So what wins? The design's been around for 30 years now and has received countless iterations over the years. So what's the cream of the crop? Metal Composite? Super HCM Pro? EMSiA? Or something else altogether? I'm talking about sculpt, articulation, durability, all of that. What harnesses the true soul of the Gundam?

Dude I love the Arch Enemy, but the Metal Fix Ka is pretty sweet also. Hope the top two helps.

Jumbo Grade To me, the soul of a giant robot is not gimmickry or artiulation or paint finish. The soul of a giant robot is simply its size. When I walk in my collection room, the Jumbo Grades towering over my other Gundam toys are the figures that say G U N D A M to me.

I would say the Super HCM Pro. The sculpt has a good balance between the "anime look" and Katoki's revision. Features excellent articulation and is loaded with gimmicks. Also comes with an AWESOME amount of accessories. There's a good amount of tampo printed markings but some might not like the non-anime correct markings or the Katoki style markings that came over from the GFF line.
Downsides include the fact that it's made exclusively of plastic and it's a bit on the expensive side considering the scale used.

If you take into account size, articulation, posability and design, i would have to go with the PG RX-78. I know that it's the first in the PG Series, and doesn't come out of the box as the most stable PG in the series, but the entire skeleton under the armor just makes the PG series stand out. ;D

I hate to burst your bubble on this piece but it's actually just a small figurine and has no articulation. At least none that I'm aware of. I could be horribly mistaken.

Well then, I stand corrected. I've only ever seen poses of it in a generic standing position. This actually looks pretty cool.

no one has posted the grandest rx-78 ever and its one of the cheapest (well not anymore since it has long been discontinued) enter banprestos SCM EX Gundam RX-78 honestly the most poseable figure around 5" of pure coolness!! Its a definite must have!

I have an SCM Gundam on the way, but it's not the EX. It's an SCM RE Gundam. Does anyone happen to know how it compares to the EX? The proportions look more realistic than the EX figure, but I don't know if it's made of the same materials or how articulated it is in comparison.

Im not sure but i beleive these came out before the ex if im not mistaken which one do you have i only know of SCM impulse re gundam. I do know that the latest from banpresto are the Humable which spouts better articulation and more anime accuracy especially for the the RX-78 but dont think that one is out yet however two G gundams are (Master and rising gundams). Do you have any pics and where did you get yours from I am trying to collect as many of these as possible!

I thought I read somewhere that Banpresto was going to rerelease the SCM ex stuff. I got the G3 but that original RX-78-2 is hard to find.

that would be super cool if they did, but for now your best bet is ebay. Of course they jacked the price on them but seriously they are worth it as they are the best gundam figures out there beating out MSIA, HCM, and even damashii lines.
