Well the figure is already on the way so I can't cancel it. And even if I could, that Humable model is...expensive. Almost $40 including shipping. I only paid $22 total for the SCM figure I got. I can't imagine it's really worth that much more. Plus the lack of a beam saber blade is pretty disappointing in my opinion.

I got my clear one in today. I was surprised how small the box was compared to the Other FIX I have gotten. It looks cool but I am tempted to customize it with some translucent paint in some spots.

I would say, my favorite and best RX-78-2 of all time are: SCM Ex RX-78-2 (not Humable) GFF #0037 Perfect Gundam (Great articulation too!) MG RX-78-2 OYW version Any listed above are great options. vic01

So what wins? The design's been around for 30 years now and has received countless iterations over the years. So what's the cream of the crop? Metal Composite? Super HCM Pro? EMSiA? Or something else altogether? I'm talking about sculpt, articulation, durability, all of that. What harnesses the true soul of the Gundam? I'd say Super HCM Pro RX-78 for gimmicks and overall playability--you get a fully transforming core fighter with retractable landing gear, lots of opening hatches, an arsenal of weapons, great articulation, and even a tiny amount of diecast (soles of the feet). Just be sure to get one without QC problems. In terms of sheer beauty and awesome painted/printed detailing, the RX-78 Ka GFF MC is the winner.

My favorite has always been the Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite RX-78-2, whether you get the G Fighter or not.
Excellent size and heft, good poseability and finish, and pretty sweet accessory (particularly if you get the one with the G-Fighter). The only downside is that it attracts dirt so easily, but a swift wipe with a damp tissue / soft cloth should be enough to clean it up.

what about the 1/200 gundam ? does anyone have info on it? Are you talking about the HCM Pro line? If so, there are several variants available. All are very well constructed, with outstanding articulation and incredible attention to detail. The only possible drawback (to some) is the small size. For me though, the small size is a plus!

SCM EX is hands down the best, the detail, qaulity, and is capable of poses no other line can produce, and the fact that its only $15 (though now its twice that) and its made out of ABC and not PVC like GFF. Sure it may not have panel lining detail but you can add that with ease and its friggin awesome Only draw back is lack of changeable hands and the beams on the beam sabers have a cheap look to them. Other then that, I never had so much fun with a toy in like forever!

Well, it's not technically an RX-78 but I just bought an SCM EX RGM-79 GM for $30 even, including shipping. Considering that the item sold out pretty quickly from most places I think it's a fair price, and it should be just as fun as the RX-78.

I think this thread proves there are too many RX-78-2 Gundam toys out there... It really is mind-boggling: the variety in scales, sculpts, materials, gimmicks, accessories out there.

Some have paint application problems. Overspray, splotching. Somewhat sloppier than with the GFF MC. Same problem I've found with the HCM Pro line. I wish there line that combined the best of Super HCM Pro's (articulation, gimmicks, playability) and the best of GFF MC (higher QC, some of the best painting apps and tampo printing, larger size, diecast).

I also wish the line hadn't gotten so darn expensive. I understand maybe $10 or $15 for the SCM's but $30 is way too steep for UFO Machine toys.

Actually they ARE $15, but only if you buy them from places like HLJ right when they come out. Unfortunately crane catcher toys are made in fairly small quantities (only enough to last a month so that new toys can be inserted next month) so the window of opportunity for grabbing them is pretty small. Once they hit the secondary market the prices jump up. I think $30 shipped for the GM was pretty good, seeing as on Ebay I could've paid $40 or even more.

I've got to chime in for the old skool origins. Can't remember if they're actually labeled Rx78, or not, but the original Gundam Clover diecast brick Dx sets, and the Banpresto/Popy GA-100 ST diecasts from 10 yrs ago, have still got the spring loaded firing fists and missle launchers, and heavy diecast "clonkability". ....El, KABONG!...Ouch.
Okay, I just checked the old boxes, ..Nope, no mention of the RX-78 number. But they still rock.

I have the DX Clover Gundam set. It's what got me into collecting Gundams in the first place. It's in a class by itself.
