safety standards in the EU wont allow them to fully "fly off" like in the old days so they are going to be on some kind of "piston system".. the sculpt looks real good though I think

The Jumbo Sculpt looks awesome! I really need a Jumbo Grendizer in my collection. I'll make sure to modify the rocket punch so it actually flies off like in the old days. One thing that I would change, just for the sake of looks, is move the firing button to the back of the arm, so it is not so obvious. }D
