Fei Long AND Dan are slated to be in the home version... as well as apparently Gouki and GOUKEN!! I'm hoping for a few more extras like Dudley or Sakura.... It comes out in February, so plenty of time for more surprises!

Looks great! I noticed in the captivate trailer that they got some of the names mixed up though.

Looks great! I noticed in the captivate trailer that they got some of the names mixed up though. Vega, Balrog and Bison? They got it right. It's just that these three switched names ever since the old SF2 crossed the ocean. Perhaps keeping M. Bison as the boxer's name was a bit too much for Capcom USA's legal department, as the character was obviously a take on Mike Tyson. And Vega probably sounded more hispanic to them (and to about everyone), so they made them play the names roulette: the boxer M. Bison got renamed as Balrog, the spanish clawed psycho Balrog was to be known as Vega, and big boss Vega (which seems to be the prefered name of 1 out of 3 fictional japanese despots) got stuck with the leftovers: M. Bison. Then Capcom USA made up some BS stories about Bison (aka Japanese Vega) being so shrouded in mystery that nobody knows what the "M" stands for. It's Mike... the guy's name is Mike. Not very all-mighty-evil-overlord-sounding, but just you go tell him that... ;D So, in a nutshell: US Balrog = the boxer = Japanese M.Bison US Vega = Spanish psycho = Japanese Balrog US M.Bison = caped overlord = Japanese Vega I say US, but it's probably the same with other international (out-of-Japan) versions.

So, any early thoughts on the game from those who bought it? I'm still on the fence. I can't quite get used to the art style from the screenshots I've seen. The proportions just seem strange.
I probably rented Super SF II on the Genesis enough times to buy it twice as a kid, but I haven't really played a Street Fighter since. What's the gameplay like these days?

Well, it might need some getting used to, but the game is very good. All my friends enjoyed it except one, not cause the game was bad, but cause there weren't any major cheap tactics to employ ;D!

yeah the game is pretty much the same as the classic sf series , same command list and hardly any new moves at all, new tactic is included which is called Focus kinda similier to Parry in sfiii but not quite, the game generally is fun and if u want a fighting game on a new generation consoles it is IMO the best one out there at the moment, I just feel they couldve done better with the chars design, and made longer endings and openings cuz these last for like 10-15 seconds ingame which very dissapointing, but hey u have gouken here !

Spent 10 hours straight on it yesterday, and I feel the game is a worthy successor to the genius of Third Strike- still bummed though that Dudley didn't make it this time as he's an infinitely cooler boxer than Bison/Balrog. Gouken is fun and pretty different than the usual shotos, all of whom are present except for Sean. The fact that all the characters have only 1 super move (1 super/ 1 ultra- which is more or less just a beefier version of the regular super) is interesting, especially since most of the cast had at least 2 or 3 in Alpha 3, and adds an interesting dynamic. The focus attacks are pretty interesting, too, and are a little less daunting to pick up than parrying. Personally, I like the character designs and art direction, so I don't see the reason for harping on them so much, and as cool as the anime scenes are, I think they would've been alot nicer had they been done in game. Still nice touch though. The classic music remixes are also very much appreciated.

Heaving a huge sigh of relief: I got my grubby paws on a Collector's Edition box for PS3 tonight. Man, I must've driven nearly 2 hours criss-crossing the city checking every store I knew. It seems that due to some shipping screw-up most stores got shipments for xbox360 but a lot less for PS3. Thankfully it looks like the price of gas went down in the last 24 hours... So far, I'm loving it. I both love and hate the on-line component. After many years without playing a SF game seriously, I started my first match with Ryu just get back into the swing of things. But then only after my first match two challengers in a row wanted a piece of me! Thankfully since everyone else has only been playing for a few days, I managed okay (lost, but wasn't totally pwned, at least). I also tried a couple of other characters. Not sure which I have a liking for. One thing is for sure, I really need to get a stick...

I just got the game a day ago, was pressured into doing so by my cousin who has played this since last tuesday, so he has a slight upperhand on me when it comes to executing the moves. I know that all the moves are essentially the same as the previous SF game but this one seem to react a little slower or that I haven't gotten use to the timing on this game.
One thing is for sure, I don't like the graphics at all. This pastal paintinig style art doesn't do it for me. The anime cut-scenes are poorly done. They should of hire the people that did the SF II Turbo Remix to do the animation or the team that did the Alpha movie. I've only played against my cousin online so I don't know it they place players into fair matches of equal ranks, unlike SF II Turbo remix, where sometime you get to play against a newb and other times it's an expert.
Of the new players that are added to the game, I like Abel the best, Slight ripoff of Alex since they got rid of him. Will be playing this for the next month or so until I unlock all the characters and get most of the Achievements. My favorite SF game is still SF III Third Strike.

In a word: I suck! I got my arse kicked by almost everyone that jumped in, heck Zangief gave me a hard time, and he was CPU controlled. I play as either Ken and Ryu, but that doesn't matter, nor matter what character I used, it seems everyone else seem to hit harder than my character. Sucks...

Hey, you were online last night, but we didn't get to play. You probably would have kicked my arse too, anyway! LOL. When Sakura is hitting perfects against my Ryu...that just sucks! I agree about the graphics, it is not as "revolutionary" as the original, nor is it particularly pleasing as the character pictures seem to still look better than the characters do in game. The action can get frustrating when you are trying to play a solo game and Live people keep challenging you, only to hand you arse to you in a basket with a bow. The fat boy that thinks Ryu is Ken is highly irritating and so is the Crimson, whatshername...most of the characters, with the exception of Akuma and Gouken seem dull, even the classics were not as good. I think M.Bison or Balrog (in the US) is a bit too powerful, three to four hit quitter? Where's the balance? What happen to the all powerful hadoken? It barely takes out a notch of energy...I'm just glad that I didn't pay full price for it. I used a gift card that I got from answering too many surveys and had a few dollars in for preorders that I rolled into it.

With that said, one more gripe. EBgames, you suck arse! I'm going to use my "internet" powers to let you and the world know that EBgames suck donkey balls! So I come to the store after work, mind you I received that irritating automated call Gamestop/EBgames telling me my copy will be at the store for me to pickup. So I get there and these two "ladies" were running the counter and when I got to my turn, I asked for my preordered copy of SF4 for the 360. She said, "Did you preorder it?" "Yes," she said. "What's your phone number?" "707-EB-SUCKS" "Ah, there you are, you ordered it for the 360?" "Yes," "Oh, wait, you ordered the regular edition, we are out," "Well, can I get the collector's edition?" "No, we only have those for people who preordered," "Then, May I have it for the PS3?" "No, that's also only for the preorders," "Can you find me another store?" "No, we are all sold out," "Wait, I preordered it," "Yes," "But you are out?" "Yes, the manufacturers has a special arrangement with us and only sent us a few copies," "Okay?" "Check, tomorrow, maybe we'll get some more in," "What? But I preordered it, Aren't I guaranteed to get a copy?" "No," "Then why did I preorder it?" shrugs "Okay, I never want to hear you a-beep-holes pitch me on preordering another mutha-beep-ing thing again, ok?" "ok, no problem, have a nice day." "Go f-beep- yourself."
I was livid!
